hundreds of valley students not allowed to return to class tomorrow because their school buildings may be dangerous. two teens shot in a drive by at a party. it's a day that changed everything. how people here in and across the country are remembering what happened on 9/1115 years ago. and -- we begin with hundreds of students in glendale learning they won't be heading to school tomorrow. landmark and challenger closed immediately after school officials said their buildings might not be safe. how long are the kids expected to be out of the classroom? >> well, they won't be back in this building for up to about

right now school officials are looking for a place to put the 1500 students, a place for them to learn hope -- hopefully by thursday. there are structural issues, cracks in the foundation and damages in the foundation at both landmark elementary and another school in the district. it's what you can't see they say it the -- is the real problem. they did a study after noticing some of the cracks. the report came back this week. certainty that the building was sound. after hearing that, it was an easy decision to shut down the school. the fear isn't that the building will collapse out of no where but severe weather events to be a problem. >> there -- whether it's a micro burst or high winds like the hark. if the winds came with it, something like that that would sweep the walls from the bottom,

out from under you. >> reporter: that concern also costly. estimates are going to be nearly two and a half million dollars. they have to install sister walls. there have to be three different community meets for parents who are concerned. that will happen tomorrow at 5:00, 7:00 and 3 comb -- o'clock. that is up at glendale civic center. all that is make sure may -- they make a sunday decision. right now the search is on after a drive-by shooting at a house in phoenix. bullets came from two shooters in two different cars. this was at 80 third and buckeye. what neighbors saw and heard. >> reporter: neighbors said they hadn't heard anything like that.

300-mile bike ride to honor the victims. 300 officers from all over the country riding in the annual ride from d.c. to new york. phoenix officers this year are honoring fallen officer david glasser who was killed in may in the line of duty. and the video and from an apache junction ceremony, veteran groups in the area organized this one. there's a -- a ceremony held today. and one of viewers sent you us these photos of a 9/11 service at the hela bend memorial park. this is a 4,000-pound steel beam from the world trade center. the service was small but very heart felt he said.

a man is in custody accused of shooting a c on a valley freeway. this happened near i-10-i-17 interchange. no one was hurt but the two people in the cay car say had he -- they were headed westbound. they saw a couple in the median. the man allegedly pointed a gun. the wind shield was charityed. the accused shooter is being
