the rain, lightning and thunder moving in overnight. we could be in store for another round later on today. we will talk to virus about the weather in just a second. the windshield wipers are moving in the wind is starting to slow down -- rain is starting to slow down. >> you are starting to see the delays on the roads. this is loop 101 eastbound right near 35th avenue but really either direction he will start to see some delays. you arse going because of the showers coming down, very slick road conditions so we've seen a couple minor crashes the summer , not weather-related but a good reminder to slow down speeds. let's switch over to the traffic map. the only delays we are seeing now are i-10 basically 83rd to just pass the i-17 stacked but one crash you will see is southbound at cassius road.

>> especially in the north valley, that's where we've got the wettest weather and the strongest storms and even some lightning flashes showing up in deer valley. i told you the rain would move in your neighborhood and it certainly has with the light -- lightning right around 16th street near deer valley and north phoenix. all of this is tracking the northeast, heading up into northeast scottsdale. just west of the loop 101 also moving northeast towards anthem so in that area your way and cave creek, all of this pushing to the northeast. got spotty showers as we wake up under mostly cloudy skies. this morning watch for the with roads as you heading to work and as we go through the day we will track more monsoon moisture meaning it will be warm but also humid and that's going to mean more storm chances. so 81 now, 94 by lunchtime, a high of only 99 and we talk about the threat of afternoon

reporting in the live drive allison rodriguez abc15. let's get to the stories you've been seeing first on abc15 mornings, a man rushed to the hospital after he was shot in the stomach near 28th street and broadway. abc15's megan thompson joins us live from the scene. i want to correct myself, the person was seen -- wasn't even taken to the hospital? >> county hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. police were on the scene investigating when they heard hey, some guy walked himself to the county hospital in the believe it's connected to the scene. around 3:00 this morning they found shell casings and noticed there were about three bullet holes in a car that belonged to an elderly couple who lived on

they had three bullet holes inside their car but they don't believe they are connected at all to this particular shooting. what is interesting though is that it's also the scene of another shooting from late last night and we want to get over to danielle lerner with an update on that though police aren't saying if police -- if the two are connected. >> the hunt is on for the gunman involved in a triple shooting. one victim being taken away on a stretcher with three men shot near 28th street and broadway. that area was blocked off for most of the night while police investigate. we did speak with the father of one of the victims. >> i got a phone call and rushed over here. he just that he got jumped. it really hasn't sunk in yet until i saw and then rolling him into the ambulance on the gurney. >> they tell us all three victims had life-threatening injuries. if you have any information, please call police

you are taking a live look at our mayo clinic valley cam. you can see loop 101 there at the bottom but out of at -- out to the west the dark ominous skies as the rain moves toward that area so if you live around desert ridge marketplace then you've got that rain heading right towards you. that's where the heaviest rain is right now. much of the valley is fairly quiet but we have heavier showers and thunderstorms moving right over deer valley now, all pushing to the northeast and eventually through the higher terrain in our state and northern arizona but as i get back to the valley again this is the area where we are seeing heavier rain right now. a few spotty showers under mostly cloudy skies. that could be as you get ready to head out the door. right now sitting at 81 degrees keeping the 20% chance for rain in the forecast. we keep that until we start to

get a lull but don't let your guard down as we go into the afternoon, storm chances go back up and we've got a 20% chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon , this evening and tonight. storms could produce dust, gusty winds and heavy rain along with heavy -- along with lightning. iris, the roads are really soaking wet in the north valley. take a look at this adot camera not extensive delays but you can see how wet it is out there. visibility could be affected in some parts of the 101, but as farce that crash, it's just about clear. but we do have a new one loop 101 northbound at shea boulevard, sounds like it involves a motorcyclist. i will try to get you more info but valley wide, these will just be on the west valley on i- 10 and i-17 chris.

a 12-year-old girl. he appears to be a hispanic male with access to several cars. it's not clear if he's acting alone but in some cases witnesses reported seeing a second person with him. so far silent witness has received over 1500 tips but they are still waiting on one to crack the case. >> typically thing -- people think this probably isn't the car, they overthink the information. we don't want that. if it feels -- not right, trust your gut. >> if you recognize the man in this witness at 480-witness. >> katie conner with the latest on that locally and now to a shocking crime out of mississippi where this morning two nuns were found dead inside their home and now the hunt is on for the killer. they believe they were the victims of a home invasion robbery type situation. officers were called to the scene when the nuns did not show up for work. police say it was not a

they died. this morning we are hearing from the vic hummes' families. >> whatever motivates them -- my aunt and sister lived their lives to try to make the world better for people who have nothing. >> this morning the motive remains unclearly, heartbreaking and quite frankly disgusting though. and hard to believe today marks one year since a horrific shooting on live tv as to journalists were shot and killed while conduct an interview. when it was unfolding all morning long. the virginia station where alison parker and adam ward worked say even though a year has passed they are still in the healing process. a third person was shot but survived the attack. we are expecting an update sometime toward -- today on a florida mother who gave birth to a baby with zika virus. she got it while visiting her

funny about this, heading into the break a few minutes ago, and eight your boy we've learned -- this eight-year-old was shot in buffalo, new york but officers say the child was just sitting in a vehicle and witnesses told officers they heard up to 15 gunshots. they don't know how many times the boy was hit. our sister station is offering video from the scene of this investigation. dax closer to home what if you had an issue neighbors? if you didn't like who was moving in next door, what would you do? one woman sent a petition and now two years later the city is taking action. the topic is sober homes, where addicts go to turn their lives around and get clean. ashley was worried about whether or not too many of those homes would pop up in her neighborhood near 70 -- 75th street and cactus. >> the way it is set up we could have 10 sober homes on

northeast, heading up towards cave creek and anthem. new river will get clipped by these showers rolling to the northeast. a few spotty light showers in spots like litchfield. each valley has been -- beach spot has been quiet but we've seen spots near queen creek and checkout areas to our west, a few pop-ups near gila bend and also along the 10 moving up towards wickenburg, so wickenburg get wet weather here this morning and we've got strong storms down south of young and also along the rim here this morning, up near the grand canyon also active weather so already getting active across the state this morning and those storm chances continue. we could get a bit of a low- level the action -- a lull in the action but by this afternoon the chances go back up . tonight and tomorrow night -- as you are getting maybe the outdoor activities going during the day, just know that storms

right now we have a traffic alert as parts of 35th avenue and van buren are shut down because of a broken water main and sinkholes. this is a live look for you right now. take a look at some of the water as crews are working around the clock to fix it. we are told it could be a week before everything reopens. at one point a city bus even got stuck in the sinkhole. this is 35th avenue and van buren street just south of the 10 so a very busy intersection causing headache for a lot of drivers so in the next week or so your smart routes will be 43rd avenue and buckeye road can help you get around the closure. as far as freeways go delays aren't doing too bad. in the north part of the valley where it has been with you are starting to see -- where it has been with, -- as rat -- iris

freeway that you are still seeing wet and slick road conditions. we will take a look at the drive on i-17 in just a few minutes. >> i want to update everybody on breaking news. first we start with last night's brand-new update, a triple shooting has just turned deadly as we confirmed two people have died. they were shot near 28th and broadway. that seen is still active at this very moment as investigators are trying to sort this out. five streets from this scene then you are seeing there, there's another shooting happening right now. as this unfolded this morning and the victim here staggered right into an emergency room nearby. megan thompson is on this newest seen if you well. megan, talking about four people shot and two people dead -- are they related?

they can't confirm it right now as they are still investigating and we do have detectives -- i also want to point out this black car, the back window shattered out. that car was hit by at least three bullets. but they are saying the elderly couple who owned the car are not connected in any way but here's what we know also, a man was shot and is in stable condition after going into surgery after being shot in the abdomen. we now know in for information that he went door- to-door asking for help looking for somebody to take care of him so he finally got a woman to taken to the hospital where he went into surgery in stable condition. nobody here in the neighborhood is being as cooperative as they would like. they started asking questions and investigating and they just wanted the mobile command unit as well so they will be out here for quite some time, chris

. k-9 officers are looking for a murder weapon and boom -- there it is. the cameras right there as they found the handgun there. investigators say the scene is near mclean andre ware one person died in the shooting. -- near the queen and ray road. one person has died in the shooting. threat to the public and as of now they have not released any other details. a phoenix mother accused in a methadone overdose. her daughter had another child overdose nine years ago. 22-month-old alan russell died in april, her mother natalie russell now facing a murder charge. abc15 has uncovered court documents about another trial from a 2007 custody case. the boy was brought while in

the judge ruled he was not fit to parent and the father received full custody. waiting for an update on the condition of a two-year-old girl found in the bottom of a pool. we're told the father gave her cpr. she was breathing at the hospital and that is good news there. we don't know at this time how the girl fell in the water. a hot pursuit in deer valley after a prisoner escaped but actually got burned in end. this is an exclusive. phoenix police say they stopped the suspected car thief but before they could booked him they had firefighters take him to deer valley medical center after he reportedly swallowed drugs. at the hospital he jumped out of the ambulance and police say he tried to steal somebody's car. he then ran further to the budget inn and tried to hotwire a car. we're told handed up in a scuffle in the patrol vehicle so that car lurched forward up

as i zoom out i want to show you we've had showers and then tracking south of maricopa but not doing a whole lot down there and more rain that was tracking along the 10 of towards wickenburg so maybe heading toward california for the weekend we could get caught in some of those showers but all in all storm chances gradually trend down through the next few hours. dropping to 10 person by 7 am and then some lull in the action -- dropping to 10% by 7 am and then action until they pick back up in the afternoon. temperature wise, 70s to low 80s so a mild start to your day and it's going to be humid one though as we go through the day, up to 99, humid and more storms possible. the bright spot in the commune has been the east valley all morning long. it's been pretty dry out there

fountain hills but all of this is pushing to the northeast so further south it's a little quieter under the thicker clouds . we have a few isolated sprinkles not out of the question but the bulk of the heavier rain is starting to move off to the northeast and eventually over to the higher terrain and our state. as we go through the day today know that we have chances for more storms and not just today into tomorrow as disturbances move across our state we also see a boost in monsoon moisture keeping things active for the next couple of days. there are still chances for showers this morning. it's a bit quieter through midmorning and then storm chances kickback up just as we head into the early afternoon. we are also an air court -- under an air quality alert. if you have issues with the error zone concentration, you may want to -- today's high is only

chances. keep in mind any chances then move in today or tomorrow will have the potential of bringing strong winds, dust and areas of heavy rainfall so stay alert and keep them overlap handy. i will show you what the weekend looks like in the 7-day forecast next. switching over to the roads considering the with roads we've had this morning we really aren't doing too bad as far as delays go. this is starting to slow down a bit on the 10 approaching the 60. they are staying pretty steady right now but i do want to focus on a crash on the i--- sidestreets. 50/50 is shut down because of a bad crash so as you can see it's not really affecting the main lines here. they aren't slowing down too much. we are trying to get more and from all -- info on that crash. this is one of the spots we saw
