scene. and tonight crews just walking down the mountain called out to the trail after a woman couldn't make it down on her own tonight. abc 15's raquel cervantes is at the peak, and the woman had already been up once today? >> reporter: phoenix firefighters saying the woman already hiked up the mountain once today up and down, and was on her way back up and became tired and dehydrated and needed help. this happened after sunset, still some hikers were out, firefighters had to climb up and rescue the 39-year-old woman, gave her water and helped her rehydrate, and she walked down with crews assisting her. one hiker says she was hiking past her and she flagged him down for help. >> i stopped and talked to her, and inc. tell she was distressed and not feeling well so i called 911. >> she only had a small amount for attempting to do it even once.

minder, even with better reminder, even when temperatures another down, the heat -- calm down, the heat can still get to you. >. and tonight the family of a slain valley rapper desperate for answer. mcdonald was gunned down last week outside the knight's inn. his killer is still on the loose, and tonight friends and family gathered to honor him and ask for justice. chris grow is live with how loved ones are remembering mcdonald. >> reporter: today is his birthday, but last week he was celebrating at a nearby club just before he was gunned down and left for dead in nearby bushes. today his family and friends are asking why this all had to happen. >> all i could do was say keep my brother's name alive and keep his dream alive. just make it right, man. it's hard. >> reporter: mcdonald always

rapper, but the dreams were cut short in a senseless act of violence while he was out on a night of fun. his family is now mourning on the day he was born. >> i know it was done out of pure hate, and i know it doesn't sit well with me. >> reporter: family and friends are left to remember him at the very spot he died, saying he was larger than life and loved many are desperate to know why he was shot and left for dead, only to be found in the nearby bushes. >> i was supposed to be meeting him over here, and i came and found him over in the situation, and now here to relive and think about the situation is hard for me right now. >> reporter: now the gunman in this case is still on the loose, and phoenix police say that they need your help. if you think you have any information that can help them

to call them or call silent witness. back to you. all right, chris, thank you. phoenix police officer shoots and kills a man after authorities say he pointed a gun at them. this happened at an apartment complex at 57th and thomas. police say a woman sent a text to a family member saying she and her two children needed help. her ex-boyfriend allegedly showed up to her apartment high on drugs and armed with a gun. police responded in full force with seven officers showing up at her door. >> the woman opened the door, and the subject then appeared in the hallway. the suspect presented a gun, pointed it at the officers, and one of the officers fired on the suspect ending the threat. >> the 25-year-old man who's not yet been identified died at the scene. the woman and her children were not hurt. and tonight a man is facing multiple counts of sexual

county. the 48-year-old bryan foley was arrested in texas, they tried to serve a warrant this week, but he skipped town. he's in amarillo in a jail, and will be sent back to arizona soon. >. these two are behind bars tonight facing burglary charges. the two were arrested after breaking into a buckeye house at baseline and miller. the homeowner says the front door was open, a window smashed up. police say witnesses and video suspects. a very special ceremony for a prescott woman captured and killed by isis. today a playground dedicated in honor of kayla mueller. mueller, a humanitarian volunteering overseas was killed last year. her parents spoke very briefly today saying they could feel her presence there, and she'd be proud knowing she's bringing so much joy to all the families today. the community gathered to build the space to honor the young

cooperated with police. she say it is man stumbled out into the street and she hit him. he was rushed to the hospital with a head injury. developing at this hour, a yuma man taken into custody after a 36-year-old woman is killed. police responded to a domestic violence call finding a woman outside the home with life threatening injuries. she was rushed to the hospital and later died. a man at the house was taken into custody. yuma police are asking anyone with information to please come forward. and here in investigators trying to figure out what sparked these flames at a home this morning. firefighters from phoenix and glendale called out to fight the blaze. the flames and heavy smoke spread throughout the three- level house badly damaging the garage and attic. thankfully everyone inside was able to get out to safety. this is not the way a valley driver wanted to start the weekend. check out this video. our adot camera rolling when a

and bell road. we're waiting to get more information about what went wrong. a crime alert to tell you about tonight. a valley mall becoming a crime scene after a teen ripped a necklace right off a woman. the thief caught on camera. you can see the guy walking into desert sky mall on west thomas road. this happened july 6th. the guy runs up to a woman, rips her necklace off, caught there running out to a get away car. the woman ran after him but they believe the crook is 17 years old, he jumped to a gray chrysler pt cruiser. if you know anything about the crime call silent witness. >. silent witness also asking for help to find the person that abused a small dog and left it to die. the dog was found with trauma to its body at 69th and van buren in phoenix. maricopa county animal care and control took the puppy, but sadly they had to put it down because of the injuries, and they say if the puppy has been
