and storms up north. i'll take you to those in just a bit. but as you're planning your day, 74 degrees, mostly clear to start now. mostly sunny and warm this afternoon, up to 91. a dryer day on tap. i'll break down that hour-by- hour planner. again, i'll show you where it is still storming now in just minutes. let's get you started here on abc 15 mornings from the live desk. this is a live look right now, breaking news, we know glendale police are on scene of a stabbing. this is near camelback and 63rd avenue. we male has life-threatening injuries. now, police say they think they know who the suspect might be. he is on the run. we hear this might be domestic violence. our crews are there right now. we have a reporter, allison rodriguez headed to that scene as we speak as well. we will check back with with this once we get more information. also breaking overnight, police investigating a deadly crash near 10th and jefferson. take a look at the video from that scene. police tell us that a guy was killed, he was in his mid-30s. he had a lot of belongings with

have been homeless. they believe he got into a fight with somebody and that person then hit him with a car and took off. as of right now, we know they are looking for an older model white car. we are gathering more information on this story as well, danielle, and whether we get it, we'll bring it to you from the live desk. >> we'll come right back to you. thank you. 4:32. today a convicted terrorist is expected to learn how much time he'll spend behind bars. that sentence unfolding inside a phoenix courtroom. abc 15's katie connor has been following this now. katie, bring us up to date on this trial. >>reporter: i'm katie connor live in phoenix where a convicted terrorist will learn his fate. we first learned first about abdul kareem when federal agents raided it last may. elton simpson had a gun and carried out a crime in texas. in march kareem was found guilty of plotting to attack the super bowl in glendale as well. kareem's case marks the very first time a suspect on trial

his connection to isis. right now prosecutors are pushing for the death penalty, but his attorneys only want six years or less. back out here live, his sentencing is set for 9:30 this morning, and, of course, we will keep you updated on what happens. back to you guys >> thanks, katie for that update. in the meantime, we told you that this next one was heading to court and this morning we know what happened. not guilty, that is the plea coming from michelle bastian who's facing terrorism charges. federal officials say she and her husband thomas were planning to set the louis state prison where he is currently serving time. both were indicted on state terrorism charges. she's scheduled to be back in court in december. right now we are working to learn the condition of a bicyclist who was hit while riding in queen creek. we know he was rushed to the hospital last night with life- threatening injuries. this happened in ellsworth and a witness told abc 15 they saw the driver of that suv you just saw there hit the bike. you see that bike las vegas on

over the road. we're told the cans belonged to the bicyclists. investigators are trying to sort all the details out this morning. outrage and so many questions right now after several horses were shot and left for dead. the sheriff's mounted possie upping the reward to $3,500 to catch this animal killer. we do want to warn you, these image are graphicment one of three salt river wild horses were shot multiple times, just a baby, his body mutilated. animal advocacy groups are now shot in the tonighto national forest. the shooter possibly wearing dark shorts and a green shirt with two other people tagging along. we now have a new picture of the woman police say was hit and killed by a drunk driver. she died over the weekend. her passenger still hanging on. this morning randall nelson is facing a negligent homicide charge and court paperwork says he ran a red light at 28th drive and cactus, hitting her car and pushing it right into a

comeback. gas thieves leaving a trail of victims in mesa along with a trail of new evidence. precision mma says its vans have been hit more than once. but look at this, this last time, they caught the crook on camera. you see him carrying over a container, takes off in just a matter of minutes. he even left the gas cap right there on the ground. the owner says it's not cheap to fill up, but more importantly, this is a safety issue for all the kids in his after-school program. >> we have a lot of kids, transporting cans, we can't have our vans break down while we're transporting kids or something like that, you know, so that can really put us in a lurch. if we don't have gas, we can't get to the kids. >> mesa police are hoping to generate new tips with these pictures as well. take a close look. this guy is siphoning gas at an apartment complex at rio salado. the owner had to call aaa for a refill. the same thing happened with a shuttle driver after 75 gallons

scary moments caught on video after someone threw a molotov cocktail right through the front window of wolfskin. that's a tatoo parlor on 17th and bell. the owner who's a widow tells abc 15 she's got a message for the coward who did this. >> my husband, it's not impacting them. if they're trying to get at one of the other artists, they've lost splice, but in reality it's affecting me and my kids and financially we're having to rebuild this out of pocket. devastating, back in august her husband was shot and killed. phoenix police can't say yet if these two cases are connected. 4:36. and breaking news back here at the abc 15 live desk, there's some breaking news coming out of back east in new jersey. investigators are on the scene of a deadly fire. right now want to take a look at twitter, if we can. you see this is from abc 7ny, that's the twitter handle there, tweeting out, they're reporting a number of people have been killed. there's the picture full on your screen. it happened at a two-story

you see some of the damage, the charred units there. four apartments destroyed. officials are trying to figure out right now what caused that fire and there's still a person unaccounted for at this hour, danielle. >> okay. exactly two weeks to ago until the ballots are counted. democracy 2016 showing no signs of slowing down. hillary clinton and donald trump both hitting as many states as they can to try and pull in those votes. trump is in florida lashing out, arguing the latest polls that put clinton ahead of him by double digits are, quote, media. in the meantime in new hampshire, clinton accused trump of having no concrete plan to defeat isis. >> he's basically declaring defeat before the battle has even started. he's proving to the world what it means to have an unqualified commander in chief. >> both of those candidates are campaigning in florida today, urging people to get out and vote.

casa grande. without a permit, consider it canceled this weekend at the casa grande domes. we're told it would have been a card holder-only event with no medical marijuana actually being sold. even though, the board of supervisors is concerned how close it is to the interstate and whether people would have designated drivers. from the abc 15 live desk, we are keeping our eye on breaking news, this out of tucson as a police officer was hurt during a shooting. it happened last night. you saw it right here on abc 15 news at 10:00. this morning we know that officer is a 12-year veteran, that he is recovering, talking, in good condition. that's great news, right? this is coming to us from tucson p.d. a suspect involved also was hurt. no word this morning on that suspect's condition, but we will be following this for any and all new information throughout the morning. this just in to the live desk. you knew it was only a matter of time in germany, can you believe this? a 16-year-old is recovering after being stabbed, and police say he dressed up as a clown, tried to scare his friend while

, the clown was. the 14-year-old boy responded by pulling out a knife and stabbing his friend. now, he was take eb to the hospital -- taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. that 14-year-old released to his parents. we do not know if there will be any charges filed in this case. danielle. this next story is tough to stomach. investigators trying to piece together a hocialt incident in new jersey. a father jumping off a bridge while holding his two children. that man died, his two kids survived that fall, but they're now being treated at the hospital. jumped or why he took his kids with him. a massive fire erupting overnight, leaving four people hurt, about two dozen firefighters near seattle rushed to put the flames out at these condos. two victims suffered smoke inhalation while two others were treated for a heart attack. investigators are on scene this morning. they're trying to figure out exactly what started all of this. quarter to 5:00 now. sure sounds like a hate crime here on school grounds. we know a black student in mississippi had a noose lassoed

pulled tight. these two boys involved were nems of the school football -- members of the school football team. the student of this attack that's been accused has been kicked off that team. there hasn't been any further discipline here, but a representative from the naacp along with the student's mother and supporters are now asking for a federal investigation. the school says they take incidents like this very seriously and they are making sure that all students have a safe place education. there were definite tears, definite tears in being able to see the look on his face when they actually took the cover off and he got to see it was amazing. >> absolutely amazing. take a look at this. an 8-year-old getting a super special costume just in time for halloween. daniel has brain and spinal cancer. he's lost his ability to walk, but an oaring nonprofit built him a one-of-a-kind costume to go right over his wheelchair.

transform daniel into darth vader, complete with everything that goes with it, complete with a tie fighter, i should say. governor doug ducey is taking steps to fight childhood obesity. today he'll be leading a ribbon- cutting ceremony at stanfield avenue where the students will receive a don't-quit fitness center. it's one of three champion schools here in our state. the governor will also name october as don't quit fitness month. it is probably one of the greatest myst world. we're talking about the bermuda triangle and the disappearance of ships and planes. well, now a show called "what on earth" points to these satellite is photos right here. they're hypothesis is that these hexagon-shaped clouds could create microbursts, high winds and waves 30 feet high, but there are some holes in this theory here. the weather pattern doesn't just happen in the bermuda triangle, and some meteorologists disagree about those microbursts. so i guess the mystery

weather back here at home. we actually had some thunderstorms to track last night across the valley. were you lucky enough to get some rain? not everybody got some, but we did see those showers and storms push through. those thick clouds moved through as well. but now we're seeing a lot more of that clearing as you look at the latest scans here with our satellite clouds and radar. those clouds clearing out to the east. the rain, though, does continue to fall in some spots, mainly across northern arizona, while the western portions of our state are seeing some of that clearing. those showers and storms mainly in the high country, a few north of i-40, and east of flagstaff, but some spotty showers in spots like flagstaff still. and that thunderstorm northeast of winslow pushing off to the east, so it is moving further away from winslow and also pushing kind of just north of i- 40. holbrook, you've had some rain, another batch heading your way from the south and showers and storms moving northeast of snowflake. meanwhile, much quieter here through central arizona. again, as we clear out those clouds. i have kept a 10% chance of

about 6:00. after that this morning, we are going to be drying out across the valley and we're going to end up with mostly clear skies for the rest of the day today. so less cloud cover. temperatures right now sitting at 74 degrees, so as you plan your morning, again, that 10% chance in the forecast just about 6:00. after that we'll clear them out, and those temperatures will stay in the low- to mid- 70s, at least at phoenix sky harbor through 8:00 here this morning, in case you had plans to get out to your patio, enjoy that cup of coffee, should be a nice morning for it. as you look at the big picture with me, those stormth with all of that moisture will gradually clear out to the east as we go through today. slight chance of storms in the high country, but we'll be drying out here in the valley. eventually high pressure returns, and what that means is that we've got some warmer days on tap in our seven-day forecast, also some dryer days too. today, though, slight chance of scattered storms up across northern arizona. meanwhile, the valley will be clearing out, mostly clear skies through the afternoon. going into tonight clear conditions, and tomorrow mostly clear across the state.

as well. by the end of the week, we do see a slight boost in moisture, rain chances returning to the high country. the valley, though, looking to stay dry for now. we'll keep you posted if that changes, a little bit more cloud cover by the end of the week, but for now, again, keeping our forecast dry. in the meantime today mostly sunny and back into the upper 80s to low 90s with temperatures still running above the average for this time of the year. but, again, low 90s, not too bad, it's just going to be above that 30-year average which is 85 degrees. so today phoenix makes it up to 91 degrees, but mentioned that warmup. it starts to kick in tomorrow, but especially on thursday. tomorrow 94, by thursday one degree shy of the record high temperature. our forecast 97 degrees. temperatures do trend down as we go into the weekend, but, still, not seeing an end to that stretch of 90s with 90s in our forecast through early next week. nick. >> irice, thanks. 10 until 5:00 right now. another look at the big map this morning, and for the most part still seeing a lot of green. a little bit of a slowdown
