a fast-moving fire, a smoke- filled apartment became a deadly combination for one woman in north phoenix this morning. megan thompson has been following this story all morning. any idea what caused this? >> reporter: that is what investigators are trying to figure out if they do tell us the fire doesn't look suspicious but it definitely is tragic. the woman lived inside this apartment complex. you can see damages. the walls, furniture, charred and everything peeling off and the black. the smoke was so severe it was climbing up the balcony wall and making its way to other apartments. three people forced out of their homes because of the smoke and water damage. the red cross is helping them find a place to stay. this started around 2 am. one neighbor telling us it was the smell that woke him up. he called 911 after seeing what

>> they were banging on the roof and on the door, it was like a war zone out here. i was scrambling to make sure everyone was awake. i was confused and i'm screaming get out of the house. >> no one else was hurt. >> reporter: investigators believe it was smoke inhalation that eventually took the woman's life. we are told maintenance crews will be on the scene today assessing the damage and boarding up all of the wall and windows. in phoenix with abc 15 news. a couple of other fires. a warehouse filled with fertilizer caught fire at 29th st. and washington. the smoke filled the room crews had to use fans to clear out the air investigators are trying to figure out how that started. you might smell smoke along the i-10 in the west valley. a tanker truck burst into flames

inches, 200 pounds with salt and pepper hair and a mustache wearing a red shirt and blue jean shorts and glasses. you might be driving a gray or silver four-door car. this guy is connected to a bizarre and brutal crime in phoenix. he is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's house and assaulting her 78-year-old grandmother. eddie florez was allegedly in a long curly wig with a bandanna over his face when he broke into the home. when his ex walked in and she found her grandmother tied up. florez was arrested woman has dementia and it has not been able to tell police much about where the minor injuries on her body came from. and mma fighter is fighting sexual assault and kidnapping charges. his name is rodolfo romero's. he was supposed to be today for the arraignment on 12 counts postponed until next week. police say ramirez kidnapped an unconscious woman. they say that is him right there near old town scottsdale. officers say that woman was attacked three different times.
