flood advisories and a few severe thunderstorm warnings up in the high country this afternoon. so still the potential of seeing soaking rain, and we are going to increase the storm chances as we head into the overnight forecast. so by 11:00 p.m. tonight, a 40 percent chance, up to 60 percent in the early morning hours, extending into the morning commute tomorrow as well. so that's the hour by hour, and travel could be impacted, so check the wiper blades, and make sure your tires are properly extra drive time throughout the day. we'll talk about temperatures and how much they'll increase coming up. apache junction, two inches other of were rain fell in just -- of rain fell in just a few hour, firefighters risking their lives to save drivers with stalled cars. megan thompson is live. >> reporter: this area not just hit hard on the roadways, buts also in people -- but also in

jason is in the fountain hills area, for a look at the weather up there. >> reporter: it feels like the biggest remnants of rain is the humidity. you can feel the moisture growing off your skin, but i want to show you what else hamburger stand. this giant knocked -- happened. this giant knocked over in the storm and fell into a huge puddle. it's almost a foot of water. i won't wade all the way in, but the rain for drivers on the highways around fountain hills earlier today. take a look at this driver of a porsche sliding tail first into the median acting like a drainage ditch filled with mud and water, and that meant no escape for the sports car. he had to have a tow, but nobody was hurt, and traffic kept moving. the driverring was picked um my -- driver was picked um by his

coming up at 6:00 we'll show you the water that started running in the washes at the height of the storm. pretty incredible pictures. until then, back to you. and adot crews are keeping a close eye on the radar and on the pumps along the freeway. sonu wasu is joining us live, and a lot of flooding could be caused by drivers? >> reporter: that's right, next time you're driving down that road for all of you out there, words twice before throwing out trash. there is a bigger problem, not just littering, but it could lead to flooding. adot crews out all day clearing trash off the roads. it can block drainage gates and pipes. this is along i-17 and indian school road, almost a mile worth of trash lining the sides of the road. a lot of it foam cup, something as flimsy as a cup or wrapper car length effect the commute

in the hunt in the phoenix serial street shooter, and tonight we're learning new information ability the cases linked by police. >> and we have new documents detailing the initial interviews from three of the cases. navideh forghani is looking through each case, and what have you found? >> reporter: well, steve, i'm standing out here where the first shooting happened, actually happened right across the street by the pedestrian bridge here at 10th and moreland on march 17th around 11:00, and thesdo a lot more detail on what the witnesses and victims saw. the documents show the suspect drove by the 16-year-old and their friend hanging out outside near their home, and actually did a u-turn, drove by them, slowed down, rolled down the window and yelled something in spanish before firing. the suspect's arm was covering the lower half of his face and

and sideways rain and flooding in apache junction. we've been telling you about this. thanks to robert wheeler for this. and jill sending rain from the backyard near southern and power in mesa. incredible video from the tucson fire department as well. firefighters actually having to break out the rear window of the suv to rescue the driver after the car was swept right down the wash. incredibly dangerous situation as well. >> yeah, we talked about sky rain, but look what was happening several miles out to the east in the east valley cities. places like fountain hills, apache junction, out near the trail get an inch and a half or more. the trail site 2.05 inches, much of that coming in about a two-hour time period, so a lot of heavy downpours to track today so far, and there are more chances tonight and tomorrow with that flash flood watch in effect. right now though, we're in the

not a storm to track anywhere across the phoenix metro. we have showers and thunderstorms out fact to the west, mainly over open land to the east of lake havasu city. we also have a flood advisory right now still in effect for areas southwest of flagstaff that got in on heavy rain earlier. the rain is dying down in the spot now, but still issues with run off, and showers and thunderstorms hitting holbrook and snow flake, some of them kicking out thunder and lightning, and pockets of heavy rain. new storm development across the rain and white mountains over the last hour, so daytime heat getting going and leading to new development, and chances increase here into the overnight forecast going into tomorrow. we do have dry air, that's the brown here in the color scheme, still across a big chunk of southwest arizona. much of the moisture is out to the east, but a lot of moisture

continue to do so over the next 24 hours. this is a pocket of moisture, remnants from what was once tropical storm javier. not just the monsoon, a little tropical moisture in effect, and the flash flood watch in effect until 11:00 p.m. tomorrow. breaking down the storm chances tomorrow. tonight 30 percent, overnight increasing to 60 percent, and that carries us through early wednesday morning, then the middle part of the day wednesday, that chance will taper off into thursday. but a few storms still possible in that thursday forecast as so how much in terms of rain fall total, well a lot of uncertainty. it really will be hit or miss. the spots hit hard could see over an inch of rain, but overall across much of the valley, less than half an inch is a more likely forecast. 92 at 6:00 p.m. tonight, 89 by 9:00. the rain chances gradually increasing into the late night forecast. right now we're not 92 -- at 92 with winds at 12 miles per
