the suspect is dead and we believe this is connected to 7th avenue and broadway, an incident earlier this morning. we know that the police helicopter was hovering in the area, a very large police presence. we believe they were looking for the suspect for pointing a gun at officers and for assault. while we were there, we saw the officers leave immediately, some of them running to their cars. now, the incident at the i-17 and i-10 interchange. we know dead. what he was wanted for, that's the big question. we have a question for police to try and get those answers. we have been told that a public information officer is on their way out there, chris. so stay with us throughout the morning. we will have a lot of updates. >> just to be clear, no officers injured. correct? >> reporter: that is correct, chris. we just know that the one suspect is dead. >> justin pazera sorting out

to mesa, gilbert. as you step outside, it will feel cooler than yesterday and we are going to enjoy a gradual warm up. if you want to get outdoors for the bike ride or whatever you want to do before you head into work, things will feel good and it won't be until after lunchtime or around lunchtime that we even see the 90s. so you have time. 75 is the temperature now and i think phoenix will cool further 74 at 7:00 a.m., and we'll be in the mid-80s by 10:00. a cool start in the valley but look at the temperatures up north. the first freeze of the grand canyon, now at 31. near freezing at flagstaff at 36 degrees, so, yeah. it's mid-70 but we are feeling the freezing temperatures up north as we get a preview of

the week. the storm system is developing out west but in the meantime, dry weather dominates and cooler temperatures will stick around through the end of the week. plan on sunny to mostly sunny skies across the state and tomorrow, same setup and going into saturday and the weekend, staying nice and dry, and i mentioned another storm system next week that will bring back the moisture. the storm chances, not completely clear of the 7-day forecast with a chance of storms early next week, and we'll talk more about the warmer weekend outlook minutes. if your drive takes you along i-10, it's nice and light, no crashes or delays here, just about a 10-minute desert drive time, eastbound at the loop 101 taking you to the i-17 stack. but i want to head back to the i-17 from the adot camera now. you might see minor brake lights southbound because remember the ramp that takes you to i-10 westbound at the split is closed.
