mess. we have a crash, and then a semi truck on the left part of the screen. there was a raging fire a short time ago. look at this image. mallory moore is walking back to the traffic center to update the computers. it's still a traffic mess. >> you see people silhouetted against the flames. we don't know exactly how many peop involved. it looks like one of the big dump trucks. we don't know if other cars are involved or if anyone was hurt. >> just to give you an idea of where this was. the accident is in the eastbound lanes. and mallory has been warning, the westbound lanes are slowing down. and just look at all of those lights. the massive backup. mallory has been telling us to

is that the best way around? >> i think in both directions, you're seeing the closure on the eastbound side. i think they are closing it down at the 101. and they'll let the cars sitting there go by. on the westbound side, that's the side that is usually busier. you'll see the hov lane blocked. that's why you're seeing the heavy delays and the massive curiosity factor. people wondering what's going to want to find a different route. that closure on the eastbound side. you'll have to take the loop 101 northbound to 202 red mountain. and even if you're headed to town -- the delays are going to stack up quickly. head out early. text your friends and family and whoever uses the 60.

country. so another gorgeous start to the day. sunny skies, light winds, dry conditions, going into this afternoon, it's going to be sunny and we'll stay dry so low humidity. and it's going to get a tad warmer. in the 90s by the afternoon with the light winds as you're getting ready to head home. today we're in the 90s and the triple-digits are back as we head into the weekend. and then i'll show you when storm chances return in just a few minutes. talk about scary moments on the loop 202. we were listening and watching as a wrong way driver was going 90 plus miles per hour from mesa through tempe into phoenix. the driver finally pulled off near the 24th street area. taking the exit. that western was eventually taken into cut with possible impairment.

this is angering to her family. her life was taken by someone who wanted to take his own. the 19-year-old, keith johnson, was depressed that day. >> you always say you're supposed to die before them. and it wasn't really her time. it's what he did to her. >> that degree murder charges as well as aggravated assault. and he's being held on a $250,000 bond. coming up at 6:30. what her parents have to say and what they hope to happen to that teen. back to our breaking news now. and we have brand new information on the u.s. 60 crash, the westbound lanes near alma school involved here. they are slow going.

breaking news. a massive travel alert. this is video of this massive crash and huge fire we saw just a little bit ago on u.s. 60. it's on the eastbound side at alma school and it's affecting both sides of traffic. and the latest information is that there are 11 injuries here. one very serious. we're hearing that the driver of the dump truck has a very serious injury. this is just happening on 60. let's give you a closer look. i pulled up this camera just a little distance from the actual scene. all the delays are on the westbound side because the hov lane is blocked as well. and i know you're seeing traffic getting by on the eastbound side. that's just some of the delays that were stuck in the middle of it. now they have it completely closed down.

so you're seeing all the red on the 60. and you'll see it for most of the morning commute. so you've got to take a different option. i'm recommending in either direction avoid that area. baseline and southern are good options but they'll definitely get busy. loop 202 is your best bet. we'll continue to follow this all morning long. let's talk about your most accurate forecast. you thought yesterday was cool. this morning, temperatures running cooler. 60s valley wide with the exception of phoenix sky harbor where we're down to 70 degrees. yesterday, the low was only 72. so as you step outside in fountain hills, we're talking temperatures in the upper 60s. peoria, you're down to 66. and levine is waking up to 68 degrees. under clear skies, just a

very seriously. as we take you to florida, they are reporting a non-travel related case of zika. this is a growing concern. and we're learning that florida is dealing with a backlog of 2300 zika tests. state labs cannot keep up with the high demand of the zika tests coming in. the goal is to have the results back as soon as possible some are waiting five weeks. a compromise from lawmakers on zika funding. republicans are suggests they would allow zika funding to go to planned parenthood clinics. a new zika vaccine has been approved for people. 40 people are being tested.

they have shut down everything completely and nobody is getting through. you see the concrete debris. and look at where the damage first happened. you can see the fence just dangling off the side. so we're not sure what that means or which way this impact was. up to seven vehicles may have been involved. eleven patients. one person taken to a trauma center too. very serious injuries that we're the whole area shut down right now. i just heard dps saying they'll start the towing process. i believe an ambulance is moving back there. as people just inch past and look at this disaster of what happened in the area. this is a shutdown for a while. it's going to make the commute a disaster. let's check in with mallory

intentionally caused the crash, trying to kill himself after waking up depressed that day. he took his truck, running a red light. killing one and injuring two others. >> everybody at one point in their life has contemplated taking their own life but not someone else's life with it >> he's expected back in court and facing a handful of charges, including second- degree murder. >> you really feel for that family, the pain they are experiencing this morning. >> thank you for that report. we've all been in the studio looking at the live images from air 15. a dump truck crossing the lanes at the u.s. 60 leading to a fiery crash.

and the injuries -- one serious injury and that's to the dump truck driver. and fire crews in glendale getting a warehouse fire under control before any major damage has started. a nearby tree caught fire. and there's a large response and crews continuing to check for hot spots into the morning hours. bottom line is this, there's no and there's no stops that detain people unnecessarily just to check their immigration status. >> ioning sb 1070 law moved our state to the forefront of the immigration fight. and former governor brewer is reacting to a deal settling the lawsuit. the former governor says i remain committed to protecting

stapley. and past alma school all green for the most part. and then mcclintock traveling eastbound. but you can't go past the 101. you'll have to use 202 or the san tan freeway. i want to give you a look at -- there's another crash possibly involving a motorcycle. u.s. 60 at i-10. here's the hov ramp. looks like traveling eastbound is blocked. i'll get some more details. this is just coming in. all the lanes are slowing. a lot of stuff happening on u.s. 60. and you'll see that as extra delays as well. let's talk about the most accurate forecast. maybe you're taking advantage of the morning and heading out hiking. the temperatures feel pretty good. and we'll enjoy a nice gradual warmup.
