. tracking delays on the 10 and we show you where the hotspots are for the morning drive. could tuesday morning, everybody. thanks for waking up with us. >> -- good tuesday morning everybody, thanks for waking up with us. things could change as this tropical depression javier is on the move inching right along the baja california coast . this is new video out of mexico where at least 40 people now been killed because of mudslides. evacuation orders have been issued for the resort town of cobblestone lucas mexico. parts of the city have now been shut down and at least 10 shelters are open. this is very concerning here. iris, i want to bring you in on -- as the weather expert on this and maybe impact it could have on us here -- the impact it could have on us here locally .

fizzle out, it will send moisture in -- our way and that means a boost in storm chances. as you get ready to head out the door, no impact for the morning commute, so maybe walking kids to the bus stop it will be all dry but it will be a little bit warm and humid as they walk out to the bus stop. you may even want to pack a water bottle because it will still be a hot and humid day today as we make it up to 104. by the time they get out of school there is a slight chance of a stray sure but the chances for storms will go -- a stray storm but the chances for storms will go up more tonight. and that flash flood alert will go into effect here this evening. i will show you how high those rain chances will go tonight into tomorrow and again the biggest hazards we will see around our state. there -- iris, no complaints so far for the morning drive. let's look at the big picture

slowing and that's really in the west valley right now, so the desert drivetime is 18 minutes for my 10 eastbound 75th avenue to the mini stack. this really eases up right before you hit the tunnel. that's when you will start to see release this morning on i- 10. the other hotspot is i-17. this is right at 19th avenue. it's not terrible but you see a lot of congestion leading up there. you'll have to tap the brakes just a little bit and i will show you the loop 101 in the north valley when we i want to update you on breaking news from the live desk is a home went up in flames in two different -- and two different fire departments responded to this one. this is near apache trail and delaware. justin? >> reporter: yes just a few hours after the fire was put out we still have folks on scene trying to figure out exactly how this fire started. i talked with superstition fire and they said the roof of this home has collapsed and they had

which is obviously a big concern. i talked with neighbors who called it in and they said to stay -- the fire was huge. the good news is that home was vacant but firefighters still had to go in there and do a quick check to make sure nobody was inside that home but as you can see back out here live, they are still here trying to figure out exactly how it started but again the good news this morning is that there were no injuries. justin pazera abc15. thank you for that update testing. meanwhile a close call for firefighters dealing with a hazmat situation in chandler near chandler boulevard and tie rain -- kyrie. two chemicals were found in a dumpster at a metal cleaning business and that's what start -- started the fire. the trouble came when they started spraying the fire with water. >> normally when you put water on fire, you have a certain color of smoke and when it starts to generate a brownish

an indication that something is not going correctly. >> so the firefighters did go to the hospital as a precaution but now authorities are trying to figure out how those chemicals ended up in that dumpster together. dan? new in the gun control debate we could be hours away from tougher regulations in one part of our state. later on today, tucson city council is expected to vote on a measure to ban the high- capacity magazines, more than 10 rounds. so you wouldn't be able to -- the gun can fire those rounds without reloading. even if that passes the city faces a big hurdle because this year governor doug ducey signed a law preventing cities from passing their own legislation which means the city could be fined as much as $50,000 if they proceed. a former player was recruited by u of a to play football for the school and was

laws. right now at 6:16, a murder mystery unfolding for the second time in less than a week, police are investing -- investigating the death of a woman found dead after going out for a jog. the google executive was from new york city and was visiting her mom at the time of the incident. they don't know if this killing was a random act. no word on the cause of death but mcinnis a marcotte was found -- but naked and burned. >> just days before this another woman was killed while jogging near queens in new york city. so far no arrests have been made in the death of 30-year- old karina bejarano. they found her body 15 feet off the trail and authorities are now going through some digital evidence including home video and surveillance cameras --

well, chris. happening right now, recovering after being mauled by a lion at the granby zoo in montrial. workers used a high-powered water hose like a water cannon type to get that line off of the woman and ended up saving her life. three lions live at the zoo in question and all three are currently out of the public view and officials are investigating what prompted the attack, what happened here, certainly scary stuff as well in this situation, danielle. back in the valley, 40 several east valley group homes as part of an ongoing investigation in the powerhouse youth facility. these are pictures from the facility's website after they reported an incident of child sex abuse a month ago. now all the kids are gone. >> the way they handled it was not about the kids. they have rushed to judgment. >> dps officials say the kids

an appropriate placement. flood waters are rising in parts of florida as heavy rain is expected over the next four days all the way from tampa to pensacola, 15 inches of rain is expected that some places along the gold coast could see as much as 18 inches. -- along the gulf coast could see as much as 18 inches. they have been warned they may have to evacuate at some point. a declaration of emergency, now window rock was last week by monsoon storms. homes and roads were destroyed and even livestock was in fact it. a lot of people were forced to evacuate on friday because of flash flooding in shiprock and the question is, will we see any more storms here soon? >> we have the potential and for flash flooding over the next 24 hours in the valley and across the state, especially in spots to our east and southeast. this morning abc15 desert doppler showing you fairly

. with the exception of southern arizona near sierra vista where we've been tracking some strong storms producing a lot of lightning and also that area under a flash flood warning because of the heavy rain. the rest of the state is pretty quiet and the phoenix metro is all dry. i expect it will stay dry to the morning but over the next 24 to 48 hours we're tracking big changes to tropical depression javier. this could restrict than a little bit but expected to be an area of low pressure so overall, weakening as it moves to the north and it's not going to directly moved to our state but it is going to bring a surgeon moisture. there's still a little bit of uncertainty as to who will get the bulk of the rain because we don't have the energy of that storm moving in. we just have the moisture moving in but the potential is there for any storms that develop to produce flooding rainfall and that's why we want

that flash flooding will be a possibility. we will be under the flash flood watch all the way to kingman and bullhead city, prescott and areas to our southeast and east, starting this evening and continuing through the day tomorrow. so heavy rain will be possible with any storms that develop and remember this phrase: turn around, don't drown. as far as the hour by hour storm chance breakdown, those chances go up this evening but notice by 7:00 just a slight chance. that means if we do get storms they could produce a very rain so stay alert but the better potential for more rain will come as we go through the -- the overnight hours and through the day tomorrow. temperatures today are still topping over the hundreds -- to 104 but by tomorrow only in the 90s with the rain chances an extra humidity. we dry out as we head into the weekend. i will bring in the hour by hour temperature forecast in just a few minutes mom -- few minutes, mallory.

answers on a string of fires tied to an arson investigation. this is unfolding at 24th street and indian school. they went to talk to this guy about a string of fires and we're told the man refused to come out. the man -- the swat team came in and they got the man out. they believe the men may have an adult -- a mental illness so they are checking in on that as well. new details this morning about a deadly rescue here in the valley, an equine veterinarian is dead after being trapped in an underground storage unit. >> two people tried to rescue him and they are in critical condition. this happened last night near third avenue and carefree highway. mcso and fire officials were called out to report to three people who were unconscious. we're told the unit held grains and water from last week's water was being drained.

it would have been his 31st birthday. this news is shocking, not just the tucson you of a community -- u of a -- community but a football player mysteriously passed away and this morning we are learning more about the player. strong ties to the valley and abc15's katie conner joins us live from chandler high school. what can you tell us about the death -- do we know anything? >> reporter: all we know is that zachary died on his ace during his sleep on sunday night and today they could release more information but here at the high school is where he mastered his skills on the football field. he last touched but here in 2011 and from here he went down to u of a, gearing up for a very big senior year expecting to be the starting center. chandler high school's head coach helped zach get recruited to u of a. he said learning of

going up and so is the threat of flash flooding. much of the day today looks to be quiet for the phoenix metro, but by this evening we could see a few pop up storms near the valley but look at how futurecast really shows you how tonight into tomorrow is when we see that potential for more widespread rain and more flooding rain too. noticed the storm chances by our: by 7:00 a slight chance of thunderstorms. any storms that develop could produce heavy rain and we will also have to watch for threat of dust initially and storms enter the valley and then overnight tonight after midnight the storm chances go up to 70% and through the day tomorrow, it could be a wet one and again that flash flooding threat is there so we are under a flash flooding watch starting this evening as rain looks to be our biggest hazard and the flooding will be the biggest hazard as well. we will talk temperatures and that 7-day forecast in just minutes, mallory. switching over to the traffic map, focusing in on the

some of the slowest spots we are seeing. this is u.s. 60 westbound starting right at gilbert rotor so is when you will start to see slowing. i showed you this camera shot 20 minutes ago where it was getting busier and now we are seeing those delays. it eases up near country club as you have a little bit -- excuse me, right near the 101. from country club to the 101 and then it eases up when you get to the 10, with that interchange of 10 and u.s. 60. the drive has remained steady most of the morning just a nine around the durango curve. and i know this is a bright shot but this is one of the slowest spots, right near cassius -- slowing on the i-17 there as well. 2-3 days. cards football is back on abc15, the cardinals hosting the raiders this friday night. kickoff is at 7:00, cards pregame starts at 630
