at the gas station. and he said the guy was in handcuffs and in the back of the patrol car, but the trooper forgot one thing. >> reporter: just said to my friend jay, i said, listen, that guy can jump out of there real easy and get out of that car. no sooner than i said that, he did it. >> reporter: and this was the suspect's car where dps found a significant amount of drugs inside and they won't go more detail, but the troopers searched this entire area for the guy and even looking through a hospital across the street and he was gone. back out here live, dps called off the search for the guy. as soon as we learn about that, we will pass it to you at home. >> thank you, dan. and some deja vu. the police are looking for a person who fired a gun at a car along the freeway and this is not a return of the freeway

morning. justin pize, ra, abc 15. and police say a cigarette butt helped crack a series of sexual assault cases that have gone cold in the west valley. glendale police have been searching for the 18-year-old dennis moody for two years. police say he admitted to tackling several women and sexually assaulting them in 2014. and all happening near 47th avenue and longdale and jackie remembers what a scary time that was and that the arrest brings her closure, but she is sure the victims the same. >> and i can't imagine. i mean i would never be comfortable, even after and i would not be comfortable going outside. >> and moody was 16 years old at the time. dna from that cigarette that he asked the last victim for about attacking, matched evidence from the more creleapt -- recent sexual assault. and from on the run to incar rated, this phoenix teen is on the run.

year-old for nearly a week and that he opened fire on a woman at an apartment complex in peoria avenue. and officers caught a break and stopped him at a bus stop yesterday. at last check, the victim is still in extremely critical condition. and police are looking for the person who shot and kill a man on monday night. the victim identified as perkins jr. and police tell us that someone shot and killed him during an argument and ran off. silent witness is offering a reward for any lead to an arrest. and busted for wheeling and dealing bath salts and spice. this is a u.s. air marshal walking out of federal court. the dea investigating hanks for his role in maybing and telling the drugs. four others, including two former police officers, were busted last year for this operation and we did reach out to the tsa on his current employment status and we're waiting to hear back. when is it going to stop? and that is what we're hearing

petitioners are calling for the removal of the judge who sentenced 18-year-old david becker to probation instead of prison time. after he was charged with sexually assaulting two classmates. at a plea hearing in june, judge thomas estes siding with becker's lawyer, who argued that bicker had suffered due to his actions. bicker was arrested in -- becker was arrested in april after two 18-year-old girls told police they were drinking at a house party sleep in a bed with him. each woke up at separate times to become ecker assaulting them. he said he was unaware one of the alleged victims was sleeping and denied having any contact with the other. coming up at 7:00 a.m., we'll have more on the impact of petitions against these types of rulings the. with the gma first look, i'm lindsay janice, abc news, new

morning after the 59-year-old woman fell about 40 feet off of a platform and into the heavily wooded area. rescuers tried to revive her on the way to the hospital but it was too late, though. more details are expected to be released later on today. a north carolina mom facing charges this morning after forgetting to pick up her kindergartener from the bus stop. the bus driver refused to let the young student off of the bus and called 9 lynch. this is not the first time it happened. when officers tracked the mom down, they found four other childr h oldest just eight years old. and how do you like your twinkies? with cream filling or with meth? that is what officers in oklahoma found inside of a vehicle after a traffic stop. they had to bring in the drug- sniffing dog to search the car. the bust was made and the driver and the passenger now behind bars and they were travelling to kentucky from california with those twinkies.

a traffic stop didn't go as planned for a dps trooper. this is a story you will see on abc 15 mornings and the suspect voled here escaped and still on the run. the scene pinpointed here and on the u.s. 60 and grand avenue. and they're blocking down ape area as well and abc 15s katie conner is on the scene. and do we know who troopers are looking for? >> right now, investigator -- investigators are going over the video here at the gas station. this morning, a trooper pulled over, a guy followed him here to the gas station, put the guy in handcuffs and that is when he put him in the back of the patrol car. dps said the guy managed to get out and run across grand avenue here and wet independencees say they saw him running through the -- witnesses said they saw him running through the parking lot.

dps said inside the suspect's car, they found a significant amount of drugs and they're not going into detail about what exactly the drugs are. as soon as we learn more, we'll pass it along. the manhunt was called off after 4:00 a.m. this morning. as soon as we get that suspect description, we will let everyone at home know. of course, we'll continue to ask the questions as to how exactly the guy managed to get out of that patrol car without anyone seeing. chris? >> and katie conner with the thank you, danielle. a child is in critical condition after getting hit by a car. the police say the four-year- old was with two adults and they were jay walking when they were hit. the two adults are expected to be okay. the driver and passenger of that car, they ran a re from the scene, but the driver later turned himself in to the cactus park precinct and we're waiting to hear if any charges will be filed. and we're hoping to get our hands on the mugshot of a man suspected in a shooting in

mountain storms today and we could get some wind gusts out of the storms here in the valley. and so we'll be watching for the winds like what we saw yesterday in the phoenix metro this afternoon. and the valley storm chances today do look lower and there is a slight chance of a straight storm nearby and that is a chance, something we're going to watch here and below 10% and as it doesn't look promising. you can see the future cast will show you the best storm potential will be higher terrain and unlike yesterday, the storms won't be racing south but staying off to the north is and that should keep them out of the valley. we could get some gusty winds from them and we'll watch for an isolated pop storm to the west and the surrounding desserts. other than, that you can see the future cast keeping the valley all clear and changes, more storms in the high country and eye boost in monsoon moisture here and we have a watch for storm chances in the valley. that chance up to 20% tomorrow and into saturday morning.

afternoon and evening that can produce strong winds and pockets of heavy rain and some dust, too and temperaturewise, today, just like yesterday, 103 below average. the temperatures stay in low 100s through the weekend and we're going to get hotter into next week. and i will talk more about that uv index before heading out of the door in a few minutes. and i-10 is jam packed new near 75th avenue and starts before this around 83rd or so and we have had a crashes this morning and that added to the typical delays on the tents and give you a look at the big traffic map and that is where delays are on the 10 now and ay crash, 107th avenue eastbound and off to the side. you could see some extra slowing there as well. the north part of the valley is super quiet as you take in the 101 and the 17 or 51 southbound and you should be good to go there and the i-17 is busy area near the i-10 stock and we're looking at this next.
