>> this is abc 15 news. taking action. >> good morning, everyone. it is 5:00 on saturday. i'm allison rodriguez. >> body cam video from a deadly police shooting in arizona is out. we're taking action and taking it to an expert to see if police we more protests in southern california when an unarmed man is shot and killed by police. and we're getting video from the scene. phoenix police looking for two vandals who torched this pickup truck at a local restaurant. the two guys were caught on tape. we're the only ones who have it. we will show it to you coming up. more clown threats in the valley. you won't believe who police

a we say good morning to you. so happy you're starting off your weekend with us. pretty mild start to the day. i've been looking it. how about you? >> yeah. definitely it's feeling like fall a little. we will take it. >> i completely agree. let's look at where we are across the valley. most of us in the mid-70s. some spots in the 60s. chandler reading at 66 this morning. we're expecting average wind speeds for us today. about 5 to 10 miles per hour. look at the next couple of days. winds will pick up tomorrow, especially in the evening. on monday, we will be looking for strong wind gusts there. that could create gusty conditions and dusty conditions, i should say, blowing dust. that is a concern. we will keep our eye out for you. mid-90s for us today as well as tomorrow. we are going to see a big temperature drop in the 7-day. we will talk about that coming

get to the scary scene overnight. check this out. this is a truck that was set on fire and the evidence is in the video. phoenix police investigating this as an arson. as abc 15 is reporting live near 32nd street in mcdowell, she spoke with the owners here. and mary ellen, you're getting an exclusive look at the surveillance video. >> reporter: that's right. we just stepped out of the office to get that video for you, nick. this is the restaurant off 32nd street and mcdowell. this is the second time that they have been hit in less than a week. look at this pickup truck, completely charred on the inside. even more riveting is when you see the video. now, first off you see two vandals coming towards this truck. one has either a pick or a sledge hammer. you can see him actually breaking through the windshield. then moments later, you see one returning back with what looks

gasoline. he throws that gallon jug into the white pickup truck and then lights it on fire, nearly setting himself on fire. now, as i mentioned, this is the second time this week that this restaurant has been hit by vandals. this one is -- is being classified as an arson. so phoenix police are out there looking for these guys. if we can zoom in closer to the video, coming up at 5:30, we're going to show them to you. this is the drive-through sign. these are actually bullet holes. that's what happened just a few days ago here. somebody came up and actually shot up the side. now, the owners have told me they feel like they're being targeted. they're not sure why they're being targeting, but they have some suspects in mind. again, phoenix police, though, looking for whoever shot up this sign and torched this vehicle. we're live in phoenix, abc 15 news. >> wow. first bullets and then a fire.

this. thank you for that. in the meantime, a man police believe was walking to a football game was hit and killed as he crossed the street. scottsdale christian was playing a game steps away from the road. an suv hit the man and he later died. police say the driver was not impaired or speeding. no charges are expected. new body camera video seems to make it a clear cut case. we are getting an expert opinion on whether officer-involved shooting in kingman really is justified. i want to warn you, you are about to see and hear how it all went down. >> drop the gun. >> hang on. >> drop the gun. >> taser. >> still tough to see there. now, we sat down with retired assistant police chief andy anderson. he is an expert for lawsuits involving police action. he says to consider officers

having a stolen again. the suspect is told to drop the weapon at least 20 times. anderson solidified this was justified. >> he showed up at that door with a gun in his hands, deadly force. the officers did everything that they could to not use deadly force against them by going to the taser. they didn't have to do that. that was above and beyond for them to do. >> kay was killed. one officer is still in the hospital. another was grazed by a bullet. protests in san diego quieter than the last couple of days. the victim used to live here in the valley. the officer fires four shots after he raised both hands and took what was described as a shooting stance. businesses in that area were asked to close early friday and for the entire weekend.

possible riots and looting following the release of the video while prosecutors decide if any charges will be filed against the saves. in the meantime, police in charlotte will release all of the dash cam and body camera video from the shooting that sparked riots in the city. it could happen next week once the family of keith scott gets to see it first. a valley woman blamed for the death of her infant. clark is accused degree murder. her 3-month-old died. she left that girl in a full bathtub for more than 25 minutes all alone. this happened last saturday and the child was taken off life support three days later. quit clowning around. that is the message from police this morning after fourteens are arrested for posing at clowns and sending threats to

getting disturbing threats, warning of kidnapping kids and killing teachers. >> it's startling for me as a parent because i want to teach my kids to be brave and strong. i tell them to be brave and strong. in the inside, i'm dying inside. i want to bring them hope and lock them in their rooms and not let them go outside. >> nothing fun bee this one. mesa police asking parents to keep a close eye on the computer activity of children. they want to get the clowns off rolling back prices. we're guessing this guy wishes he could roll back the clock. he is looking at steep jail time. let's take a look at the video. it's hard to forget. cops arrested bailey saying he lit fireworks inside of the wal- mart. this happened back in june. people scrambled to get out of the store. we just saw that. not sure what was going on. in addition to the jail time,

she went to the store for a gallon of milk but risked her life all for her purse. this woman we want to show you says kevin leandro threw her down at the fry's and took off with her purse in hand. even with a broken back, she chased him back to his car. well, leandro was arrested and she hopes lesson. >> he knows who not to mess with. retired mesa cop rick van galder arrested for dui. surveillance video shows him being allowed past a door that says no prisoners beyond this point. discipline ranges from a 40 hour suspension to a demotion. scary discovery in the desert this morning. a device was found in maricopa that was a couple steps away

into the same truck. these were the slugs found on the ground. take a look at the truck. you can see where it also got hit. then this morning, just after midnight, somebody came and vandalized this truck. you can first see them hitting it with a sledge hammer. then they come up with a gallon jug filled with gas, throw it inside and lit it on fire. now, take a look because when that arsonist lit it on fire, you can see it exploding there into flames. dangerous situation. phoenix police looking for an arsonist as well as the two vandals. this is what the guys look like. it's hard to see all of the features on their face. but you can still kind of make it out. if you happen to know who these guys are, phoenix police are looking for them. theroux owe they are responsible for not just vandalism but obviously the

we will stay on top of this as soon as we get an update and it clears up, we will pass it along to you. in the meantime, i want to talk about this. a valley mom heart broken and shocked after her 18-year-old daughter's body is found in a buckeye canal. this is gabby gutierrez. she was discovered last friday. we're told she was so badly beaten, it took days for police to identify her. whoever is responsible is still out there. as her mom plans a funeral, holds on to her final moments with her daughter. >> i hugged her and said i love you and she said she loves me. i'm just glad i got to say that. you don't get to say sometimes what you need to say to someone before it's too late. >> just heart wrenching. a vigil is planned at surprise park tomorrow night. more details and the family's gofundme account are posted on abc15.com. drinking and driving and hitting police cruisers in the process, no.

car who they believe was drunk caused all of that damage that you see there last night. this is near 17th street and union hills. fortunately in this case here, nobody was hurt. you can bet that he will be in a lot of trouble. a brush fire raging in the west valley, forcing fire crews to work all throughout the night. look at that burning there. air 15 was near the scene at southern. as the smoke hovered over the neighborhood. crews say they have a good handle on it. they won't be taking their eyes off of it completely out. a deadly crash leading to a traffic mess right now in scottsdale. cactus road from 96th street to the 101 back open after a motorcyclist unfortunately is killed. the driver of that car is in the hospital. we are working to get an update on that person's condition. let's get to a crime alert and new video you have to see this morning as accused burglars get into somebody's

did you catch that? yeah seconds to unlatch and unlock the gate. this is in deer valley. if you rewind a bit, you see the guys casing the place. the one in red shirts appears to call the owner to bring him closer once the coast is clear. the homeowner says they waited for her to make a grocery store run to strike. they got in the house through a locked window and stole $12,000 worth of stuff. well, she is locked up for life for one of the most gruesome murders we have ever cove man who helped put her behind bars is facing problems of his own. martinez was a prosecutor on the jodi arias case. he is now on probation for the next year. a branch of the state supreme court finding martinez obtained evidence by violating the legal rights of others purposefully embarrassing people and unprofessional. that order does not refer to any specific case here but it

martinez has ten days to appeal. now to the tragedy on the tracks and the one man who has all of the answers. investigators are not questioning him this morning, at least for now as he recovers. the train engineer and the control on thursday when the commuter train crashed into the terminal in hoboken, new jersey. let's get to the newest photo of the woman killed. more than 100 others hurt. the ntsb struggling to little clues from the black box recorders of the train. >> we were unable to download the recorder here on scene. so the ntsb is working with the manufacturer of the recorder to perform a download at the manufacturer's facility. >> train service in the area could be on hold for weeks if not months depending on the scope of the damage. who could do something like this dunk gasoline all over that. do you see that? those are the doors of a church. and then he lights it up. yeah. this happened in fort pierce, florida. that man caught on camera doing the unthinkable. it happened in the middle of

and somehow the flames did not spread inside the church. only the doors were burned. residents at a nearby apartment complex recognized that man from his slippers that you see. they were able to tell detectives where to find that guy. [screaming] >> that's hard to hear kids scream like that. a dramatic bus crash outside of houston. dozens of kids trapped inside. it's all caught on tape. look at the surveillance video from the driver loses control after looking away for just a second. then the bus flips on to its side. 50 kids were on board. we're told that more than a dozen students and the driver had to be taken to the hospital. thankfully all of them are expected to be okay. >> yeah. thankfully is right. hey, typhoon maggie may be gone but it left major destruction in southeastern china in taiwan, 13 people

heavy rain and stock winds. entire areas still under water this morning and some parts the water -- that water carrying large rocks and debris and it's going right into people's homes. just devastating there. well, help is there if states are worried about an election hack. arizona already warned that people have been poking around. but although homeland security says it is reaching out to states to get the help they need, they have to ask for the heavy duty p the department says it scans key websites. some states have railroad done this. no word if arizona has. we're checking on that this morning. allegations of a rigged vote. many donald trump supporters don't have too much faith in the u.s. election system. according to a new poll from the associated press a center for public affairs research, half of the people who have a favorable opinion of trump say they have little confidence that votes will be counted fairly. trump himself has told his

getting treated unfairly. hard to vote if you don't know where to vote. people in tempe might have that trouble on election day. incorrect info on polling places sent out to several thousand voters this week. people in two precincts receiving letters saying that their voting location is on apache. but it's really on campus. >> people are going to make time to go to the place to vote and find out it's closed. and they're not going to where to go. and they may not be able to vote. >> the county recorder's office saying they're planning to send out sample ballots with the correct information 11 days before the november 8th election. no harm done, a military judge says john mcskin's comments about bowe bergdahl will not affect the trial next year. bowe bergdahl is charged with desserting his post. mccain made a comment about a

paintings found a decade after they were stolen. >> these two paintings were discovered during the raid of a crime family in naples, italy. their stolen back in 2002 in amsterdam. the paintings are in fairly good condition thankfully. the food and drug administration approving the cell phone device that automatically checks a person's blood sugar and delivers insulin if needed. the approval wasn't expected until next year but a study of 120 patients. the device will be available for people with type one diabetes. more and more adults are kicking the habit. only 14% of adults here in arizona are smokers. that's down from 19% in 2011. heath officials say that translates to 200,000 smokers who have quit in the last five years. health risks include heart disease and stroke. apple teaming up and taking

that requires cancer warning labels. but some companies decide to label everything regardless of where it is sold which is why you see it here in arizona. want to know which chemicals are on the list? go to abc15.com/letjoeknow. if you have a problem, let me know. an earthquake advisory. the california governor's office issuing an alert for most of southern california. experts are seeing a swarm of activity along the santa ana dress fault, in the salton sea area. there have been 150 small earthquakes here since monday. causing authorities to warn that the big one could be coming. the santa ana dress fault that stretches 700 miles through california is estimated to be up to 100 years overdue for a large earthquake. now, because of all of this, california is understanding its game to detect potential dangerous earthquakes. the state got the okay to nearly double its amount of earthquake sensors.

chke d. >> breaking news at the top at 6:00. a live look at the i-17 northbound at thomas. you see all of the flashing lights. reports of a hit and run crash right there. we're working to see if there are any injuries. you can see it as slow going for the left northbound. as cars try to squeek by there. we know there are at least two lanes closed right now. it has been like this for half an hour or so. if you want to avoid this area, take 19th avenue if you're okay with the surface streets or take the 51 or the loop 101 to try to avoid this entire area. we will be keeping a close eye on this in our overnight team is working to get information from adot and dps. we will let you know when the crash clears up.

if you know anything, call police. live in phoenix, mary ellen resendez, abc 15 news. a sad update to breaking news last night at 10:00. a man who was walking to a high school football game has died after he was hit and killed crossing the street. the man in his 40s was crossing tate um last night. scottsdale christian was playing a game yards from the road. he did later die. police say the driver was not impaired or speeding. so no charges are into mesa police to learn more about this breaking story from last night. a robbery at an am/pm. investigators are trying to find the person responsible for this. they're looking into whether or not the person fired shots during the robbery. once we learn more, we are going to be sure to let you know. you see all of that crime scene tape up there just a mess there last night. >> 6:04. new body camera video seems to make it a clear-cut case.

if a deadly officer-involved shooting in kingman really is justified. we want to warn you that what you're about to see and hear is disturbing. take a look. >> drop the gun. >> hang on. hang on. >> drop the gun. >> taser. >> yeah. you can hear that gunfire. we sat down with retired assistant police chief andy anderson. he is an expert for lawsuits involving police action. he said that officers are there stolen scott. s.w.a.t. identifies itself. the suspect is told to drop the weapon at least 20 times. anderson says the next few seconds solidifies his opinion that the shooting was in fact justified. >> he showed up at that door with a gun in his hands, deadly force. and the officers did everything that they could to try not to use deadly force against him by going to the taser. they didn't have to do that. that was above and beyond for them to do that. >> kay was killed.

this morning in the hospital after being grazed by a bullet. in san diego, protests are quieter than the last few days after police released a full video of when they shot and killed alongo who used to live here in the valley. it shows an officer firing four shots after he raised both happens and took what was described as a shooting stance. now, businesses in the area, they were asked to close early friday. and for the police taking precautions for possible riots and looting following the release of that video while prosecutors decide if any charges are going to be filed against those officers. police in charlotte in the meantime say they will release all of that dash cam and body camera video from the deadly shooting that has sparked riots in the city. it could happen as soon as next week, once the family of keith scott gets to see it first. 6:06. we're still working to get answers as to what caused the

jersey thursday. those answers may come in the form of blood and urine tests from the engineer. ntsb investigators are waiting the results of the man who was behind the controls at the time. the tests are standard procedure. investigators say that they have held off interviewing him because of his injuries. the crash killed one person and hurt more than 100 others. quit clowning around. that's the message after fourteen agers are arrested for posing as clowns and sending threats to schools in the west valley. but new threats are popping up in mesa. red mountain high school on high alert after threats of kidnapping kids and killing teachers. >> it is startling me as a parent because i want to teach my kids to be brave and strong. i tell them to be brave and strong but i'm dying inside and i want to bring them home and lock them in their rooms and
