then they went back to their car, and the suspect put his car in reverse and tried to hit the officers. then another officers pulled up and he shot the officer and hit him in the eye. the suspect is in critical but stable condition. they also found two guns inside the car, and there was also a passenger inside the car. he's in the patrol car right behind me and will be questioned by officer. now, we are also learning more about the officers that -- officer that pulled the trigger. enforcement squad. they do intense enforcement across phoenix. he pulled the trigger and walking through the entire investigation with internal affair that's standard in these cases. and we have brands new video to show you. the moment sparking a similar pursuit in mesa. you can barely see a car speed out of frame, and see the guy with the cell phone, he's letting cops know his mercedes was stolen.

this. >> reporter: it's hard to find anyone these days that doesn't use the gps on their phones, so police told this family that the other driver reacted to their phone, turned right too soon, and swerved to avoid that car, but trying to avoid that crash got them into another that was much worse. douglas martin and his fiancie jennifer were both hurt crash, blind sided by an out of town driver looking down at their gps. >> it said turn here, he didn't look before he turned. >> reporter: jennifer swerved 35 miles per hour into a pole on grand avenue. they both blacked out. >> a second and it was over. >> blood dripping down my head. >> i just saw dust. >> paramedics grabbed me and pulled me out of passenger side. >> i could hear doug screaming my dad, my dad. >> reporter: the real pain is

384387. and three valley students could face felony charges after being arrested for a string of threats this week. there's a map confirming by abc 15 sources showing many of the nearly two dozen spots mentioned in the online posts. now all of these threats feature something eeriely similar. a creepy picture with the threatening posts. >> it really just exploded overnight and effected a lot of people. we've been told from a lot of the different schools that kids are absent. kids are missing school because they're afraid to come to school. >> and police tell us more arrests could be on the way. he took an oath to serve and protect, but he was the threat to police in a deadly shoot out in maricopa leaving a border patrol agent dead. his name is jeremy russo.

that called 911 last night saying her mom and dad were fighting. the kids and mom got out of the house just before the shooting started. >> every now and then you'll see like a flashlight, you know, flickering, but outlain that they did everything they did in the pitch dark. >> police say russo flooded the house then shot himself in the stand off. when will it stop in protests going late into the night over another controversial police shooting. and candidate confessions the day after the first debate. and the highway.

wrong. >> protesters are calling on the police department to release more footage of what happened that day. and a scary situation involving a fighter jet that caught fire during a training mission in idaho on fire. initial reports showed the fire started in the engine, but air force officials now say it's too early to know for sure. they expect the investigation to last another two weeks. thankfully nobody was hurt, but making it more concerning, just recently 15 over concerns with the fuel tanks. you expect them to clean your clothes, not explode and burst into flames. more problems for samsung tonight, and it's not their phones. the fed issuing new warnings over certain samsung washing machines after a massive recall. the company urging owners to continue to come forward following a number of fired sparked by the machines. if you have one of the effected models you should get a notice from samsung. happening now as we take a

underneath that. abc 15 viewer anna sent that in, so thank you so much to her and everyone else who sent the photos into us tonight. as we take a live look at abc 15 desert doppler, the valley is back in the clear. showers and thunderstorms this evening hitting the higher terrain mostly, and cruising across i-17 near flagstaff, it's pushing farther off to the north, hitting i-40 as well, and the showers will continue to push off to the northwest in the overnight hours. watch out for brief heavy rain, the mix as well. the system tracking farther to the west is weakening, and we have a few spotty showers across far southeast arizona as well. overall here's the set up. area of low pressure down to the south that's been pumping the moisture in over the last couple of days, but just south of that is the tropical storm, and we're tapping into that moisture. the storm herself will stay offshore and weaken into

moisture getting pulled up, and we're seeing it on the water vapor imagery. all the green getting pulled across the baja and into the desert southwest, so it will increase the chance of storms especially in the higher terrain tomorrow. for phoenix more of an off day for us tomorrow. just a slight chance for a stray shower with most of the activity confined to the higher terrain and portions of southeast arizona. then we get a little bit of up tick in the storm chances thursday at 20 percent before drying back out for friday and saturday. and friday is the end of the month and the end of the monsoon, so this is the last chance to up the monsoon rain fall totals for this year. right now 81 degrees, winds at 7 miles per hour. a few light breezes expected at times tonight and tomorrow, but nothing major. up we were 70s to low 80s across the valley at this hour and 61 in sedona, and 46 in flagstaff. tonight along the rim lows in the 40s.

low to mid-50s. from the valley out to the west, low 70s. and take a look at tomorrow. still a little bit below average. 90 in casa grande, 84 in globe. 74 in prescott and 65 in flagstaffment for the valley upper 60s to low 70s in the overnight forecast. highs tomorrow in the upper 80s for carefree and cave creek, but the rest of us in the low 90s. still a couple degrees below the average of 96 tomorrow, and really looking great in the morning. 70s through at least 8 if not 9:00 a.m. so the lows r next couple of days. highs at or below average, and a dry and sunny forecast into the weekend with another cool down early next week. >> it will be are you prepared to die? that's a lot to ask. the new plans revealed for flights to mars, but what would you be will willing to act --
