clerk was gone down -- was gunned down at a 7-eleven earlier this month. now recommending the sheriff be criminally charged for not following court orders in the racial profiling case. >> a lot of people are weighing in on this tonight. >> yes, stephanie, community activists have been waiting eight years for these recommendations. the man who is handling the civil case says there is evidence for the charges to go criminal, but now it is all in the hands of the u.s. attorney's office. it's a 32 page order that civil rights crews have been waiting years to see. >> our community has been terrorized. it has felt the wrath of sheriff arpaio. >> listing all the evidence including on camera interviews and orders he said sheriff joe and his top-level deputies have

the criminal case to another judge. they told me they are reviewing the case right now but there is no estimated time for that review to be complete so they will keep us updated on what they decide if charges will be brought against sheriff arpaio and the officials. >> we will follow that every step of the way. thanks. innocent families have torn apart by his discriminatory actions and it is time the sheriff learned firsthand about the proper application of the law and that he has not and has never been above the law. it remains to be seen -- how this news will affect the election. the primary is just 11 days away. the likely democratic candidate , both challengers on record tonight saying we deserve better. the statement even calls on sheriff arpaio to retire.

grieving mother accused of grieving for her child -- grieving mother accused of killing her child. the child overdosed on met fan methadone. -- on math -- meth and methadone. >> she's a woman fighting drug addiction, detoxing behind bars, sober for the first time in 13 years. she's finally realizing her baby girl is gone >> it kills me. it breaks my heart. i love my children so much. i fought for them. i did everything they asked me to do and then some. >> police say the child overdosed on her mother's prescribed methadone but instead of calling 911, she gave her daughter methamphetamine. if they be born addicted to methadone is now dead from overdose. she says she's made many mistakes but she denies giving her daughter the meth,

with her that night. >> i was supposed to protect my children and i take full responsibility for that but i will never give my daughter -- i would never give my daughter meth. >> it's been a long road to win back custody of her child.. and classes, 180 hours of aa , but the reunion was short-lived. she's already been sentenced to life, living every day without her daughter. >> i have to tell myself she's alive just to get thro day. >> earlier this week a grand jury reduced charges from first to second degree murder. she's now waiting for trial. back to you. a major bust not far from u of a in tucson. we know two people are now in custody and the feds were involved in this. a brief moment of hope that one of america's most wanted was captured right here in arizona.

accused of killing his entire family in 2001. sources tell officials they got a tip about a man there that fits his profile but they brought him in, fingerprinted him and found out it wasn't their guy. it'd been so long since anybody has seen him, nobody really knows what it looks like now. a violent stranger is still out there. >> she says that stranger rear- ended her car kill her. >> i'm here near 43rd and cactus. shattered glass but this is the real problem -- this is the bullet hole in her back bumper. she thought all it was going to be was swapping insurance information after she got rear- ended but the other guy took off and she decided to follow

>> phoenix police weren't able to talk to us tonight about the case but the victim's friend says they have found the car. they haven't found the driver yet. if you have any information, give police a call. tonight flowers are on the doorstep of an 84-year-old man stabbed to death in chandler. they are offering a $1000 reward for information about the murder of this man, found dead inside his car at the la fitness at warner and dobson.'s neighbors are shocked. >> it's a situation where was a nice guy -- he was a nice guy that would do anything for anybody. if somebody said i need money or whatever he would give it to them just because that the way he was. >> police are reviewing security photo from -- footage from nearby businesses for more clues about this murder. >> he's a real schmucker. really, he is. he's running for state senate that some people are calling him a liar.

firefighters vote shmuck. but they say they actually endorse his opponent, jeff dial . they are demanding he take down the billboard near the arizona mills mall. tonight we got a statement from shmuck himself. he said it doesn't claim a group endorses him but rather just encourages them to vote for him. it's a that maybe putting it nicely. claims that the dust -- death sentence was based on false testimony and evidence. she's locked up tonight after police say she left her one-year-old baby outside in his stroller while she drink with a friend. the baby boy was found crying and sweating in the courtyard of an apartment complex at 12 avenue and indian school. several neighbors rushed in to help, calling 911 and keeping the baby cool. >> we wiped him down with cool tile -- towel. who does that? i would never do my kids like that. >> police say the mom blew a .389. she already had two warrants and her baby was taken to trial -- child protective services. the woman who witnessed the

-- deadliest attack is now speaking out. she and her mom stephanie and a friend were all shot -- sitting in their car back on june 12. melia and stephanie had both been in the house just moments before but melia followed her mom out to the car with the three listening to music and that's when shots rang out. layton was the first outside and she tried to save little melia. >> i was just like melia, it's okay. just breathe. but the bullet i went straight into her neck. >> i tried to plug the hole but it didn't work because there were so much blood. >> he's killed seven people in nine attacks since march. silent witness is offering a reward of $50,000. anytime a gun is fired a lot of you ask is that -- was at the serial shooter and there's growing concern tonight about one case off 17th and camelback were 21-year-old was shot. the

us. thank you so much and right now as we look live at doppler, those spotty showers we've been tracking over the last 30 minutes or so that popped up are pretty much gone. now the valley is back in the clear but we are continuing to watch a few showers farther to the north here. there's a slight chance we should -- could see these pop up showers get closer to the valley. this has been going on for hours along i-8, still seeing a there. it's starting to let up right where the flood warning is. it's still in effect until 11:45 flooding issues there, and the storms out neared the one -- near dayton are pushing out and there's the boundary right there. that's not rain. watch how it escapes where the rain is and continues to push to the west and southwest. that's the boundary we will likely see. this time it's going into yuma,

mile. that affect -- that advisory is in effect until midnight. it's 94 and a little breezy across the valley. temperatures are in the low to mid-90s across the valley at this hour and across the north, 70s in prescott, sedona and payson so tonight it's down to 62. 69 in globe. 59 in show low and 49 in we will see you a few clouds and a slight chance for showers and then tomorrow, we have 103 for the high so that puts is a degree or so below average in the valley. sedona is 90, sedona 77 -- flagstaff, 77. here in the valley for the weekend the temperatures will be in the mid- 80s both saturday and sunday. right a wrong 2:00, to -- going up to 100.

so looking a little bit drier. the air quality gets worse on sunday also. tomorrow we are under an ozone healthwatch but as we go into sunday a pollution advisory will be issued so looking at healthy -- unhealthy for sensitive groups on sunday and back down to moderate owns -- on monday and tuesday. again the storm chance down to 10% chance on a then back up to 20% with a little more moisture for the start of that is monday and tuesday and then drier air comes in and it looks like we will clear the rain chances out for wednesday and thursday. they will be back for thursday and friday. craig, they didn't win -- but it's not about it -- that's not everything in the preseason. coming up next we will

welcome back to qualcomm stadium and we are just outside the cardinals locker room. the team is long gone now, flying back to phoenix where they will have their next practice on sunday after the players take a day off. i want to go back to the loss and talk about the offensive performance on the field because the starters did not look good tonight. it drops to 0-2 on preseason. carson palmer had a 23.4 rating but that one pick six with the touchdown hurt the cardinals right away. drew stanton came in, just to seven 437 yards and another interception there putting the chargers down on the cardinals' 9 yard line, ending up with a field goal to make it 10-0 in the first quarter.

the stems or sticks and throw it in a little shaded spot in my backyard and cover it with a tarp. and some other things that are really important to add to it are these coffee grinds. now, these add a great bit of nutrients and nitrogen to the soil, which is really good for helping your plants grow faster. >> okay. >> and then, of course, eggshells are fantastic for calcium, which i didn't even know your plants needed calcium, but you've got to give them this. it really helps to enrich that soil... >> wow. >> ...and does a great job of adding that calcium to it. and last but not least, throw a can of worms on top of that 'cause that worm-- those worms really help to aerate and >> a can of worms. where do we get those? >> anywhere.
