some east valley spots getting wet. spots to the east with the shower and thunderstorm activity earlier today with quieting down, so really just watching the east valley and down across southeast arizona south of safford. a few showers and thunderstorms there. walking you through tonight, leaving the storm chance at 10 percent. the east valley has a better chance than the west valley because there's where the storms are coming off the higher terrain to the northeast of us. so slight chance of a little more action near. temperatures in the low 100s to the 6:00 h the end is spent in the 90s. although the chance valley-wide is slight, the spots that do see the storms develop have to watch for gusty winds, blowing dust and pockets of heavy rain. we'll talk more about the storm chances to wrap up the work week coming up in minutes. tonight all eyes on arizona as voters head to the polls in the state primary. >> a lot of early ballots already in, county officials

the ballots sent out were returned. we have live team coverage starting with sonu wasu tracking problems at polling station, and have you -- stations, and have you seen any big troubles? >> reporter: they're always going to encounter problems. nothing like we saw in march, and they have a long checklist to start out the day with. it's a long list of questions that every troubleshooter out there in the field is armed with as they go from polling place to polling place, to solve problem, and those problems started sprouting out early today. several pollings places opened late because workers failed to show up on time, and about a dozen voters given the wrong ballot at one location. and this is called poll worker error. troubleshooters were dispatched to the places immediately. these troubleshooters are the eyes, ears, and boots on the ground for the election office. >> we check to make sure that all the signs are up, check to

for a person wanting in a domestic violence call. breaking news out of phoenix where tonight police are on the hunt for a gunman that opened fire on a man standing in his driveway. the man was hit in the arm, and is xerox copied to be okay. -- expected to be okay. the shooting doesn't appear to be related to the serial street shooting investigation. and police with hands full near 19th and glendale. a family fight turning violent here. this all started with an argument between and their brother-in-law. and opened with all -- ended with all three of them being stabbed. we're used to scorpions and rattlesnakes, but nothing like this. where crews in the valley keep finding these giants. >> and winning the lottery and finding themselves out of luck. why some in our state are not getting paid, at least for now. >. and live look from abc 15, you can see the dust picking up.

the two others are outages not related to weather, and very few people. thousands of people without power. 6:30 to 7:10 is the turn on time. a valley father behind bars and an ahwatukee neighborhood is getting back to normal after a barricade situation this morning. it started when the man took off from a traffic stop and drove to a home near hoeth and chandler -- 40th and chandler. he had two children in the home that he let go before posting up inside the home for he was taken to custody. >. and another stand off near36th and vista where a man was threatening his wife with a knife. everyone is okay. >. up to 15 people looking for a new place to stay tonight after a condo building catches fire. you probably saw the thick black smoke this morning. we're told the fire started at a vacant home before spreading to the complex. firefighters say working in the

>> we actually have a couple of former nfl players at the fire departme, so we had a conversation to them about how does it compare to being in an nfl football game, they say you get beat up in a football game, but this is similar to that. they're just exhausted and tired. >> nobody hurt here, and investigators are looking into how the fire start. and a tow truck driver hailed a hero after tracking down sky hit and the run driver on the -- a hit and run driver on the 17. a the driver saw the wreck, checked on the victim, and then chased down the man. he was eventually picked up by troopers. and a mojave county sheriff's deputy is on leave after shooting and killing a woman late last night. he said he had no choice but to open fire after coming face to face with the barrel of a shot gun the woman was holding when she was pulled over for a traffic stop. the deputy was not hurt. staying in kingman, a gruesome

backyard. he led investigators to his friend's body buried under concrete and dirt. he killed the man in an argument last summer. we're learning the german pilot that flew his plane into a mountainside on purpose failed a key test in arizona. instructors saying he struggled with learning to fly in general, but was promoted anyway. he was a co-pilot for german wings last year when he set the plane for a collision and killed every on board. >. the border patrol with a series of major busts netting nearly a million dollars worth of meth, cocaine and marijuana. four people under arrest, including a us citizen. it appear it is state lottery is out of luck when it comes to the new software. complaints come not guilty from across arizona -- coming in from across arizona because of

it's not able to read winning scratcher tickets. it can still print and read tickets for the power ball and megamillions. people with winning scratchers tickets are told to hang on to them until the new issues are resolved. and now for the forecast. the desert doppler tracking storms in the higher terrain, but just as expected when they're coming off the higher terrain they're weakerrenning significantly into the valley. the storm chance for the phoenix metro is pretty slim about 10 percent the rest of the evening. we have a few pockets in the east valley right now including parts of south scottsdale and along the us 60 in gilbert and val vista, and these spots are isolated, and the showers overall continue to weaken over the next 10 to 15 minutes. farther to the south, two blowing dust advisories in effect in pinal county. we swung the queen creek camera around.

earlier at the base of the superstitions, but now to the west and southwest to capture the dust, and you can see a little of it on the horizon. visibility down to a quarter mile or less, but the dust is starting to disperse a little, so i don't imagine we'll see any reports that low going forward. but we'll keep a close eye on it here for you. slight chance here 10 percent through the evening forecast, 103 at 6:00. 99 at 10:00. dewpoint in the upper hoes and winds -- 40s and winds out of the east. temperatures dropping in some of the spots that have seen the rain, in fact fountain hills and apache junction now down to the low 90s. the rest of the valley sizzling at 105 to 108. to the north, 88 in sedona, and 77 flagstaff, things quiet up there storm-wise, and it stays that way overnight with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s along

the west and in the valley as well. then tomorrow a few degrees cooler. down to 104 here, 101 in casa grande. 93 for the high tomorrow in globe, and payson and prescott in the mid to upper 80s. here's futurecast, and we do still have a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the higher terrain tomorrow, and a slight chance that some of this could move into portions of valley. but the best bets in the higher terrain spots, not only tomorrow, but into thursday as well. they'll get closer to us thursday, and chance to 20 percent. that's the best bet over the next several days. higher terrain spots running about a 40, 50, or 60 percent shot over the next few days. here's the hour by hour tomorrow waking up in the morning. warm start, 84 at 6:00 a.m. 93 at 10:00, and98 in noon. triple digits in the afternoon forecast with a 20 percent chance of a storm, and highs of 102 tomorrow in scottsdale and
