not excused. i was foolish but much younger. i am sorry. in story as you can imagine still developing. keep it here as we get the latest. people are trapped and there are different threats up and down the east coast with this thing. more than 800 now dead in haiti. in florida three people have lost their lives to the storm. >> the hurricane weakening to a category two storm this afternoon. but of course, still a very big concern. more than 1 million people are without power. almost 7-1/2 million are under a hurricane warning. and millions of evacuation orders and emergency declarations are still in effect. matthew causing huge problems for travelers. air travel brought to a standstill. millions of fliers having their flights cancelled. some delayed. terminals are empty and vacationers are being delayed.

either. amtrak cancelled service up and down the coast. we're continuing to track hurricane matthew but also keeping an eye on hurricane nicole just coming into the east. tropical storm nicole not expecting to have an impact. what we will be watching is this monster storm that continues to threaten not only the east coast but watch happening. this threat has not changed so much. still going to make that turn back to the northeast. back to the southeast and evidently back to the south. potentially into south florida and once again into the bahamas as we get into that monday, tuesday forecast next week. so still have several days that we're going to be tracking this system. back to you guys. red cross responding to

the importance of blood donations. since they've had to cancel blood drives in the path of the storm. we're just getting this one in. a deadly atv crash at lake pleasant. the peoria fire department telling us they rushed do the scene just about five hours ago to rescue a man at the bottom of a canal. sadly that rescue did not come on time. it's unclear how this happened exactly. we do know he was riding along. we'll get you more details as soon as we get them in. back in the accused arsonist crying on tv before getting arrested and still causing problems. even though he's locked up. >> yeah the clean up is going to take a while. take around keith vasquez backyard. this was his white pickup truck he was planning to sell it but now he'll be lucky to sell it for parts. leper jr. telling police he was coming from the pharmacy when

start a fire. he pulled together twigs and leaves, put it next to a wood fence and lit it on fire. >> him crying on the tv saying oh my kids and, you know, reacting to like the fire like he was a victim of it. but he's causing victims to feel this way. i'm surprised he didn't care. >> reporter: leper told police that he came back to the scene of the fire to watch firefighters put out this blaze. he says it's going to take months to get everything back an unsolved and violent attack in the middle of the day. there's been no arrests and we are now hoping for surveillance tape or maybe a suspect sketch. we hope that will be released soon. the parking lot of crackers cafe in tepl -- tempe is where a woman was robbed of her purse. all of this happening

southed earn. the owners said the horse let itself out of the pen and then tried to jump over the canal. un unfortunately that horse fell and spent the next 2-1/2 hours fighting for his life. it took a lot of volunteers to keep this horse alive. >> he would hear noise and he would go crazy. but he was just hurting himself more and more. >> early indications are the horse will recover. a stranger went into a mesa woman's home, ate her food, used her shower. even slept in her bed. here's the guy, joshua forgren. cops say a woman returned home with her children and when police got there he refused to come out. another night and another armed robbery with shots fired in phoenix. this one happening near cape creek and yuka. two people stole cash from

cops say the suspects fired at least four shots during all of this. the victim was not hit. shots were also fired during a different phoenix armed robbery the night before. a commercial for sheriff joe arpio accused of revealing way too much about his opponent. why an already controversial add may cause paul panzon more. >> birthday, social security that's about all you need. how did paul panzo's information end up for the maricopa top cop. >> unethical. it's wrong for anyone to expose someone's information for them to be harmed. >> if you have a problem, let me know. i'm joe doosey. a man accused of trying to steal a car.

neighbors. a woman pulling into a phoenix parking garage was approached by this man. antoine noriega. he had a knife and tried to open the door. that's when five people pinned him down. he tried to get away, but there were too many people hot on his trail. it started on the i17 then we're told he committed on thomas. you may have noticed there. that uber sticker in the car window. troopers tell us he's actually not an uber driver which is concerning in and of itself. a rough start to the morning. all of it happening near third street and roosevelt. nobody was hurt but we're told at least seven people are now without a place to stay. a red cross disaster action team is now helping them out. we have video from another house fire overnight. this one near seventh street and broadway. we're still waiting to hear

this. we do know the home was vacant at the time. neighbors actually telling us nobody has lived there for years. rescue crews in tempe helping three injured people. investigators tells us two riders were on this bike. both taken to the hospital. no word on how they're doing or what caused them to slam into the car. who steals a scooter from a kid. apparently this guy. police say nicholas hoyte chased down a 13-year-old boy and his friends on guadalupe. neighbors recognized him and told the cops. he was arrested the next day. officers finding more than 200 pounds of pot in a car at the port of entry. the officers found the drugs hidden in different areas of

-- latino community groups know it. >> that's why they're registering as many people to vote. >> reporter: they have a small office but they're having a big celebration. maybe you notice by the balloons over here or this big number. they say they've registered 8,000 voters here alone for the upcoming election and what's happening here. we're seeing repeated again and again across the valley. it was easy to help bolster hispanic voter registration numbers. volunteers set up camp, brought their forms to the federal courthouse. waiting for this group of newly minted u.s. citizens. they just beat monday's registration deadline. >> we're the last set of people that are actually going to be eligible to vote for this upcoming election. >> that means we have a voice and we get to vote. we have to be involved on the politics of this country because we live here and we're part of it.

there is sure to have more fireworks after that released tape of donald trump. a piece of plane wing that was found in may is confirmed to be from that flight it's the third piece of debris that is linked to the ms370 vanished heading to beijing. a billboard popped up saying hey isis you suck. it also includes a verse from the koran that saids life is sacred. remember similar billboards going up in the valley. this showed up in august over eastbound i10 near 67th avenue. the campaign all started with a billboard in chicago.

tonight continuing on its destructive path. the storm moving north after battering the florida coast. now it's headed into georgia and at least three people are dead behind this storm. power out for more than a million others. evacuation orders remain in effect. we'll have a look at that coming up in the 6:00 hour as well. outside closer to home we're beginning to see some changes. these clouds beginning to thicken up just a little bit seeing a little return of rain chances for the valley going up as we go through the overnight hours we'll stay dry. not finding any rain showers with the clouds out there right now. as you look at the satellite radar composite across the phoenix metro. here's what we're looking at with these rain chances overnight clouds increase. disturbance works its way into arizona. that brings those overnight rain chances up to 20%. 30% chance tomorrow morning. and then when we get into the afternoon and evening hours

and we'll leave a lingering chance with clearing skies as well. more on those rain chances in a couple of minutes but first current conditions. a lot going on. the fair kicked off today. we have high school football we're sitting in the 90s. it's very warm out there. even with the clouds over head. the clouds stretching all the way into the high country. again not seeing any rain. as we look at the composite statewide. showers down in mexico right now. you look at the futurecast with me. the clouds moving to the north. by tomorro looking at that 20 to 30% chance of rain across the valley. this will continue to move north as we go through those late morning into the afternoon hours. best chances for some showers and thunderstorms tomorrow. will be across the high country with lingering chances across the eastern part of the state. over all sunday we'll be begin to clear things out. temperatures at 64. 83 in kingman. 90 in bull head city. again we do have those 90s

with the highs. low tonight near freezing in flagstaff. 40s in prescott. 63 in sedona. even though we have the chance of rain we're expecting more clouds. our highs are still going to be in the 90s so we won't take a lot off those highs tomorrow maybe a couple of degrees here in phoenix. 80 in globe, tomorrow show low you're at 67, 63 with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the area across the high country there in flagstaff. here's a look at the tonight. due to the clouds that will be rolling in and sticking around. we'll have a slow start tomorrow morning. sun devils in town kick off at 7:30. taking on the bruins. go look for a dry forecast just about a 10% chance of a lingering rain chance. over all it's looking pretty nice. as we wrap up the game we'll be in the upper 70s. take a look at the extended forecast. not too far from the 100-degree mark coming up on sunday.
