raindrops, i was looking on twitter, we saw some raindrops yesterday. could we see that again today? >> ale little bit of scattered drizzle. >> yes. >> but we could see heavier rain later on today. the good news is, for the ironman, it doesn't look like it will interfere with that. take a look at this. 66 degrees right now. at phoenix sky harbor. so pretty mild morning. definitely warmer than this time yesterday. and this is how the rest of that seven-day forecast, or i should say most accurate forecast is going to look for today at least. the 50s an 60s. and after that, we are going to moderate to the mid-70s, as more clouds move in. our rain chances move up to about a 20%. and then later on, that is when we could see even better rain chances, and also on monday. i will will break down the percentages for everyone, so way, you can plan your day, coming up in a few minutes. meantime allison, you said it. a lot of news to get to. happening now in tempe. hundreds people preparing to compete in the all important ironman race.

do have to expect a lot of closures and road detours because of what is going on. let's go out to tempe where mary ellen is live for us right now and what do people need to know if they're traveling today? >> reporter: well if you're in the tempe area, you will see a lot of these signs here right now, allison. streets closed. by rio solata and tempe beach park. this is a huge event. this is the iron man triathlon. and there are a lot of pa in. and a lot are filtering in right now. about 2800 will be competing in this. and it is going to include a 2.4-mile swim. 112-mile bike ride and then a complete marathon. which is 26.2 miles. all in succession. the athletes will have about 17 hours to complete the event. and ironman arizona has been here since 2005. and as i said, nearly 2800 athletes compete each year. the race this morning is going

and they have already started some of the road closures. let's take a look at the maps. so the swimming won't affect us too much because all of that will be down in tempe town lake. but that bike route, it is going to close down rio solata to mcclintock. and north, and out to mckel ips road. and eastbound to alma school to the bee line highway. the running route, a lot of road closures with this route, all the way to mcclintock. it will go up and just to, almost to the 202, and do are -- they do have some biking paths as they go down, but curry road near mill avenue and college will also be closed. if you are going to be down in this north tempe, south scottsdale area, that is where you are going to see a lot of road closures. if you're heading out of town and heading up that bee line highway, you want to drive very carefully because you will see a lot of cyclists going up that

resendez, abc 10 news. the man killed by casa grande police are speaking out with the family. 48-year-old gabriel parker was killed after a repeated order for him to drop his machete. police say parker was coming at them with a nif and they first used bean bags and a taser. police originally responded to the home for a 911 call of a man trying to hurt himself. the family says they didn't call police. and parker was shot in front of his family. to leave. they were making things worse. not to do it. not to shoot him. >> the officers involved had been identified as bryan martinez, jeremy ybarra and efren lujan. now, they have been placed on administrative duties per department policy. and vps has taken over the investigation. a plea for help. the family of a missing girl asking for somebody to come forward. so they can help solve the case behind the disappearance of brandy myers. abc 15's chris grow has more

myers. >> reporter: under the dim light of candles, the fight for brandy myers continues more than 20 years after she went missing. but for her sister kristen thailen, time is running out. >> my life has been devastated. over losing my sister. and i lost most of my family in the process. because we all imploded on ourselves. >> reporter: myers went missing back in 1992. the 13-year-old girl with blond hair and big glasses, she was last seen in the sunny slope neighborhood collecting money for a fundraiser but she never came back. >> horrible. always. probably every day i think about her. and when i grew up and had kids of my own, like it affected how i raised them. >> there was a glimmer of closure last year, police announced a possible break through in the case when they dyed 'ed alleged canal killer brian miller as a possible suspect. no physical evidence connecting

there is someone out there who can help police and she won't stop until they come forward. >> please don't sit on it until your death bed. come forward. and give us some peace. >> phoenix police suspect foul play was involved in myers' disappearance. reporting in phoenix, chris grow, abc 15. developing right now, out of tucson. police asking for help after a man was stabbed and killed at a bus stop. the victim just identified as joseph lundberg. officers say lundberg and another man were the 0 other man stabbed him. and then took off. lundberg died at the scene. officers have not released a suspect description. caught on video now, three women wanted by phoenix police for stealing someone's credit cards. and then using them to buy merchandise. this happened early last month, at a parking garage at fourth street and indian school. police say someone broke into a car and they took a 29-year-old woman's wallet. well, within 24 hours, the stolen credit cards were used at a walmart in glendale and a

if you have any information, you are urged to call silent witness, 480-witness. a lot of people are asking, how could this happen? investigators in texas trying to figure out how first responders missed a toddler in the back of a crashed suv. now, several agencies responding to the accident but somehow no one saw the 3-year- old girl in the back who was thrown to the car's floorboard. she was later found by the towing company. and she was rushed to the hospital. now, abc 15 update, in a crash that killed a valley mom and sent her two babies to the hospital. this one so sad. the 3-year-old boy hurt last weekend in chandler now out of the hospital according to the family's go fund me. pamela hasslebocker and her two kids were in the cross walk at the time when they were hit by a driver who ran a red light. pamela later died. the toddler is now out of the hospital. and good news there. audrey, the 2-year-old, still in a coma this morning.

hit them is now in custody. now, to a breaking news update. we have learned a man has died after being hit by a truck, this all happening in peoria. it happened near grand avenue and 75th avenue. police say gaven hagerty stepped into oncoming traffic or was walking in the roadway when he was hit. he later died at the hospital. the driver who hit him is okay. police don't believe impairment played a role. covering a border the border patrol is ordered to improve conditions at detention facilities in our state. the judge is saying migrants are being kept in crowded cold cells without proper vetting. the temporary order does require the border patrol's tucson mats to have clean mats and clean blankets held more than 12 hours and must be allowed to wash or clean themselves. immigrants had complained that the holding facilities in arizona are unsanitary and

45 in page. and 39 in grand canyon, at the grand canyon. and 55 in yuma and 60 this morning in gila bend. a look at the most active forecast and how the temperatures will elevate a bit throughout the morning. we will stay in the upper 50s until 8:00. i think we will get to 61. and 65 by 9:00 and then 69 degrees by 10:00. and today's highs upper 70s by many people. and warm up nicely, and enjoy it while it lasts becauses we will see ale cooldo here is a look at the abc 15 desert doppler. we can see some light scattered showers moving in. i shouldn't call them showers. just kind of drizzle, patches of drizzle, we will call them that. a lot of that probably not making it to the ground but my prediction is probably in the next 12 hours or so, desert doppler will be lighting up. that's what we expect, this first wave of rain, to move in, right around dinnertime. we will show you future cast. fast forward to about midnight. but you can see a lot of the valley already encompassed in that big chunk of rain, we will

we see even more rain, and it gets to be more widespread. especially by about midday. and after that, though, things kind of calm down a little bit. you will see we start to clear pretty nicely tomorrow evening and into tomorrow afternoon. so keep that in mind. a 24 hour thing. and we need the rain though. so we are going to enjoy. it and the breakdown of the storm chances. here in the valley, today, a 50% chance, and by monday, we are going to say 600%. so we will elevate -- 60%. so we will et vate that little bit. the high country has the biggest chance. 50% chance for today. and 80% for tomorrow. snow levels right now are at about 8,000 feet. we are predicting they could lower to about 7,000 feet. and so for the most part, this is going to be a rain event. for most places in the high country. the highest elevations, though, maybe could see some of this switching 0 over to snow. a breakdown of how many inches we expect in the west valley. a trace to a water of an inch. it looks like it is favoring the east valley here. we could see up to three

hard day without stopping. >> the burke fire in that state burning, more than 45,000 acres right now. well, this woman in custody this morning, pinal county deputies saying they tried to pull her over last night and then she took off 90 miles an hour on i-8. and deputies eventually stopping her and according to the sheriff paul bagview, and she got out of the car and took off her shirt and bra and claimed to be jesus. right now, the investigation is under into a deadly officer-involved shooting. this one happened in brooklyn. police saying a man was shot and killed, during some type of fight with police. a male and a female officer, they were called 0 out to a report of a suspicious person. the officers say when they asked for his i.d., a fight broke out and police say the man grabbed one of the officer's metal batons and hit them both in the head. the officers fired killing the man. no names have been released. a tragedy in georgia here,

river in savannah. one of the ramps on the city's river street collapsed sending people into the water. and officials say that firefighter had a medical emergency during the rescue. he passed away at the hospital. rescuers say about 30 people were hurt. including 13 who were hospitalized but they are all expected to be okay. meantime, we have new information on the deadly plane crash in nevda. investigators saying mechanical issues caused the plane to crash after takeoff. all four people on board were killed. the air ambulance plane was taking a heart patient to a utah hospital when it went down in a parking lot. it will be 0 on the -- nobody on the ground was hurt. the ntsb and the faa are both investigating. baby sophia found safe on her eighth day of life. she was found in dallas, on thursday. her father in kansas came home and found sophia's mom shot to death, and the newborn missing. dallas s.w.a.t. executed a search warrant early this morning, it taking two

is going down and do we know right now how many people are expected to attend this event? i imagine a lot. >> reporter: they are estimating about 2800 that will be attending, or at least competing. 2800 people competing in the event. the crowd will be much, much bigger than that. we have been out here since about 4:00 a.m. watching this traffic. and this is the traffic just to park. and it just is like never ending. so you can imagine, just how crowded it is going to be in downtown tempe. and now, this event is it is the iron man event. it is the triathlon. and these athletes have to go through a whole lot just to get ready for this. they will start off with a 2.4- mile swim and we are told when you put the athletes in tempe town lake in somewhat of a washer machine out there. and then a 112-mile bike ride and a full marathon 26.2 miles and 17 hours to actually complete this event. and the racers are going to start here in about 45 minutes. we will get the beginning

and the bike route. take a look at the maps here. road closures around rio solad and tempy town lake. the bike route will close down the area toward mcclintock, north to mckel ips road and eastbound up to alma school and the bee line. that is a 112-mile bike ride so if you happen to be traveling that way, you want to be careful for the cyclists. the running routes closing parts of the park opposite direction. it will be closed almost to mcclintock and then westbound, to priest. and north on priest. to the 202. and it also will be shut down between curry road, between mill avenue, and college avenue. and of course, if you're wanting to see where the road closures are, our assignment desk editor has put them on the web site at abc 15 .com. and you can avoid this area if you're not planning to come down here and cheer your favorite athlete on.

and 6:45. and lining up and getting ready. and we will pan over and we can see how many swimmers in the bullpen are waiting to hit the water. and now, this is 2.4 miles swim. we are told after this, many will be jumping either on their bikes or doing the run. the run is a 26.2, full marathon. and the bike, the biking is 112 miles. they have about 17 hours, in order to complete all of the events. and i want to take you back to where we are swimming. tempe townak far as lakes goes, it is not a huge lake but we have 3,000 swimmers that are getting ready to jump in the lake. and list ton kyle harry. he has 15 swimmers, he is a trainer out of chandler. he has 15 clients that are participating in the iron man race and this is what he had to say it felt like when he did the iron man. >> 3,000 people. in a wash machine. something like that. there is a lot of people in there. and there are a lot of bumping and they say it is a full
