clear skies, but still warm. >> a little warmer than the last few mornings. the humidity is also creeping back up. let's talk about the forecast. we are tracking changes as the monsoon moisture makes a return . right now it's hard to see the mostly clear skies, but it is mostly clear. this unofficially comes up an hour in two minutes from now. once the sun comes up you will see those mostly clear you will feel the humidity. we are in the mid-80s right now at phoenix sky harbor. i mentioned, and we were talking about it feeling warmer when you step outside. by this afternoon the heat is kicking up. we will hit a high of 105. that is lower than yesterday. with the increasing monsoon moisture the storm chances gradually going back up. i

threats to look out for today, next. for drivers heading out in the next couple of minutes, you're not going to find too many trouble spots on i-10. especially in the west valley. headed in on the one-to-one you can see the green. there is a crash on i-17 southbound at the i-10 stack. everything is on the left-hand side. you can see a single car crash in between traffic and the rep taking you to the 10. just use caution as you use that ramp. we will have a look at the east valley in a few minutes. tonight donald trump will be front and center in downtown phoenix. katie conner is joining us live from the phoenix convention center where thousands of people are expected.>> reporter: even donald trump tweeted this, the man -- the demand is unreal. we are expecting thousands of

the doors open at 3:00 this afternoon and the rally starts at 6 pm. trump will focus on immigration. he initially took a hard line on the issue but now appears to be backing down. trump will line up parents of victims who have been killed by undocumented immigrants. that includes the parents of a son who was killed by a drunk driver who was an . he has drawn massive crowds of supporters and protesters. right now an arizona trump and clinton are neck and neck. one poll shows front -- trump had a slim lead against clinton. i have also talked with several grassroots organizations who will be protesting outside the convention center.

here in downtown phoenix he will be in mexico meeting with their president. right now some of the elections are too close to call. officials going over a lot of the numbers. some of the races are razor thin including the republican primary for congressional district 5 in east valley. nick ciletti is life outside the state capital with the latest. it looks like one candidate is pretty optimistic regardless of how close it >> reporter: that would be christine jones. right now up i only about 900 votes. that didn't stop her from practically declaring victory last night. let's break down the numbers from the secretary of state's office. we have christine jones with 30% of the vote compared to andy biggs at his present 29%. biggs is not throwing in the towel yet. last night at party headquarters for christine jones it was all hugs and smiles and cheers.

highway and you will likely see a memorial for someone who has passed away on the road. now adot is making changes. they will have to first approve any new memorial markers to make sure they meet certain requirements. adot says the change to prevent hazardous situation for any existing memorials may be removed if they pose a hazard. adot workers say otherwise they will leave a note. >> they will put a notice on it saying you have 60 days contact us and start a process where we can make sure the memorial is placed in a safe way. >> if the memorial is removed adot will leave a note at the site and store the memorial for some time. what we know about a vicious attack on the valley man who was trying to make a living by selling corn on the street. two hurricanes barreling toward hawaii. people there scrambling to prepare as the big island gets

then we stay in the 90s through 11:00 before the 100s set in at noon. this afternoon the high temperatures make it to 105 around 4:00. that will be the high temperature for today. still a hot afternoon. we will go from mostly sunny skies this morning to partly cloudy skies with more humidity into this afternoon. also the chance for storms. i will break that down in show you when the storms could impact the valley in minus. we are still seeing great speeds throughout the valley. i want to focus on i-10 in east valley. a seven minute desert drive time with no delays from loop 202 santana to the 60. i can tell you the volume is building as you approach the 60 this morning. we have one crash on the freeways, i-17 southbound at the i-10 stack.

his lawyer tweeting the news of his release around midnight for brown was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after an hours long spectacle in at his los angeles home. it started when a woman called police asking for help, saying brown pointed a gun at her face. brown insists he's innocent. he blamed the whole thing on the media and police officers. he was released on $250,000 bail. back in 2009 brown was convicted of a felony assault for beating up his girlfriend rihanna. the los angeles media is reporting he threw a bag out the window of his house that had a gun in it, possibly drugs. he also says he was sleeping through the entire alleged incident. >> he might want to stay out of the spotlight for well. his job was to hand out flyers.

preparing for the first hurricane to make landfall in decades. hurricane metaline is expected to pass south of the big island early tomorrow. last check it was a category two storm. a lot of people are wondering if this will affect us in any way? >> not headed our way. it is moving well away, moving towards hawaii. it will eventually clip by hawaii. right now a category one hurricane. it will clip by hawaii before and moving further to the west. well away from our state. we are tracking a boost in monsoon moisture over the next few days. that means chances of storms gradually going up. we had some storms yesterday move off the rim into the southeast valley. no rain right now. when you step outside plan on dry conditions. we are sitting at 86 degrees. we will warm today into the

slower than yesterday. that means 100s don't kick in until about lunchtime. yesterday we saw triple digits as early as 11:00. by 10:00 up to 95 degrees. breeze at 5-15 miles an hour across the valley. by noon 101 before hitting the high of 105 today. we have the chance of storms kicking in this afternoon. we could see some storms moving off the higher terrain. the monsoon moisture working into better chance of storms along the mogollon rim. also in southeast arizona. that will be key because storms developing to the southeast will have that potential of bringing the dust into the valley. we will watch for that going into this afternoon and evening . a slight chance of storms this evening in time for the evening commute. keep an eye on the storms that could move into the valley.

the abc 15 mobile app handy. into tomorrow a slightly better chance of rain fell across the phoenix metro. a temperature of 102 with more monsoon moisture. it will also be my gear for thursday. by friday -- more muggy for thursday. by friday storm chances dropping through the day. drier air sets in this weekend into labor day. temperatures will stay in the low 100s and we will keep sunny skies going into early next week. the only crash on the valley freeways the 17. southbound just before the i-10 stack. you might have to tap the brake lights a little bit as you get on the 10 at that transition. no delays right now valley wide. about a six minute desert drive time eastbound on the one one from 75th to the 17. continuing on the 101 into scottsdale or even the 51 seeing the same speeds.

us, the attorney general's office is taking action again after our investigation into ada lawsuits hitting valley businesses. asking judges to consolidate every open case filed by advocates for individuals with disabilities. if the judge oks it the ag plans to dismiss all of the groups lawsuits. we discovered the group filed more than 1700 cases just this year. joe ducey here. if you live in a condo you are affected by what your neighbors do. they could be loud or take out a wall that syncs your floor. that's what this man says happen. >> this is a structural wall that spans across your. >> reporter: a feature greg says the unit directly below him had until -- one day last fall he says the lower unit owner hired a contractor to remodel. taking out the wall to open up the floor plan. >> it is sinking down. >> reporter: he says his condo hasn't been the same sense.

>> reporter: and places in between. >> a structural beam was removed without the proper support to hold this floor. he wants his condo fixed. he filed -- he found a contractor didn't have the city evaluate the plans and thought that would get him some help. he says his hoa wanted nothing to do with it. a contractor, helio bird a contracting says they did nothing wrong and pull the permit after the work was started. >> that's when they co >> reporter: inspectors agreed they did not have the permits before the work and issued a notice of violation. that lead nowhere since the permit was pulled later. the beam was replaced but that didn't fix greg's floor. a spokesperson tells me they will have no would roll in ascertaining or verifying if any damage occurred as a result new construction. greg filed a complaint with the registrar of contractors. >> they seem to want to attribute this to normal settling of the building.

phoenix 105. i mentioned the monsoon moisture slowly working its way back in. we are tracking more storm chances for the mountains and southeast arizona. for the valley that means a chance for rain and the threat of dust is there. i will walk you through the hour by hour forecast and show you when to expect that threat in a few minutes. for the west valley right now, those delays of the 10 are starting to set in. they are pretty minor at this point. looking at about a 16 minute desert drive time from the 101 to the 17. this starts just past 67th ave. by 43rd you should see normal speeds again. this is i-17 at camelback. northbound it looks like a truck on the right-hand side. southbound is looking good. i can tell you the crash on i- 17 southbound at the i-10 stack

we will head out to us 60 in a few minutes. a couple of investigations happening now. the first one is a home invasion near seventh street and thomas. we are on the scene. officers were updating us throughout the investigation. the call came in around 12:30 this morning. we have learned two white men went to this apartment and kicked in the door armed with a baseball bat and a gun. a man and a woman were inside on the couch. that man with the bat. he got a good cut but decided not to go to the hospital. the woman was not injured. the suspects between the ages of 20-30, all they got away with was a wallet. is unclear if the couple was targeted. police believe there may have been random. the other investigation happening right now, and investigation near 15th ave.

information that two guys got into an argument. one guy apparently goes outside and sets the other guys car on fire. the fire started and then starts another fire on a random balcony. thankfully no injuries. that could have been much worse. the fire started -- the firestarter was taken into custody and will face charges including arson. national spotlight, donald trump will take center stage at the phoenix convention center for a big speech about immigration. for more on that we will get out to katie conner. many say this could be one of the most anticipated speeches to date. >> reporter: there will be thousands of people hear from both sides of this debate the police will try to keep it calm.

that is a matter of hundreds of votes separating the top two candidates. the election results website is back up. last night if you try to get on their to check the raises you probably couldn't cut it was down. the crash may have been because so many people were trying to get results. it is back up and running this morning. in the race for the maricopa county recorder it is still too close to call. about 350 votes behind challenger purcell has held that job since 1988. she was widely criticized for all of the voting issues during the presidential preference election this year. this is a tough story. a guy trying to make some money, at the pistol whipping that street vendor. he hit him in the back of head during an armed robbery. police tell us that sky who did the pistol whipping -- told us that guy who did the pistol

not everybody celebrate yesterday and by sunset the storms cleared out. it has been quiet overnight. in the valley and across the state, but we are starting to feel more of the monsoon moisture bringing storm chances back. looking at the dew points, they have gone up. the dewpoint is how we measure the moisture in the atmosphere. you can see the dew points our app -- are up. more storms will fire up along the rim today and more storms will also fire up in southeast arizona. you can see the storms wrecked area including much of the state, except the far western portion of the state as we get a slight chance of storms everywhere. in the valley that chance isn't too high but we could see storms move off the higher terrain at into the phoenix metro by late this afternoon and evening. the threat for blowing dust is there as storms fire up to the south and send dust our way. in the moderate to high range
