right now, rain could be headed to your neighborhood on the first day of fall. abc15 air 15 captured the raindrops. >> we are tracking big changes. as we track those clouds that have been moving in, the showers pushing and from the west also. this time lapse from the environmental quality shows you that it is a good morning. we are now seeing the rain falling across the phoenix metro. even with our phoenix children's hospital valley cam. it is not very heavy. we are not seeing any lightning strikes around the phoenix metro. there is enough to get the roads wet and possibly reduce some visibility. we are seeing the band of showers pushing through right now through central phoenix from about anthem down to deer

along i-17. now, it is inching right over sky harbor airport. this band of showers is pushing east but this is just the beginning. there is a chance for some storms as we go through this afternoon. i will detail your hour by hour forecast out and we will talk about the cooler, drier air that is behind this storm system today. not just one, but five homes catching fire within the last few hours. the police department share this video of the latest fire near 90 but we are told that this home was seriously damaged but everyone living inside were able to make it out safely. >> a second fire at a home this morning and phoenix. take a look here. it started in an attic. it was not long before crews got control of the flames at the scene. this home is near 27th street in phoenix. crews are now hoping that family of five and somewhere else to stay for now. while you were sleeping, buyers reported at three

>> no one was home at the one near 24th street and mcdowell. the man who lived at the home near 51st avenue and lower buckeye suffered a burn to his hand while trying to put out a fire with a garden hose. none of these fires appear to be related. the cause -- the causes are under investigation. witnesses say that they felt an explosion and then saw the flames near 35th avenue and beardsley allison rodriguez picks up the story from here. >> reporter: we are getting a very clear look at this mobile home is completely gone. all that is left is broken, charred frame your everything is covered in flame retardant and water. the cleanup is next. you still see fire crews trying to make sure everything is out. at the height of displays, the fire was massive, shooting planes into the air. it was a first alarm fire and neighbors said they could hear explosions coming from this home. two people did have minor injuries after they were running to get away from the

rescued from the back of this place as well. i am told fire crews could hear these explosions. when they arriveon scene. they have to be very careful. the heat was so intense from these claims that they were not able to get as close as they would have liked. they were able to finally put this one out. a neighbor says the explosion shook him awake >> multiple explosions started happening. the propane tanks started blowing up right in front of us. we were within 30 feet of them as they started shooting up in the air. >> reporter: the fire investigators have to figure out if propane tanks, ammunition or something else. displaces a total loss and the homeowners are in colorado. their son was supposed to be watching this place. that place is a total loss. reporting in phoenix, allison rodriguez, abc15 news. they put out pepper spray. people are running from it. >> police officers and reporters caught in the chaos overnight

death of keith lamont scott. a vented their rage and grief. the governor has declared a state of emergency and the national guard has been called to the scene. >> 44 people were arrested in charlotte and one person was shot by another person there and is in the hospital. as we watch this violence escalating in north carolina, there is growing concern now over our officers right here in arizona. katie conner has more from the loop 202. >> reporter: but a guy pointed his gun at him twice is still out there somewhere. many people are worried that officers are going to be targeted even more. >> there is a war on cops. >> this is a violent, cowardly act on our police officers. it is unacceptable. >> reporter: two law enforcement's are speaking out days apart. this man mark payne ran over three officers with his car then on monday, dps says a trooper narrowly escaped a gunfight during a traffic stop.

across the valley. i wanted to start off by showing you this shot. this is what is heading your way. showers have moved across central phoenix. you can see the visibility is a little low. those light showers are pushing through central phoenix right now and that is also leading to very thick clouds over the valley. have wet roads too. let me show you what i am seeing . this line of showers started way out this morning. slowly tracking to the west valley here over the last few hours. now it is pushing through the central parts of the phoenix metro. we have light showers moving into cave creek east of deer valley. we have rain over the desert ridge market place area. that will continue to track east toward scottsdale and further south of there you can see that the light showers moving over camelback mountain pushing into paradise valley and parts of scottsdale.

that line is not as defined. >> we have the band of light rainfall now moving through the central part of our county, even in spots to our south. we will be watching areas to our southwest for redevelopment of thunderstorms. you can already see if you pop up showers out west. further up to the north, we have more showers moving through flagstaff and ar we even have a flash flood warning just west of page. we have had heavier showers to our north. something to note is if you are in the region along the northern arizona border. in northwest arizona, we start the -- started the day with showers. this entire western half of our state is a spot we will be watching as we go through the next few hours. we will see the storms fire back up in the region at head

into the phoenix metro by this afternoon. we have more moist air sitting across our state. cooler, drier air is heading our way. between those two air masses, a cold front is swinging across and that is what is helping generate the showers across our state. it will help develop thunderstorms this afternoon. as he watched futurecast, the band of showers will continue to redevelop as we look out to our west and eventually pushed east across the valley. there is a chance of storms here as we go through this afternoon. up north, the transfer storms will also continue. by this evening, a lot of the activity will start pushing to the east. overnight, we will see a slight chance of showers and casagrande to show low. the valley will start to dry out overnight and during the day tomorrow, we will see clear conditions. today, watch for some storms as we go into this afternoon. those storm chances have a 30%

if you spotlight buckeye is where the rain started out initially this morning. we did end up with just over a quarter inch of rain. the rest of the valley is under a 10th of an inch for most spots except for the west valley. it has been fairly light so far. there is a chance for more wet weather and some thunderstorms as we go into this afternoon. that is the view right now in scottsdale as the showers track the the northeast valley now. you can see the visibility is reduced. we typically can see camel point. the showers come down and they are visible on our mayo clinic valley cam. temperature-wise, we are right at 82 degrees. showers are pushing through and not cooling us down too much. the dew points have been bumping up. in the 70s at the west valley. upper 60s in phoenix. it is muggy but there is some relief heading our way. drier air will move in by tomorrow. that will bring the dew points

later on. we have to track the rain chances through the day-to-day. the showers you are seeing on the valley cam living right to the northeast pocket of the valley. they are now moving into kids creek and right over scottsdale airport as they continue to track to the north and east. further to the south, a little bit more spotty through tempe and chandler. the rhine -- the line of rain is pushing to the east. this is round one. we will have to watch this area out to our west and southw you see if you spotty showers developing already. we could see some storms develop in that area. those storms will have the potential of tracking into the valley. we have some light rain through to the north central pockets of our state. behind the back light rain, more pop-ups their firing out. these storms and the potential for storms will continue over the next few hours and some of them could be on the strong side. a cold front will push through

across. the line of rain will sweep across with it. as we go into tonight, those rain chances will start to shift to our southeast. overnight, a chance of rain. we are looking at mostly sunny conditions. as we watch for the storms to develop to the west and northwest, there is a threat for a strong storm. hail is not out of the question with the strongest storms across arizona. keep an indoors is the place to be as storms roll through. a 40% chance for storms as we go into the afternoon. we will continue to gradually warm. near 90 before temperature start to drive -- drop off. the other part of the system is the wind. the winds are kicking up across the state testing as high as 35 miles per hour . they will be strong the the afternoon with when advisories posted for

that three officers may have forced a suspect to eat a small amount of marijuana. that man apparently got sick and filed a complaint with the department. there are now two investigations going on. the police chief says that once this investigation is over, they will take quick and appropriate action to ensure everyone involved is held accountable. a fire rips through a mobile home in phoenix avenue n beardsley. witnesses say they felt an explosion and saw the flames. two people were hurt while they try to evacuate the home. the back of the home was destroyed. the nonviolent rally is set for monday. this will be in response to the recent police shooting including this one in north carolina. at least 44 people were arrested overnight. we are on the political front lines here in the valley.
