we're following breaking news. gunfire and blasts as an attack unfolds at american university in afghanistan. militants storming the campus, firing weapons. students were able to escape through an emergency gate. so far no reports of injuries. this attack pays two weeks after two university staff their car by unknown gunmen. we are tracking breaking news in europe at the death toll expected to rise after a devastating magnitude 6.2 earthquake in central italy. at least 120 people killed. rescue crews are searching the rubble for survivors. debris is making it difficult for rescue crews trying to reach people.

phoenix bus stop. thompson is accused of shooting a woman he was in a relationship with at an apartment complex on thursday. she is in extremely critical condition. imagine finding out you can't shower or brush her teeth or make coffee. that's what happened at an apartment complex in glendale after a driver took out a water main. we have more from 67th avenue. we have more from 67th avenue reporter: residents are dealing with a nightmare. no water. this is the aftermath after a driver plowed into this sign. we want to show you this, crews have been working for hours to try to remove this large pipe to get these repairs going. police tell me and an was headed eastbound on glendale avenue around 1: 30. he fell asleep at the wheel and crash into the sign and hit the water main. nobody was hurt. about 150 units had their water shut off. glendale fire setting up a

i am told they have a swamp cooler air system here so no water meant the heat was rising in the apartments. >> that is a big issue because it's a lot of people that live here. i know a lot of people have babies also. like newborn babies and they have to deal with no water. >> reporter: the driver was heading from one job to another when this happened. he was cited for the incident i-17 is open after a crazy crash involving a trooper who made a traffic stop and northern. the driver decided to stop in the middle of the hov lane. that is not where you're supposed to stop. the trooper jumped out to get the driver to move to the other side. the man hopped the median and made a run for it. while all of that was going on traffic came to a screeching halt. a motorcyclist couldn't stop in time and hit the back of a car which hit the back of the squad

we have to talk storm chances in the most accurate forecast. we will see storms for parts of our state and it could come close to the valley. we're learning mile -- learning more about an aps worker zapped by a power line in the far west valley south of tonopah. aps says the victim is a line men who had to be airlifted to the arizona burn unit at the 40- year-old is in the hospital. aps says he is receiving a lot of support from family, friends and cowork quite a mess here. a car plowed through this gas station front doors. you can see the metal is bent at the entrance near vale vista and maine. here are some pictures a viewer posted. the building is horribly damaged. it is back open. the driver was hurt, but not seriously. police say they might have been impaired. donald trump apparently eyeing another campaign stop here in the valley.

we started with them in the 60s. that will keep things a little drier around the valley and the state today. not completely in the clear. a little drier. temperature-wise, sitting at 93. warming further after starting at 77. all clear on desert doppler across the valley. even to the south southeast all dry. northern arizona is pretty quiet so far. even as we look over the white mountains shower in the white mountains and you can see a little lightning, that is the only one so far. going into this afternoon storms will fire back up along the mogollon rim. heading into the early afternoon be on alert for that. as far as the valley conditions go, most of us staying dry today. we will have to keep a close eye on some of those north valley foothills and northeast valley foothills and watch out futurecast will show you though
