this is abc 15 mornings. we will get to the weather in a minute. first, breaking news. a scary scene for people at an apartment complex. let's check in with christopher. >> dozens of firefighters called out to one person rushed to the hospital. megan thompson is on the scene. we saw that victim being worked on by fire crews. what is the situation? >> reporter: right now she is in critical condition. we saw the compressions being done on that woman.

crime tape is up and blocking off, we're zooming in on the apartment complex with that black charred area. smoke was billowing out of the first floor apartment. the woman in critical condition. this started around 2 am. crews were able to stop the fire from actually spreading. they didn't know anyone was inside until they went through the search and found the woman inside and started cpr as quickly as possible. she was rushed to the hospital in full code, which means she wasn't breathing. we are waiting to hear if there is an update on this person's condition. she and her son were both -- a neighbor tells us she and her son were both sound asleep when they were woke up by this chaotic scene. >> i looked out the window and didn't see anything. all of a sudden i heard like breaking glass in the back.

29th st. and washington will be the location of this one. a fertilizer plant caught fire. dozens of firefighters on the scene. they had to act fast. phoenix fire crews saying if filled this large warehouse with smoke from floor to ceiling. they got the fire under control using a large amount of fans to clear out the smoke. a couple of bags of a fertilizer caught fire. no cause of fire or injuries at this time. >> lover or something much deeper? a man is hit by a car. the chandler pd leaves his ex- girlfriend was driving. it happened just outside of a cbs near ready and price road. the guy taken to the hospital after the driver drove off. no word on his condition. we are working to find out if the driver has been tracked down. could this woman be working for isis? federal investigators would

she plotted to set off bombs and tried to kill as many people as possible. michelle basten facing terrorism charges. she says she and her husband were plotting to set off bombs in a vending machine at the lewis prison. that is according to court documents. thomas is an inmate there serving a life sentence for murder. authorities believe she converted to radical islam will behind the bars. court conversations also recorded them talking about isis. she is in jail until she can post $100,000 bond or the next hearing to revoke any kind of a release. coming up, we will talk about why a terrorism expert says she may not be what they're calling a legitimate terrorist. much more on that coming up. right now we are working to find out how a teenager is

while riding his bicycle in gilbert near jermaine and power. we know he was rushed to the hospital in bad shape. we are told the driver hit the 15-year-old bicyclist who was crossing at the time. officers are trying to piece together whether the boy was crossing with a red light or a green light. a teenager is in critical condition. mason -- mesa police asking you to keep your eyes open for a dangerous man. look at is this man attacked a woman last week at her home near lindsay and adobe roads. it happened october 3. sometime in the evening. the victim stepped outside to feed her pet and the guy grabbed her by the arm, forced her inside and sexually assaulted her. >> it is really disgusting and it shows you that you have to be cautious. it is really sad. >> it's a nice quiet

not suspecting somebody would do something like this. >> 45-55 years old. 5'4", 200 pounds with salt and pepper hair and a mustache. he had on a red t-shirt, blue jean shorts and glasses. he might be driving a gray or silver four-door car. if you have seen him contact police. the crime alert in phoenix. surveillance video shows the nonviolent stuff. police saying this is a shopping spree that happened after that man and woman groceries in the parking lot. it happened at the fry's at bill and kate them. they kicked, punched, snagged the woman's purse as they sped away. this is video from august 30 showing the culprits after using the stolen credit cards at another store. i need to show you some surveillance video. hopefully you can help solve a murder case.

pinpointing this storm. what you see? >> multiple storm systems tracking into the pacific northwest. seeing the heavy rain falling in spots like seattle and portland. we're watching the storm systems to our northwest. it does look like most of them are going to miss us to the north. at most we will get some clouds in the state through the day today. you will notice some high clouds through northern arizona this morning. this afternoon high clouds in the valley. the rain, storm systems staying north of our state. today all dry. 71 and clear skies now and up to 95 with mostly sunny conditions for the afternoon. we will talk about the weekend and warm weather on tap. i will show you if we have any rain chances in the seven-day forecast. freeways are looking light

two officers were shot in boston. the man accused of pulling the trigger and shooting officers has been arrested here in the valley. kirk figaro it is his name. he was booked just booked into our jails six years ago for an outstanding warrant out of georgia. we know he was not licensed to own a gun in massachusetts where this standoff occurred. he was killed after meeting officers at the door. he had a knife and a tactical shotgun. they believe it started when figaro a got into threatened to kill him. both officers that were shot remain in critical condition. this guy is connected to a brutal crime accused of breaking into his ex- girlfriend's house and assaulting her 78-year-old grandmother. his name is eddie florez. he was apparently in a long curly wig and had a bandanna over his face when he broke in. when he zaks walked and she found her grandmother tied up. florez was arrested. the 78-

not been able to tell police were some of the mynheer injuries on her body came from. a heartbreaking story. one-month-old baby falls to her death after the elevator doors open up. the elevator wasn't there. the 21-year-old mom was on the 20th -- 23rd floor waiting for the elevator. she pushed the stroller through the doorway and the baby fell nearly 10 floors. investigators say the building has had dozens of elevator violations over the last 15 years. report on guns and kids. a young child is killed or injured in an accidental shooting every day. 113 children and all were killed in 2014 and accidental shootings. the ap and usa today are working to confirm that data. advocacy groups are arguing guns should somehow be childproof.

heartbreaking update. we learned she has passed away. we knew it didn't look good. we were on the scene as she was receiving cpr and pulled out of the apartment. we saw her on the ground getting cpr. crews did not waste a moment before the gave her the attention she needed. she was in full code which means her heart had stopped. they quickly got her to the hospital. we just learne away. neighbors telling me she is probably in her 50s. they didn't know her name or if she lived alone. one man told me she helped a lot of transient people in this particular area. the smoke started billowing out of the apartment around 2 am. most of those who lived nearby were woken up by the sound of breaking glass or sirens. >> they were banging on the roof, the doors, it was like a war zone out here.
