for some time, now. >> it was a vehicle that didn't belong in the neighborhood. neighbors didn't recognize it. they called us in and from there, everything unfolded quickly. >> >> reporter: neighbors say they have seen the vehicle in the neighborhood and have called on it. a police officer from surprise came to check it out. he approached the driver on the side of the vehicle. the driver wa around. according to the police, the officer asked him to reveal his hands. he did not comply with the officer's commands and at one point tried taking off with the officer's arm still in the car. we are told the officer was dragged down the road. the officer was rushed to the hospital. he is suffering from some injuries and we are told he is going to be okay.

driver, we are told, is dead. >> breaking overnight, one person dead after a hit and run crash on the 101. you are looking at video -- d-p- s telling us overnight a car hit a pedestrian in the southbound lanes, troopers saw that person lying in the road. that person was alive, but later died. the driver took off. we are learning that the trooper caught the driver and is questioning >> no doubt have you seen his fame trending on social media accounts, the world reacting to the death of former cuban president fidel castro. the 90-year-old revolutionary leader passed away. immediately, thousands started to celebrate, even here in the u.s cuban-americans flooding the streets of miami all night

painful memories, a 10-year- old's body found in a storage chest after having been there for hours. samantha allen, the cousin, will not be in court until may. >> and her husband, august. they have boat pled not guilty. >> if you have not heard about the situation in standing rock, you will hear alot about it. a professor just ret there after joining in on the demonstrations. he teaches at n-a-u he wanted to pitch in in some way because he believes it is a cause worth fighting for. thousands have gathered at standing rock, trying to stop construction of a massive oil pipeline. the reason they are concerned about it because they believe it will destroy the sioux's tribal land and contaminate the drinking water there.

involved shooting. this all happened at surprise near 175th avenue. mary ellen has been out there all morning. what is the latest on this investigation, here? >> reporter: well, surprise police want to do a careful investigation here, especially since one of their officers was involved. we are told it happened down this street, according to neighbors, it started with a suspicious vehicle. the officer came out and confronted that driver and police say sometime during the confrontation, he that driver to actually put his hands on the wheel or put his hands up. sometimes with a command like that, drivers comply. at one point, the driver took off. the officer as arm stuck in that vehicle as the driver takes off. he wu are told he was dragged down the block before he was able to fire his weapon, killing that driver. >> we have a community facebook page, when someone calls the police department, they will post on there.

conartists are targeting young job hunters online. after being hired as a personal assistant on craigs list. she was sent a check to buy all of the office equipment she needed and asked to complete her first task >> he told me he had an emergency and he needed me to go to wal-mart and do a money transfer for $900 and i did. >> reporter? reality, the check she received was a fraud and she sent money from her own account. crooks often use the names of real people for their fake businesses so they check out online.

meet an employer, in person, not online. and you usually receive a check after two weeks of work don't fall for it, that's the warning this morning from the chandler family kicked out of their own home hours after moving in. the family moving twe than 24 hours after finding out the home they rented wasn't even really for rent. they found the listing on craigs list, but officers informed them this was a scam and they could get arrested if they didn't leave. >> if we could staying to, even if we were homeless, it would be fine. >> friends and family helped to get the family out, chandler fire department taking action after they heard what happened. but, the family is out $2,000.

the most accurate forecast on this saturday, here, a live look outside of our queen creek valley camera i wanted to show it because we are under so much cloud coverage, i thought it was cool to see. looking at the current valley temperatures, 61 in gilbert. 75 in tempe. 57 in glendale as well as good year this morning with wind speeds less than 10-miles an hour across the valley. ex see stronger winds there. let's go across the state, stronger, wind speeds, kingman, up to the east in stafford and our friends in tucson, current temperatures, chillier than what you would expect. 34 if the grand canyon. so, today, here in the phoenix area, 77 degrees. this is above average. we are going to see the

mostly cloudy day for us and light winds at least until we get into the overnight hours when the breezes will start to kick up. clouds and breezes coming our way, today, the cold front and the system we are tracking comes into play tomorrow. you start to see the rain chances go up. best chances sunday mao monday. that's what we are looking at. make sure you have the umbrella handy, at least in your car if you are driving around the valley in the next couple of days. here's a look at we go in and track the system. you start to see it creep in from the west. by tonight, we start to see some rain chances to our north even though we kick up our chances a little bit to 10% overnight. tomorrow, the precipitation up north, that turns into snow over night and it continues to snow there. look at that, tomorrow, throughout the day, we'll be under cloud coverage but,

night into monday morning. but they will continue with snow. up to the north before the system finally starts to move out of here and we'll see pretty clear conditions as we get into tuesday. meantime, we talked about the snow and what we will be seeing, snow levels continue to drop, today, tomorrow, monday, where we are down to 4500 feet, meantime, elevations from 5,000, 6,000 feet, we could see two to five inches of snow. for the elevations 6500 to 8,000 feet. putting us at a winter weather advisory, covering everything you see in purple kingman, even into the white mountains here. we know alot of people that will be traveling through here. maybe you left for the holiday weekend. keep it in mind as you hit the road and travel throughout the state. that could give you some problems, you might want to give yourself extra time there. across the state. we'll get through and enjoy for
