speaking out after that bombshell interview with former congressman, gary condit breaking his silence about the intern's murder, and the accusations that cost him his career. the question he refuses to answer. >> dr. phil, i haven't, you know, answered that question publicly for 15 years. and i'm not going to change my position. >> now her mother is responding this morning. ? the ultimate party crashers. the bachelor blow-out weekend that took a surprising turn when an abandoned >> the next thing you know we look over and there's a dog sitting at our front door. >> the surprising discovery that led to this. ? i was dead in the water nobody wanted me ? ? uh-huh ? good morning, america. happy friday. well, that is a different kind of bachelor party. >> you can say that. >> yeah, go and celebrate your friend getting married and you basically come home married.
7:02 am
that's great, and we had a great moment yesterday as well when he kicked off our giant dog adopt-a-thon thursday and check out how this dog reacted while it was watching our broadcast. i think it's saying take that one home. yes. >> we get so many people that tweet us pictures of their dogs watching us in the morning. >> i had some trouble at home. my dogs smelled all those other dogs all over me and they were not happy about it. >> much more on that ahead. first, we want the to get to the breaking news overnight. you're looking live at vp mike pence's plane on the ground at laguardia airport ear in new york after that scary landing. we're going to hear from him. he'll talk to george. first abc's david kerley has the latest there at the laguardia for us this morning. good morning, david. >> reporter: good morning, robin. this is the end of the runway
7:03 am
ago cleaning up where this jet ended this very dangerous incident. overnight -- >> we have an emergency in the airport. >> reporter: -- the boeing 737 campaign plane of mike pence skidded right off the end of the rainy runway at new york city's laguardia airport. >> tower, the aircraft is off the runway on the right side of the arrestor bed. it looks like it's intact. >> reporter: emergency crews, rescue teams flooding the scene, seeing that the jet had hit the safety barrier, tore through it and end up on the grass next to a roadway. >> i heard a noise. i didn't know what it was, i looked up and i saw this trump/pence plane making a noise screeching and it came to a stop right here. >> reporter: none of the reporters, staff or the candidate was hurt and they exited out the back of the jet. at a late night rally in new york, donald trump telling supporters about pence's plane accident. >> the plane skidded off the runway and was pretty close to grave, grave danger, but i just spoke to mike pence and he's fine. >> reporter: governor pence giving reporters the thumbs up
7:04 am
the accident. our campaign reporter, ines de la cuetara, was on the plane and says the touchdown was not smooth. >> reporter: felt kind of a big bump upon landing and then felt the plane kind of skid off the runway. you could tell something was wrong, although it was raining so we couldn't see anything of our windows, and the governor talked to us and asked us if everybody was okay. and that's when we realized something was wrong because he told us there was mud on his windows. >> reporter: it was 7:40 p.m. with wind and rain when the aircraft approached the runway. as it neared the end of it, it ran into the emergency material called an arrestor bed. >> it's designed to slow the airplane down quickly if the airplane were going off the runway. basically lightweight crushable concrete prevented what could have been a disaster. >> reporter: while no one was hurt, it was a travel nightmare at new york's major travel hub. laguardia airport's runways shut down for nearly two hours. >> we've got one runway that is
7:05 am
we will be working with the ntsb and a private contractor to come up with a plan to remove the aircraft. >> reporter: as you can see behind me another this hour, the runway has been reopened here at laguardia. the aircraft has been moved to the side, and we saw these crews working to clean all that concrete that this jet ripped through. the ntsb is on the scene, robin. they will be investigating today, talking to the crew about what happened during that landing that ended up right here at the end of the runway. >> want to get some answers. you mentioned about the concrete ripped up behind you, the arrestor bed. many have never heard about that before, using a special material. how does it work exactly? >> reporter: that arrester bed in this case is made of concrete. so as steve ganyard mentioned it's a lightweight concrete that they can get air into. it's hard but soft so when something really heavy hits it with energy, it kind of gives way. the concrete gives way and absorbs the energy so it stops the jet from run nothing that fence. the it hadn't, it would have ended up in the roadway. >> it did its job last night. thank you. george. i am here with governor pence.
7:06 am
you look okay this morning. >> yeah, we're great. >> pretty scary few seconds inside the plane. take us inside. >> well, it was a low ceiling and we came in and it was a landing at laguardia and we just immediately felt heavy braking on the runway, and the plane fishtailed a little bit, and just for a few seconds, you could feel us bouncing off and with mud splattered up on the wi the runway, but thank god everybody was fine. >> the collapsing runway worked the way it was supposed to work in that's what i was told. i'm just grateful. really grateful for some quick action not only by the pilots but also by first responders who were literally seemed like they were on the scene at laguardia before the aircraft even came to a halt and, you know, my son is a marine corps aviator and michael always tells us every landing you walk away from is a good one.
7:07 am
thavrk r thank good niz for that. you're back on the trail today, and our tracking poll shows a four-point spread right now, but the latest numbers show a huge deficit for you and your campaign. the clinton campaign has about the trump campaign only about $16 million. is it time for mr. trump to write that check and close the gap? >> well, he'll make that decision but i'll tell you what, the strength of this campaign is not dollars and cents, it's really the american people who i think are rallying behind donald trump's message to make america great again. i mean, i see it at rallies as i campaign for donald trump. you see the enormous crowds coming out to hear him. i think it's the message, the agenda, and it's the fact that in donald trump, the american people have seen and sensed a leader who literally has the strength and the ability to change the direction of this country. >> part of the message is getting through about a rigged election. there is a poll in "usa today"
7:08 am
manipulated. do you believe that? >> what i believe is obviously, george. you have been at this a long time. there have certainly been instances throughout our lifetime and history of voter fraud. >> not that could change a national election. >> well, i don't -- i don't anticipate that's the case, but it's a good time for people, whether you're republican, democrat or independent to find a respectful way to participate in the election process. to vote and also to be a part of the polling. frankly, what a lot of people are talking about on the campaign trail i the administration that we're going to see an average of 25% increase in the premiums for obamacare. i think that has been startling and jarring for the american people. they know we can do better. we can do better than hillary clinton's plan. introduce more single payer and more government solutions, donald trump and i will repeal obamacare and we'll bring free market solutions more consumer choice and drive down the cost of health insurance without
7:09 am
that's what the american people want to see happen. >> you mentioned the release of e-mails by wikileaks. the u.s. intelligence agencies have all determined that russia is all but behind it. donald trump refuses to accept that. do you accept the conclusions of the u.s. intelligence agencies? do you have any reason to doubt them? >> i think there's certainly strong evidence to that effect. >> that russia is behind split well, the recent megahacking came from a nongovernment source. i think donald trump and i, should we have the privilege of serving, we'll follow the facts on that, and certainly, there's going to be very strong consequences if any state is involved. >> you don't accept the conclusion that russia is behind it? >> well, i think there's significant intelligence to support that, but we want to follow the facts on that, but i think beyond that issue is what's in the e-mails which is not -- has been uncontroverted, we see this in the last couple of day, in particular, what they're calling clinton incorporated, where you had major contributors to the clinton foundation that were also then encouraged to hire
7:10 am
of those name interests were lobbying the state department. i the kind of pay to play politics the american people are tired of and it's the kind of pay to play politics that will end the day donald trump becomes president. >> final stretch here. how do you turn this around? >> i don't think there's any turning around. i think we're coming out of the fourth turn wheel to wheel, i think it's hammered down, and we're going to sprin to the checkered flag. and i have got to tell you the enthusiasm we feel out ther t want change. the other side basically says if you like your status quo you can keep it. donald trump offers real change for a stronger america at home and abroad and i couldn't be more honored to be standing shoulder to shoulder with him. >> governor pence, we're glad you're okay. thanks for coming in. robin. >> thank you. all right, george. thank you. as you just saw, we have a new abc news tracking poll, the race staying close as first lady michelle obama joins hillary clinton on the trail for the first time. the two bonding over their shared experience as first ladies, and their vision for america. abc's cecilia vega has more from

good morning, cecilia. >> reporter: robin, good morning to you. there's another thing hillary clinton and michelle obama bonded over, donald trump. and with this race this close, hillary clinton is now headed on a battleground tour in the battleground states in this final push. you can see her plane ready to go right here behind me, next stop, iowa. on stage together for the first time this election, former rivals turned friends. >> among the many real prijs privileges i have had is to see the president and the first lady danprivileges i haveo see the president and the first ladvileges i have had is to see the president and the first lady dance. [ cheers and applause ] and she has handled them with pure grace. >> reporter: but on this stop -- >> michelle obama! >> reporter: -- clinton was the opening act. >> yeah. that's right. hillary doesn't play. she has more experience and exposure to the presidency than any candidate in our lifetime. yes, more than barack, more than bill. so she is absolutely ready to be commander in chief on day one, and yes, she happens to be a woman. [ cheers and applause ] >> reporter: and in a sign of just how confident the clinton campaign is feeling, politico is reporting this morning that vice president, joe biden is on a short list of possible secretary

that's right, george. more than 140 people have been arrested after police in riot gear clashed with protesters at the site of an oil pipeline in north dakota. police say the crowd was blocking roads, lighting fires and even throwing homemade explosives at the officers. the protesters say the pipeline under construction will endanger drinking water and disturb native american burial sites. a jury in oregon has acquitted rancher, ammon bundy, and six other men wildlife refugee last winter. bundy claimed it was a act of civil disobedience to protest the government's management of public land. the bundys still face charges for a standoff in 2014. in san diego the coast guard has offloaded 39,000 pounds of cocaine seized from drug smugglers off the coast of central america. coast guard officers have confiscated nearly $6 billion of the drug this year and that is a record. and a big surprise for a

offensive, you are subject to disciplinary measures. i want to go over some offensive costumes deemed offensive. first and foremost, the kim kardashian robbery costume dubbed the parisian heist victim. this has been pulled by a lot of outlets. we have the scary clown costume which is out there. not necessarily insensitive but considering we have these rash of scary clowns around the country, and then buzzfeed. by the way, be careful when you google offensive halloween costumes. i want to say that. this one is coming up too. >> yes, i'm warning you, the sexy ebola costume, inappropriate because we're talking about a deadly virus. this one, deluxe sexy goldfish costume. not sure how that's insensitive or inappropriate or offensive to anybody, but, michael, if you were thinking about going there, don't because goldfish will be offended. >> goldfish have feelings too. >> they do have a lot of feelings. >> this is the time, halloween, that people like to push the envelope a little bit. is this gaining any traction? >> you know what, we're seeing pushback around the country but particularly on campuses. the yaf, young america's foundation launched a, quote, funeral for halloween campaign pushing back against political correctness and what they're saying around the country and

however, i think the biggest story for tonight's game is that of starting pitcher josh tomlin. when you think about how critical thigame is but his story, a lot of people don't know is his father, jerry tomlin, came down with an illness in august that paralyzed him from the chest down. he just got out of the hospital. josh had to leave in august, left the team to go visit his father. he hasn't seen him since. he will be at the game tonight and i think this is going to be a very emotional night f t indians. >> just got chills. >> just got chills. >> hey, have fun, jessica. >> yes. we all will be watching that. i demand it. >> thanks. >> we thank you, jessica, paula and matt. thank you. coming up in two minutes, the bachelor party that turned into a puppy rescue. look at these guys. i got to say that is cute. turn into a puppy rescue. look at these guys. i got to say that is cute. there's a virus out there. a virus that's serious, like hiv,
