good morning everybody, it is 5:00 on this saturday, i'm al son rodriguez. just ahead, he ruled the nation. the world is reacting this morning to the death of former cuban president fidel castro. >> another one injured. that story is coming up. and a bizarre scene on the freeway overnight. the officers discovering a body on the freeway and just as they pull up, a driver seen pulling away. did you catch the territorial cup last night? highlights from tucson are coming up. good morning thank you for joining us.

a beautiful saturday, but changes are coming up is that right? >> that's right. i have been running back and forth between here and the weather center. here's a look at cloud s and radar right now and you can see the clouds thickening up as we get into the overnight hours. this is a change that we are going to start to see over the next several days. 77degrees is what we are going to top out at increasing. for the most part, the winds are going to be calm throughout the day. however, as we get into the evening and into the overnight and into tomorrow, we are talking about the winds 10-20 miles per hour. the gusts up to 30 miles per hour and even stronger up north. we are talking about gusts up there over 40 miles per hour. we talked about the changes, but also getting through today. coming up in just a few minutes

the day hour by hour. a shooting happened this morning. we find maryellen resendez on the scene. this sounds like this was a very hectic scene for the officer. >> reporter: justin, we are in a neighborhood near the way del and the 303. we are told the neighbors called into the police after seeing a suspicious car neighborhood. the car didn't belong according to the witnesses. when the officer came out to investigate, he approached the car. we were told earlier that the man was scrambling around looking for something. the officer asked him to put his hands up and of course he did not come ply with the police officer. at one point, the officer is reaching in the car and that's when we are told the driver

the police are telling us that the officer was injured. he was dragged for just a short time down this neighborhood that you see right there and was rush today the hospital. the man, unfortunately we are told is dead and right now, the police are trying to find out what happened. it's still very early in the investigation. they are trying to find out what happened between the officer and the man inside the car and why the man was in this neighborhood. coming up at 5:30, we are going to have more information for you. justin? >> thank you. one person is dead following a hit and run crash near thunder burg. dps tealing us a -- telling us a car hit a pedestrian. the person was alive, but later

off. the police are telling us they may have tracked the driver in glen dale. the world is responding to the death of fidel castro. almost immediately, thousands of people started celebrating, even right here in the u.s. you can see cuban americans flooding the streets in miami all night long, too. many of them and their families forced to flee castro's regime. it's a moment we have been waiting for for more than 50 years. we are free at last. that man caused so much suffering, so much people to be sad in my country. the dictatorship in our country. now he is dead. >> well this is another look at fidel castro. this is live, actually, you can

the witnesses say they saw the couple being apprehended. they are look for the vehicle similar to the one on the scene. if you see taylor, call 411 witness. you don't have to give your name, and could win a $1000 reward. an investigation underway officer said he was forced to shoot and kill a man who would not back down. the officer tried pepper spray and a stun gun, but when the man kept attacking him, the officer shot him. this day brings up so many painful memories. a 10-year-old's body was found in a storage chest.

in their neighborhood. the officer found a man inside the car. he seemed to be scrambling around for something according to officers. they asked him to put his hands on the wheel. we are told he did not come ply by the first officer. however or another, an altercation occurred. the officer had his hand in the window and that's when the driver took off. the officer was injured. during the altercation. the officer was transported to a local hospital and has been released. >> reporter: now, we haven't been told how far the officer was dragged, but emit a bit of the -- quite a bit of the area is taped off. investigators are now here

we are starting to see snow overnight up to the north. we are getting the slight chance for the rain showers, but it looks like pesa is going to get a little bit of a soaker with the rain. it continues to snow up to the north of us. as we get into the afternoon, the snow starts to spread and by tomorrow, we start to see the rain chances increase throughout the day. later on into monday morning, we will keep some slight rain chances. as the clouds move on out, we talked about the clearing after that. look at the snow levels, 2-5- inches at 2000-5000 feet. more in the elevations from 6800 to 8000 feet and the snow levels are going to continue to drop getting into today and monday into the next couple of days. that's why we have to watch out

the officer is going to be okay all though he was injured in the altercation with the suspect. now, accord tog the police, this all started when the neighbors called in about a vehicle in their neighborhood. >> it was a vehicle that didn't belong in the neighborhood. neighbors didn't recognize it. they called us in and from there, everything just unfolded very quickly. >> reporter: now, accord ting the police, their officer showed investigating. he approached the vehicle. we are told the driver scramble ed for something inside the vehicle and the officer asked him to show his happeneds. we are told -- his handings. that's when something happened. we are told the suspect took off dragging the officer for some distance. that's when the officer fired his weapon and the driver of the car is dead.

wednesday. deputies saying she was a passenger. the driver who was 12 is okay. they say she hit a ditch and flipped. diseant on the i-25 -- an accident on the i-25, the authorities saying the accident was preventable. well, it's hardly ever easy, officers making a second decision to keep the public safe. the officer says he was forced to shoot because the suspect wouldn't back down. we are told the officer tried using pepper spray and a stun gun, but when the suspect continued attacking him, he had to take action.
