iraq's main fight against militants is now in the second week, and the progress being made for the city of mosul is advancing forward. three directions now with support from u.s. air strikes and american soldiers as well. this video shows damage left behind in a christian town recaptured by the iraqis. that town is nine miles east of mosul. the iraqi progress on other fronts has been a bit slower. mosul is expected to take months. >> this morning, security has been stepped up in the pakistan following a deadly terror attack. at least 59 police recruits were killed when gunmen stormed a training center. it's believed to be the work of an al qaeda affiliated group. here's abc's molly hunter.

southwest city of quedda, terrorists storming killing police trainees, and started a battle to rescue 200 others. more than 88 people were wounded, suffering gunshot wounds, some sustaining injuries after jumping off the roof to escape the attack. the government says between four and six attackers, at least three gunmen approached the training center shooting the guard in the watchtower first, and then entering the training center. two attackers then exploded suicide vests. the counterterrorism operation was long and bloody. video from the scene shows ambulances rushing out of the main entrance and fire engines rushing in. it was the army and the frontier corp. who fought back. these attacks are not rare. this part of pakistan is constantly simmering. an ongoing low level insurgency with separatists and islamist groups launching attacks in the area, but no one has yet claimed responsibility for this one. interesting numbers in hurricane matthew's destruction of haiti.

breaking news from overseas. a deadly terrorist attack in pakistan. at least 48 police trainees were killed when gunmen stormed a training center and detonated their suicide vests. no claims of responsibility yet, but attackers are believed to be islamic militants linked to al qaeda. one attacker was killed by security forces. over in france, demolition crews are set to begin tearing down a refugee camp known as the jungle. nearly 2,000 migrants were bused out of the town yesterday heading to dozens of reception centers elsewhere in the country. once there, they have to apply for asylum. france hopes to completely clear out the camp by the end of the week. iraqi leaders say the fight for mosul is progressing ahead of schedule with isis fighters under attack from three directions. the u.s. is helping with the mission providing air strikes against isis targets, but also ground support to the iraqis. abc's martha raddatz got an up-close look at those american efforts.

information about the deadly bus crash in southern california. investigators say there were no skid marks or other indications that the bus driver tried to brake before hitting the truck which was only moving at 5 miles per hour. the bus may have been going as fast as 65 miles per hour. it turns out the driver was the owner of the bus company and its only driver. he and 12 passengers died. the search in oklahoma i his aunt and uncle and shot two officers and officials warn he has some sort of disease he may try to spread. >> reporter: michael vance who live stream his get away as seen here on facebook -- >> about to steal another car, like, right now. >> reporter: according to police, is responsible for shooting at least five people, leaving two dead and two police officers wounded.
