plowing right through all the water which you probably shouldn't do, but we did see some drivers doing it out here, but phoenix police came out, at least stopping some of the drivers from going through the right lane that was just inundated with water, but back out here live you can see phoenix police still out here watching that one lane, but the sun is out, things starting to destroy out, and that storm -- starting to dry out, and that storm dumped almost an inch of rain, and that's whe water came off the golf course and into the street here, but things are improving just north of thunderbird. >> yes, drying out quick, but this was the view from cave creek road and sweet water avenue. you can see the puddles in the streets, something floating by. thanks to mary beth for the video. and desert doppler right now is showing the valley is back in the clear at this hour. this after nearly an inch of rain as joe mentioned near 7th and thunderbird.

over, and nearly after -- peoria, and near a half inch near grand avenue and the loop 303, so spots that got hit got hit hard, and right now looking down to the southwest we are tracking a few new showers and thunderstorms starting to develop over the higher terrain, so we'll be watching them closely because they are moving off to the northeast. in the meantime rain to track, a flood advisory until 7:30 for the lake havasu area, and a flash flood warning for kingman until 8:00 as the heavy rain continues to fall there, and the lightning continues to strike. a lot to track around the state, and we'll go hour by hour in just minutes. a man that stared death in the face now sharing his story for the first time after surviving an attack by the serial street shooter. >> only four people targeted by the killer have lived to tell about it, and this victim is the only one to speak publicly so far.

started flying. >> i was still close, able to see the barrel of the gun from face to face at point blank range. >> reporter: and in the other shootings victims were parked in front of a house or standing near the car. targeting a moving vehicle paints a new picture for police. >> that suspect didn't have a code right now that he's targeting a particular person or type of behavior based on our victim. >> reporter: and this victim says most terrifying was the street shooter's calm uncaring look as he opened fire. >> his face was basically naked. he didn't care if i saw him or if i would identify him. >> reporter: now according to the police report, like i said, we just got it today, there is some video, home surveillance from the homes in the area that captured part of this incident, but the shooting itself that happened right here is not on camera unfortunately. abc 15. two crime scenes at the

24 hours. it's the knight's inn near i-17 and mcdowell. in the second shooting a gunman and woman are in custody, and it may be a case of self- defense. there was a peter in a room -- party in a room overnight when an uninvited guest showed up, asked to live, and then shots were fired. >> and a local rapper was killed outside the same hotel. he was celebrating his birthday family members say he left, never came back, and his body was found in the bushes outside the hotel. right now in phoenix, a gunman is on the run after a deadly robbery attempt at a motel 6 near 53rd and van buren overnight. two men went off the security guard that shot and killed one of them. both were wearing masks, so it could take time to identify who's on the run. the suspect that died hasn't been identified yet.

continuing to dump heavy rain along i-40 in the area, lots of dangerous lightning too, so that's the worst of it state- wide. few showers and thunderstorms northeast of flagstaff, but overall the rim hat this hour is -- at this hour is pretty quiet. it's the northwest pocket of the state that's really active, and then the new development down to the southwest of the valley we'll track over the next couple of hours, so overnight a 10 percent chance of a stray shower in phoenix, ca hours. temperatures dropping because of the rain, so much of the evening will be the 80s instead of the 90s, and tomorrow the storm chance in the higher terrain, 40, 50, 60 percent chances up there, and just a slight chance of it moving down into the valley forecast tomorrow. high country, prescott hitting 80, 50 percent chance of storms there. 60 percent shot in flagstaff, and sedona even a chance of

this is abc 15 news taking action. a weather alert for parts of the valley today, and drivers are well aware. look at the water in the street near 7th street and thunderbird, and here's the wider view, it was pouring down. these spotted across the north and west valley from the valley cam, and you can see how dark the skies got. the most accurate forecast and

moments away. new since 5 tim, tyler coast will have one trial instead of two. he's accused offed raping several -- of raping several girls. the defense wanted one, and the judge ruled in his favor, they were worried about duplicating issues. it's a tale of self-defense in gilbert, but the victim is dead and can't speak fo himself. the 21-year-old said his roommate made threats before he was shot dead yesterday morning here higley road and chandler heights. he and the victim had been living together for two months now. he claims the homeowner, the victim, said he'd kill him if he didn't move out, but right before the killing the suspect wrote i need to move out of my place before i viciously murder my roommate. no word if it hurt it is case. and police need your help

the district attorney's office will have ape final ruling. the man was wanted in phoenix for several things. a lot of people want jail time for sheriff joe arpaio. that's the sentiment echoed at this rally today, and new tonight a federal judge who ruled on arizona's controversial immigration law could decide his fate. judge susan assigned the case. arpaio could face criminal contempt charges for profiling hispanics in multiple traffic stops after a judge told him though the to do -- not to do so. the feds are reviewing that ruling. >. and president obama getting ready to tour the damage left behind by flooding in louisiana. tonight more than 2800 people remain in shelters, and more tallies are coming in.

guilty but inside is the verdict for a casa grande man that killed his mother in 2013. a judge sending the 40-year-old to the arizona state hospital senate state -- instead of state prison. he was accused of attacking his mother and aunt, and a neighbor. asu police looking into a possible crime involving someone video taping inside a dorm. police say it ha do with snap chat video, but they're investigating if it was criminal. and a federal judge in texas is locking the obama -- blocking the obama administration's directive on transgender bathrooms. the administration directed public schools to allow transgender students access to the restroom of their choice, but a federal judge put a hold on the directive, meaning federal agencies are not allowed to take action against school that is don't follow it. several states backing that

comes in. most will die down in the next 30 minutes or so. west of tonopah, some rain picking up in intensity in the rain, so getting a little heavy toward the edge of maricopa county. we also have showers and thunderstorms in a northwest arizona area, and these spots getting hit the hardest. several flash flood warnings in effect, those are all the red boxes you see. heavy rain, an inch plus in less than an hour, and a lot of these spots with getting that, so that's why the flash flood warning is kingman, still coming down hard just out to the east of you there. the city itself starting to see a little break, but i-40 is getted slammed, and then there's more to the south as well. as we take a broader look across northern arizona, not much else to track, a few spotty light showers here and there, and one thunderstorm near st. john, but it's isolated. all out there by itself. we're going to were continue to watch it through the night, and with monsoon moisture in place
