from tempe over to ahwatukee with 75 degrees. it is feeling pretty good here this morning. we will go from 75 in phoenix into the upper 70s to near 80. we will keep the clear skies in the forecast so it will be very nice if you want to head outside to enjoy your lunch. across the state those temperatures are warming nicely dropping into the 20s this morning and below freezing in flagstaff and window also warming into the upper 60s in those areas. we are checking in at 66 degrees in payson. we have clear skies and dry weather keeping these clear skies in the forecast over the next couple of days. we are also kicking up the heat because high pressure is in control. that means we have dry, stable air over the area with warm

big changes come our way for the second half of the week we start out warm ahead of a storm system sending a strong cold front our way. it will bring in dry air but it is also kicking up the winds across the state. by wednesday near 30 miles per hour in the valley and now the north they are stronger. across western arizona those winds will help usher in cooler air. it doesn't look see much rain chances as it is pretty dry. we will stay dry in the valley with more clouds by wednesday. i am not expecting any rain as of now. just a 10% chance for rain wednesday into thursday and drying out behind the system into the weekend. the biggest impact you will notice is the temperatures because we will go from the 80s and even upper 80s tomorrow down into the 70s by the end of

it has been cut off by damage from the earthquake. military helicopters and a navy ship will be used to rescue residents who are stranded in the coastal town. some new information about a sheriff's deputy ambushed and killed near sacramento. authorities said dennis wallace was investigating a report about a stolen van when he requested backup. the deputies found his body with gunshot wounds to the end. the suspect david machado took off in a stolen van. he was later caught after he tried stealing a purse. the investigation will begin today into a police officer in michigan accused of intimidating and a trump protesters with a confederate flag. witnesses captured a photo of officer michael peters drinking a beer next to his parked truck.

into the 80s as we go into this afternoon. we will be back at 80 by lunchtime with 82 by 1:00 and the high temperature of 286 degrees. that is 1 degree above yesterday 's temperature. just a tad warmer and above average with those temperatures 10 degrees above average by this afternoon. it is a little closer to average and today it is still warm temperatures into the low 80s by 6:00 this evening a little warmer then yesterday but we still should be away from the record which is 91 degrees. tomorrow we are in record temperature a -- territory. 1 degree shy of the record high temperature for tomorrow, which is 90 degrees set in 1989. tomorrow we are potentially going to tie the record or at least come close with a high of 89 degrees.

the week ahead of those big changes. high pressure is in control which means we have sunny skies and warm temperatures. we will watch the system move into the pacific northwest sending a cold front across our way ushering in that cooler air. so we will get rid of these unseasonably warm temperatures and bring in the below average high temperatures by the end of the week. 86 today and 89 by wednesday is still mid-80s with more cloud cover as well and the system moves in with temperatures thursday into friday only topping out in the low 70s. we will see more clouds in the valley with a 10% chance in the high country. the winds and the cooler air will certainly be the story by the end of the week.

from kingman 64 for a high today in flagstaff. tonight back into the 20s from window rock to flagstaff and kingman to shallow temperature overnight shopping today 60 degrees by tomorrow morning. it will be chilly again after topping out this afternoon in the mid-80s starting out the day in the upper 50s to low 60s across the valley. by tomorrow toasty as we topped out at 89 degrees. then the temperature dropped wednesday with the cooler temperatures on thursday and friday in the 40s to 50s and by the weekend starting to warm up but only in the 80s saturday and sunday. it says brother bear. do you know what that means? >> bears.
