southbound near greenway. investigators say a 39-year-old phoenix man died. they don't know what caused him to crash the motorcycle but they don't believe at this point that speed or alcohol was a factor. more breaking news right now out of mesa, police investigating a possible robbery near baseline and also ma school. maryellen resendez is joining us live from the scene this morning. we are hearing this homeowner may have confronted the suspect? >> reporter: that's exactly what mesa police are saying. this is the house you can see where that white suv is. the owner we are told came home and found at least two men inside her house. there was some type of scuffle and then at least one of those men were able to get away. one was arrested by mesa police almost on the spot.

police cars racing off to a different location. i followed them. and in a neighborhood just southwest of here, they have another man detained right now. they haven't said whether they have made the second arrest. they are questioning two other men in this house. it appears they have been able to trace this home burglary to another house just southwest of this neighborhood, just like right over baseline, not that far from here. th earlier when they had this neighborhood blocked off. this all happened before our eyes. when we arrived, most of the neighborhood was blocked off and they were looking for a second suspect. it may be they have found that suspect because at least 8 cars raced into this neighborhood just southwest of where this home was burglarized, and they have a man they have handcuffs

sitting on a sidewalk while they're questioning him. they also have two others they brought out of this house that they are questioning. so they have been able to take down the roadblocks in this neighborhood, so it's a good possibility that whoever they have detained southwest of here is their man. maryellen resendez, abc 15 news. another bad crash early this morning on the loop 101 near 27th avenue. a tow truck that was working to remove a vehicle for impound. we are working to find out if anyone was hurt. police looking for the driver who took off after crashing into another car on the ramp from the i-17 southbound to the i-10 westbound. we are told there was also a lot of toilet paper in the

last night two hikers got lost on the trail in echo canyon and now have a ticket to pay. rangers say the 34-year-old man and 15-year-old girl were almost to the top when they got lost and it was too dark to get down by themselves. crews had to hike up with lights and walk the hikers down. they now face a fine of $107 for leaving their car in the lot after sunset. >> the fire department is here. as soon as it's sunset, we can legally ticket. we usually wait 10 or 20 minutes after wards. we give them time to get down here. >> friday a 26-year-old man from switzerland died at the hospital after collapsing coming off the trail. a double dose of good news

dog kennel. melissa hughes will serve her sentence in january. her husband jesse was sent to jail right away. they will both do their time in tent city, and melissa apologized before her sentence. >> i'm so sorry. >> more than 20 dogs died in june of 2014 when the air conditioner in the dogs' room shut off in the middle of the night. will both be on probation for six years. children left stranded at the bus stop. we went to the roosevelt elementary school district to get answers. >> i have some questions on how many bus drivers. >> i don't know. >> i know, but she does. so can i talk to her? >> turns out 15 bus drivers called out in protest.

you can be arrested and fined. the race for arizona fifth congressional district far from over this morning as 18 additional ballots didn't help christine jones. she was trailing by 9 and now she trails by 16. a recount is still planned for next week. the lawyer for jones wants to count more than 100 additional ballots filed in the wrong polling location. aps fighting back this morning after going to court to push back against an order to show its records on political spending. this stems after the 2014 corporation election commission asked a judge to say the subpoenas are invalid. from new york to d.c. to tempe, people around the country will be honoring and
