midnight, the third mobile home fire . the nearest cross streets, 35th and beardsley. you saw the intense flames about 13 minutes ago. it's still smoldering with a number of fire crews on the scene. i do not have an update on the number of injuries but i mentioned this is the third one. the two other mobile homes going up in flames mcdowell but one man did suffer burns to his hand trying to put out the fire with a garden hose. the cause is under investigation at this moment, dan. good morning. a busy start to the morning and danielle is off today. let's start talking about weather. what do the clouds mean? it's an indication of the storm system approaching, and that will mean storm chances

right now, always dry as you are getting ready to go out the door. you'll notice increasing clouds and partly cloudy. as we go through the day, the storm chances go up. after 9:00, they will kick in, and i think the best potential will come by this afternoon, possibly as you are commuting home this evening. temperature wise, 79 now to 84 by lunchtime and today's high, 90 90 as the storm chances go i'll break down the futurecast forecast and show you exactly when we could see the storms in just minutes. mallory? iris, if you are near the mini stack, we have a couple of crashes slowing things down, and this is improving. they just moved everything over to the side, loop 202 he been. it was blocking the left and hov lane for most of the morning and it's very slow. i recommend a different route this morning.

impact this is morning. so if you have plans to go hiking in camelback mountains or just making your way into work, it's 79 degrees now and it's still humid out there. our dew points, that's how we measure the moisture in the atmosphere, still sitting in the 60s, and the moist air mass will make it uncomfortable as you step outside. humid day and bumping up storm chances ahead of cooler, drier air that will push in tonight and tomorrow. and we'll ar rather drop to 78 by 8:00 and warm from there to 81 by 10:00. i do think the storm chances ki up after 9:00 a.m. but only to a 10% chance, an isolated threat of storms through the morning. we'll climb to 84 by noon, and the best potential overall in the phoenix metro, likely mid- afternoon into the early evening. a time between 3:00 and 6:00 is when we will see the best

some drivers are still trying to get out of the whipping rain, really dangerous. you can see the rain hitting the pavement hard. we may be getting rain, nothing like this. but iris, you are saying be prepared for the changes here some. yeah. we are tracking storms locally, and if you are getting out the door, you will notice that the roads will be dry. clouds increasing through the day today but not see being rain over the phoenix metro today. it's not northeast where tracking a few light, light showers in maricopa county but coconino and yavapai county is where we are seeing the showers, the line right now and thunderstorms developing in the area first as we go through the day today. and that line of thunderstorms will track towards the valley. and we could see storms in the phoenix metro as early as late this morning but the potential

the storms could be strong to severe in the northwest, and the storms will track further east and they do become more scattered across the valley, not everyone will get a thunderstorm today but we could see some across the phoenix metro and north central arizona as we go into this afternoon, and then going into tonight, the storm threat sits to the southeast tomorrow morning and we will get drier air in here by tomorrow. today, be watching for storms that could produce strong winds and heavier downpour and hail, not out of the question. the strongest storms will likely be to the northwest and an area in green indicating where we could see the thunderstorms. be on extra alert traveling through the country. and in the valley, breezes gusting 20 miles per hour this afternoon. much stronger in northeast arizona where we have wind

we have a safety alert this morning that every parent must hear. three out of four car seats are actually not installed correctly. that's pretty scary; right? it's child apparently safety week, so triple a arizona is reminding all caregivers to double check the car seats. they see that the actual seat is too loose. it shouldn't be more than 1" across and using the seat belt and lap system together, choose one or the other, and putting the chest clip too low. >> there's -- i don't know, 10 tanned types of car seats and 10,000 types of cars. every install is different. so even though you may have had success with one car seat, maybe you buy the second one and it's not as easy.

yeah. when you head out the door, you'll notice it's humid and the clouds too. so not seeing any rain. the drive into work, nice and dry, no rainfall, but we are tracking increasing storm chances through the day. right now, 79 degrees and partly cloudy skies and temperatures will warm to the 80s through the day and briefly touch the 90-degree mark this afternoon. but as we warm, the storm chances will go up and increase i'll show you exactly how the line of storms will move in in just a few minutes. mallory? roads earlier all the delays near the mini stack because of crashes. those have cleared up, but it is 10 and 17, that's where we will see delays. i-10, eastbound from the 101, delays start at 83rd avenue and that takes you to the 17, the drive time does, and that's where things ease up as well.

sluggish, and a new crash, not slowing down too much but loop 202 westbound near dobson, and drivers in chandler will have to stay to the left to get by this. a look at the rest of the east valley drive coming up. my goodness. a lot of damage. a live look from air 15 over a mobile home fire, breaking news in north phoenix. not a lot left unfortunately, and allison rodriguez, she's olson, you spoke to a witness and there are injuries. what's the situation? >> reporter: we know two people were hurt trying to evacuate the area. we believe they were actually in another trailer blocked by the phoenix fire department truck but look at the aftermath here. that mobile home, gone, just done, and it's still smoking a bit. it might be hard for the camera

it was smoking more. all you can see is just the frame here, just charred and blackened with all the of the smoke and with all the water that was thrown on it. firefighters were telling us when they got to the home, it was fully engulfed in flames. a witness said that they heard explosions when it come fire. everything was on fire when they got on scene. that's what officials are telling us, and i am told once hear more explosions, so they are being cautious in fighting the blaze. i am told that they were concerned with exposures on all three sides, and firefighters were able to put this out and two people treated with minor injuries. one of them, a woman, she fell trying to get out of here and she has a bandage around her head. i think she will be okay.

rain anywhere in the valley. and i expect the morning commute will stay dry. storm chances will increase through the day today especially by this afternoon in the valley, and tomorrow, we'll enjoy cooler and drier conditions. we'll have to potentially get through a stormy day, and i am watching a line of showers to the west and northwest. this will eventually become a line of thunderstorms in the next few that's futurecast. that line of storms will slowly progress to the east through the day today. we'll see storms that could be strong through maricopa county by lunchtime and then the storms will continue to track further off to the east eventually becoming more scattered around the phoenix metro. as we go into tonight, storm chances with drier and cooler air in tomorrow. and today, again, the hour by hour storm chances, a 10% chance after 9:00 a.m.

into this afternoon i think between 3:00 and 6:00 is when we will see the best potential for scattered thunderstorms. if you are in the high country, they develop earlier with the threat of strong to severe storms all the area highlighted in the green and yellow. we'll talk about the hazards and the wind in the state next. slow and go in the west valley at 83rd. and we 91st. it shouldn't slow the main line of traffic down because it's at an on-ramp. let's give you a look and show you 91st to i-10, it will be just slow and go on the 10. but if you travel it regularly, it's not out of the ordinary for this time of the morning. a crash u.s. 60 eastbound at dobson and the 202 at dobson as

a new page of controversy for sheriff paul babeu. sources tell us the fbi has subpoenaed records related to how babeu's office used seized criminal money also known as rico funds. critics have said pcso's use of the foundation is like money laundering. and they've also accused babeu of using the funds to fuel his campaign. it may already be illegal campaigning with government resources. or if they're just being used to make the sheriff look good, as he runs for congress.
