it has been a quiet night across the valley. high clouds yesterday. not the case this morning. we are starting out nice and clear. as you make the early morning plans, the temperatures are nice and cool too. we will stay in the 60s through the 7:00 hour. before the 70s set in by 8:00. perfect if you want to have the cup of coffee on the patio or another warm one on tap. i will show you how quickly we will get into the 90s with the hour by hour breakdown coming up. swimming with the dolphins in the desert? you can do that today in scottsdale. but not everybody is happy about it. mary ellen, when are the

>> reporter: there will be one of two protests today, the first one starting at 9:00 a.m. where the dolphin exhibit is set to go. there have been two groups trying to stop this from opening. the website boosts four dolphin experiences, including letting you be a trainer for the day. opponents say this is animal abuse. salt river indian community months ago asking that they shut it down. over 100,000 people signed a petition hoping to shut the doors down. but it never happened. they're saying no to captive dolphins right here in arizona. >> just because it's legal doesn't mean it's ethical or right to exploit these beings for our entertainment is just old school.

statement earlier this year, the company sent us a statement saying that the dolphins were all born in captivity and they will be watched over by licensed veterinarians and that the mission of this is to basically amaze, inspire and of course educate people and empower them about marine life. we will have more about the protests coming up. >> controversy. thank you, mary ellen. police investigating a homicide after a man is attacked and killed. the 39-year-old man was stabbed near 19th avenue in peoria. we asked but police are not saying if the killer is in custody. a bad crash on the loop 101 overnight. you may have had to deal with the traffic mess. this is ground video that

and if anyone was seriously injured. two motorcyclists were racing and rear-ended a vehicle. both were taken to the hospital but expected to survive. a neighborhood pushes on to close an alleyway in a north phoenix neighborhood. you just saw that guy bobbing around on surveillance video. now, police say the guy exposed himself to the girls happening last among those leading the event to shut down the alleyway, two- thirds of the neighborhood has to agree and then the city has to sign off on it. tom wants to put up a metal gate and block it off. in the meantime he walks around his yard right now with a gun. >> this is a nice neighborhood. and, you know, the criminal highway goes right through the middle. >> we just checked and the exposure suspect is still on the loose.

how four people are doing after a violent crash in glendale. a man and woman were rushed to the hospital in bad shape. two teens were also badly hurt. they were all trapped until firefighters cut them out. witnesses say it was the sound of the crash that really grabbed their attention. >> i was riding my bike and i heard this -- with the rail. i turned around and the car that was over there earlier, it hit the rail and then got stuck. >> the hit them was detained and being tested for possible dui. we're waiting to learn if charges will be filed. people on the east coast are still dealing with the after effects of hurricane matthew. we're learning that the death toll has climbed. a man was found drowned in his home in south carolina, making five deaths in the state now. the man refused to leave his home when rescuers warned him

were riding fast. hurricane matthew is responsible for 41 deaths in the u.s. and more than 500 in haiti. meanwhile strong winds, heavy rain pounding the pacific northwest, knocking down trees and blocking roads and now causing power outages. you can just see how bad it is in spots. dozens of neighborhoods dealing with flooding. this video out of portland, thousands of homes are without power as utility crews prepare for another busy day the winds so strong in some parts that a pair of tornadoes touched down. and a little background for you, after the tornadoes touchdown, here is perspective. the national weather service in portland has only issued 13 tornado warnings between 1986 and 2013. yesterday alone, they issued ten warnings and two were confirmed tornadoes. >> wow. i knew they were rare not that

shoots at a police officer. the police officer grazed by a bullet in the head. this all happening in the sunset district. police are now canvassing the area and reporters with the abc station there says the hospital is on lockdown where that officer is currently being treated. this may be hard to watch. disturbing dash cam video released from the chicago police department showing a violent encounter with a suspect. wow. look at t officers were trying to arrest huff when he attacked a female officer, slamming her to the ground and repeatedly hitting her. >> she knew that she should shoot this guy because she didn't want the family or the department to go through the scrutiny the next day on national news. >> the officer remains in the hospital with a serious head injury. the suspect was high on pcp. a set back this morning for

deadly sandy hook shooting. a judge struck down the lawsuit that the victims' families brought against the manufacturer of the gun used in the attack. attorneys for the families argued there's an exception in the law. 26 people died in that 2012 attack, including 20 children. turning now to a new disturbing report on gun violence. a young child is killed or injured in an accidental shooting in the single day. accidental shootings claim the lives of 113 kids in 2014. the associated press and "usa today" working with a nonprofit to con first responder the numbers. advocacy groups arguing that guns should all be child proof. he has been dubbed the world's most know nor cuss drug lord. we're learning when el chapo could be sent to the year. it could be as soon as january

surveillance after escaping not once but twice sparking an international manhunt. america fell in love with his red hair, big nose and floppy shoes. now ronald mcdonald is being side lined. mcdonalds will refrain from using the clown at events. it is in response to creepy clown sightings. >> clowns are they're funny. a clowns lives matters march was organized for today in tucson but the organizers got death threats so they canceled. not all clowns are scary. >> what have we come to. let's talk about the most accurate forecast. switching gears. maybe you're waking up with us early today. temperatures across the valley down into the 60s this morning. it's not just phoenix.

athlete would just come to be with me just for a seizure. and to pray for me, it was very gracious. >> now, he says that tebow helped him stay calm by talking about movies and of course something that he knows a lot about, college football. more drugs off our streets this morning. two women arrested in douglas for trying to smuggle them across the border. a k-9 found 200 pounds hidden in a cadillac. then 30 pounds was found in the gas tank of a mercedes. the drugs are worth $125,000. be careful behind the wheel. most of us drive the i-10 every day. it is ranked the fourth dangerous road in the country. number one is highway 99 in california, followed by i-45 in texas. 95 from florida to maine came in third. and the fifth is i-75 from

there's several closures and restrictions this weekend on our valley freeways. the first one in the east valley on i-10 eastbound. that will be down to one lane. this is east of loop 303. 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on monday. you will see delays there. you can also take side streets to get around that. out in the east valley, a closure on loop 202. this is from cooper to sand road. basically the 101 there. 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. restrictions on state route 247. look out for delays there as well. 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on saturday. there's a couple other things to watch out for on the roads this weekend. head to abc15.com for a list. 5:16. more progress to show you on a project that will impact drivers and pedestrians. we're talking about the work on the bell grand bridge.

agency announces a big delay. juno has a valve issue. that mean its mission to get closer to jupiter has been pushed back to december. the next phase was supposed to happen in a few days. juno is scheduled to make three dozen similar fly-byes over the next year and a half. now that's delayed because of a valve issue. we're talking about the most accurate forecast this morning. iris, we're loving the temperatures. i walked larry before work. it felt great. i guess we should enjoy it while it lasts because it's going to get warm. >> we start out nice and cool. but the afternoons are warm. today, similar setup. as you make the plans early this morning, right now it will feel great as you step outside. maybe you want to head out before sunrise. sunrise at 6:33. if you want to head out early, that temperature is sitting at 68 right now in phoenix. wind out of the east/southeast at 8 miles per hour.

wide. 68 in phoenix. we have cooler spots at this hour. goodyear, you're down to 64. good morning in peoria, you're down to 61. with upper 60s in deer valley. low 60s in mesa and gilbert. mountain hills are right there with him. so a nice and comfortable cool start across the valley. again, under clear skies. and it's colder up north course. with 40s in prescott. 42 in flagstaff. waking up to 54 in payson. in shiloh, we're at 50 degrees. all clear across the state as far as rain goes. we have a few high clouds across northern arizona. thin high clouds, similar to the last couple of days. as clouds spill into the state thanks to storm that's have been impacting the pacific northwest. we will continue to see the storms moving into the pacific northwest throughout the day today.

winds as a train of storm systems basically takes aim for that area for today and the next couple of days. the storms will be north of our state. as we have high pressure sitting over our region, especially to the southeast. that will keep the storm track to the north. you will notice on futurecast, that's exactly what we're seeing. the storms and wet weather all staying north. meanwhile we have high pressure in control. that will keep our skies clear to mostly clear for the next few days and keep the dry. going into next week, another ridge of high pressure moves in over our state. storms again stay to our north. and so that means our dry stretch does look to continue. not just this weekend, but even into next week. futurecast is working. we're all in the clear today. sunny skies through 6:00 this evening. going into tomorrow, we will wake up to clear conditions again with sunny skies through the day. and even into monday all is clear. in fact the next 7 days still looking dry.

if you haven't yet. you have a nice stretch of dry weather. it's not just the valley. the high country staying dry. so maybe this weekend you will take advantage of the clear conditions. it will be a great weekend to head up north to check out the fall colors. temperature-wise, 70s in prescott today and tomorrow. shiloh in the low 70s. and flagstaff near 70 today. tomorrow only in the 60s. again, great for chec fall colors this weekend. if you're staying in the valley, temperatures not bad here. 68 right now. we will warm to the upper 80s by noon with a high of 95 today. temperatures very similar to where they were yesterday. yesterday we hit 96. today, 95. still warm as we go into this afternoon. again, the 90s don't set in until the early afternoon. so you have time this morning. low 90s tomorrow. low 90s monday and tuesday. passing high clouds early on monday. but that is it. we will stay dry it looks like

experience is going to give people a greater appreciation for marine life and of course the dolphins. we're live in scottsdale. abc 15 news. he's armed and dangerous. the hunt is on for the valley's latest bank roer. this is the guy that police are looks for. it happened inside of a fry's at chase and bell. he pointed a gun at the teller and demanded cash. the suspect is a white man with he is six-two and 190 pounds. at the time he was wearing a fedora style hat. police are still looking for this couple after a woman's purse was snatched out of her shopping cart while she was unloading her groceries, violently attacking her. if you know anything about the suspects, call police right away. a major crime trend to tell you about this morning,

outside. one woman says that crooks tried to steal her tires. it happened near 44th street and thomas. the thieves were stopped by wheel locks but stole the lug nut covers. thieves targeting her truck on center blocks. >> it is a little creepy when you're in your own neighborhood and somebody is trying to figure out what they're going to steal. >> tina says that several of her neighbors reporting thefts of other car parts and bikes. so far no description of the thieves. we will tell you if police has any luck. in the wildfire watch this morning, a path of destruction in nevada. a wildfire burning more than 2,000 acres, destroying 22 homes. right now 500 structures are threatened. strong winds are making things worse. people forced to evacuate between reno and carson city. the fire starting where a

intense airstrikes taking place friday between rebel groups and the syrian government. >> she knew that she should shoot this guy because she didn't want her family or the department to have to go through the scrutiny the next day on national news. >> right now a chicago officer is in the hospital with a serious head injury. she was trying to arrest a suspect when he attacked her. sigh it on this cam video. take a look. the suspect is seen slamming the officer down to the ground, grabbing her hair and immediately hitting her. it took several officers to restrain him even though they were using a taser. police say he was high on pcp at the time. a manhunt underway in san francisco after somebody shoots at a live. the officer grazed by a bullet in the head. this all happening in the sunset district. police are canvassing the area and reporters with the abc station there says that the

drive every day, i-10, now ranked as the fourth most dangerous roadway in the entire u.s. number one is highway 99. that's in central and northern california. followed by i-45 in texas. i-95 from florida to maine. and coming in fifth is i-75 from florida to michigan. i lived right off of i-75 when i lived in fort myers before moving here to phoenix. move over midsized sedans there is a new family car in town. the top selling vehicle in the u.s. it just announced it has a bigger engine and more leg room and more cargo space. that goes on sale in december. there are several closures and restrictions this weekend on the valley freeways. the first one in the west valley on i-10 eastbound. you will see that down to just one lane. this is east of loop 303. 10:00 p.m. friday until 35:00 a.m. on monday. down to one lane.

begin at 9:00 and at 4:00 this afternoon. we're live in scottsdale, abc 15 news. >> majestic creatures. generating a lot of controversy this morning. he is armed and dangerous. the hunt is on for the valley's latest bank robber. this is the guy that police are looking for. it happened inseed a fry's at chase and bell. he pointed a gun at a teller and demanded cash and then got in his car and he is six-two, about 190 pounds. he was wearing a fedora-style hat when it happened. this is the second time in two weeks that something has happened. police are looking for this couple after a woman's purse was snatched out of her shopping cart while unloading her groceries, violently attacking her. if you know anything about these suspects, please call police right away. a major crime trend to tell you about, especially if you park your car outside.

between reno and carson city. the fire started where a control burn was set earlier. so far no containment. a major highway connecting reno to lake tahoe is closed right now. and people on the east coast are still dealing with the after effects of hurricane matthew. and this morning, we're learning the death toll has climbed. a man was found drowned in his flooded home in south carolina. making five deaths in that state. authorities say the man refused to warned him that two rivers near the town were rising fast. hurricane matthew is now responsible for at least 41 deaths in the u.s. and more than 500 deaths in haiti. and the economic impact of hurricane matthew on haiti is devastating. agriculture officials say it could be a decade before the country fully recovers. haiti relies heavily on fishing and farming.
