a big decision happening right now in a hotly contested test congressional race. >> and congress passed a bill giving 9/11 victims the right to sue. what's expected to happen if it make its makes it to the president's desk? breaking news accident a plane crashed in wickenburg about a quarter mile from the airport. >> the call came in just after 7:00 of a cessna 310 down near u.s. 60 and industrial road. the plane went down just after takeoff. >> it looks like the plane hit a dumpster before hitting the

jewelry heist involving drake. police are telling us a whole lot more about his arrest on campus saying that a ruse was used to get past the front desk at the residence hall and got into a room after he talked past security at the drake concert, got on board a bus and made off with the jewelry. asu police say that he admitted he was on drugs at the time. anger issues, this is what

went on a rampage in san diego. officers responded to a report of a man with a dog smashing parked cars. he hit 1 so hard that the steering wheel airbag went off. police don't know where the guy is or why he flew off the handle. it's one of the most exclusive addresss in town, paradise valley. but when it comes to paying for firefighters, some residents report opening wallets. paradise valley doesn't have a town property tax so to pay for fire stations, fire truck, and firefighters, residents pay a fire fee. but town records reveal dozen of people haven't paid in months, thousands of dollars. why are we not going and knocking on their door? the town won't tell us who is not paying. a woman who lives there and has for 50 years said she has a right to know. >> i think it should be public

these temperatures are warming up quicker than yesterday. and remember yesterday? we ended up with a high of 96 degrees and we did have cloud cover throughout the day and more moist ure that kept the temperatures down. the dew points will continue to drop in the afternoon and right now, still humid to muggy. once we get into the afternoon we'll drop the dew points into the mid-50s and we'll feel drier out ther bit of a heat index so it feels warmer with the moisture in the air. sky harbor, 93 and the heat index at 95 and the heat indices are higher in several valley cities right now than the actual air temperature. we're losing the moisture through the day today. this afternoon, it will feel drier and tomorrow, also looking at a drier day and notice how the monsoon moisture will work back up going into sunday and monday when the

but in the meantime, we're looking at the at sunny to mostly sunny skies across much of the state except for southeast arizona with a chance of a stray shower or storm. but the rest of us from phoenix to flagstaff to the grand canyon and the western half of the state, sunny to mostly sunny sky this is afternoon. and tomorrow, there is a slight chance of a few showers along the mogollon rim and show low and eastern arizona. the valley, still looking dry for saturday with mostly un skies but another hot one in case vu plans outside, back in the triple digits tomorrow. sunday, the storm chances will go back up especially across the higher terrain, and the valley, a chance for storms. it's low but there is a possibility we could see a few storms by sunday evening, and storm chasers are dropping on monday, but if we have rain, it looks more promising, and tuesday, a slight chance for storms and tuesday, drier air

it was a mess. chaos in texas after shots fired at a high school. we learned that one student is expected to survive. we brought you this as breaking news yesterday on abc15 news at 11:00, a 14-year-old girl pulling the trigger and then turning the gun on herself. the school is closed today. outrage in kansas city, the aclu filing a lawsuit on behalf in school. the student claims that the second grader's constitutional rights were violented. court documents show that two years ago, the student was bullied by another student leading him to cry and scream. the officer is said to have followed protocol using cuffs to subdue the boy. an 8-year-old boy not allowed to go to school after a deputy removed him from class and issued a restraining order.

the tropical system moving through but no rain today as we begin the process of getting drier air in here. still feeling a little humid out there but it will feel more comfortable here once we get into the afternoon and drier as we kickoff the weekend, too. and it's dry in the valley as we scan the skies of the abc15 desert doppler. but it's quiet across the state. this afternoon, only a few high clouds drifting into the phoenix metro. plan on dry co storm chances for the valley. 93 now and again, we are under a uv alert. the burn time, 15 minutes, so if you are heading out to lunch soon, sunblock would be a great idea or something to protect your skin as the burn time is very short with the high uv index. this afternoon, we'll warm into the upper 90s by 2:00 and we'll make it back into the 100s today but today's high is right at average.
