keep us updated. meantime more breaking news at this hour, the huge back up on i-17 north of valley. it started with a fire in the northbound lanes near black canyon city. as you can see the fire is out, and since 4:00, one lane has reopened, but it did create a 10-mile back up, and this is big on a holiday weekend. so drivers, you're urged to delay your trip north or find another way around this. developing now, a gilbert school community demanding answers after the sudden let nation of resignation of a popular principal. >> and students today dressed in black, walking out of class to express their discontentment. sonu wasu is live at the high school. >> and what are school administrators saying? >> reporter: a just spoke to a school district spokeswoman, and she says they're not at liberty to discuss the resignation, but parents and students definitely caught off guard. they were very surprised, and they're being vocal about it.

state democratic leaders say it's sparking a conversation about politics. back to you. guns, drugs and a game of go fish? right now the search is on for two men police say shot and killed a man during a card game in phoenix. the men busted in the back of a lounge near 32nd and cactus last night where a man was playing cards with other men. he was shot and later died at the hospital. the killer got away with guns and drugs. and a plan suspected of holding up a phoenix bank is the run, but maybe not for long. his face caught on surveillance cameras at chase bank on carefree highway. even without the hat he has the tattoos on his hands and arms. the fbi says he didn't show a weapon, but did take cash. phoenix police forced to fire their weapons on the job when a man charged at them with a knife. turns out he may be wanted for armed robbery. the man is expected to be okay after being shot near 33rd avenue and deer valley. the officer that shot him was

new from the live desk, we're updatings you on the 160 passengers finally getting to their destination. their flight was grounded trying to leave tucson this morning. there was a bird strike and a delta airlines spokesperson said they were headed to atlanta, but went back to the terminal. they were put on another plane that took off around 2:00 this afternoon. he just stood in court last week and said he didn't sexually assault a 2-year-old girl in mesa, but now this babysitter changin pleading no contest. he was arrested last year after the girl's mother found evidence on his phone, and several pairs of her underwear in his car. he'll be sentenced next month. he went unchecked for three years, and now kirk davis helped himself to money that wasn't hid. >> the head of the vfw memorial post 40 is facing series

arizona, and that's it. we're keeping a dry forecast here in the valley, and into the sunday forecast if you have travel plans it's looking very quiet and dry state-wide. so here's the plan. phoenix keeping the triple digits, sunny skies through labor day. flagstaff in the 70s over the next couple of days with just a stray shower or thunderstorm chance tomorrow, and tucson heading to the southeast. 99 tomorrow, 100 sunday, and still sunny. upper 90s for labor day. 77 right now at sedona. 76 in payson. 48 tonight in flagstaff, 80 for bullhead city and lake havasu. yuma at 81, back up to 104 tomorrow. 104 gila bend. 87 in sedona, and afternoon highs in flagstaff saturday hitting the 70s. valley-wide again we'll be in the triple digits after bottoming out tonight in the 70s and 80s. looking at the most accurate forecast, slight changes, but not until next week.
