c1 breaking news out of chandler, a scary reminder to watch your kids around water all year long. firefighterssay a 1-year-old boy crawled through a doggie door and crawled into a pool. his grandparents found him floating in the water and they were able to pull him out. crews said that he was alert and on the way to the but didn't say how long he was underwater. we know there was no fence around the pool. more breaking news this morning. four cars involved in a bad crash in advise and we just learned one person has died at the scene at litchfield and peoria. one driver was each in the four cars involved and all taken to the hospital and police have not yet identified the person who died. will you the roads are closed

jail will be marc pain's home until trial. a judge said he is just too dangerous. we learned in 1997, payne attacked three police officers during a traffic stop. those officers told the court they were worried he would attack again and yesterday, he did. policesay payne was in this maroon car when he drove at the officer. between 1997 and yesterday, he had stayed out of trouble. he was reportedly at a protest but the black lives matter leader of the protest denies who he is. >> we vehemently deny knowing this person, and he is known for his theatrics. >> reporter: payne faces several charges and is due in

guilty. >> so if convicted, she could face up to six months behind bars. the mesa police department is mourning the loss of a retired k-9 officer. rico is a 17-year-old belgium melanois. he served six years as a patrol dog before retiring six years ago. and some glendale students have another day off from school, and we have been concerns with the building at challenger and landmark. the solutions was going to be split half-day scheduled sharing space at two other schools but now, students from challenger will be moved to the old cordova primary school. it's vacant and they will be able to have full days of school until it's complete. landmark students will have half days still. and a hospital is going high-tech to protect veterans.

it is afternoon into the early evening before we cool down. no triple digits in the forecast today anywhere in the valley. some breezes this afternoon but just between 5 and 15 miles per hour and they will be much lighter today than they were yesterday. temperatures around the valley making it to 95 this afternoon in fountain hills and apache junction. peoria, 95, also, and 92 in anthem and the 30 year average, 101, and 29, we'll be below average today and the next few days with the cooler air settling in across the state. 97 in phoenix and low 90s to the south in casa grande and low 90s out west. so no triple digits anywhere across the valley or the state. 70 for a high in flagstaff and show low, 75. a nice day ahead and cooler and below average highs.
