that's ahead in "the skinny" on this tuesday, november 29th. from abc news, this is "world news now." and we begin with breaking news from tennessee. the raging wildfire tearing through a popular resort town. >> it is a serious situation that is happening right now. dozens of buildings in downtown gatlinburg are on fire and there are mandatory evacuations there and in surrounding communities. and a chef inside the park vista hotel was live on facebook with this incredible video as flames surrounded the hotel. firefighters told op hotel that it was too dangerous to leave. >> yeah. they were just on the ground so they could inhale some fresh air. so much smoke. just a few miles in from there, the wildfire is on the edge of the dolly amusement park. guests there had have been evacuated. moments ago, we spoke with a park's spokesman, pete owens. pete, what can you tells about the conditions there? this is a big fire, right? >> well, it is a very large fire.

wildfires that we've seen in the area in a number of years. >> pete, i know you mentioned before that this week, the week after thanksgiving is usually a a fairly quiet week for you, but you have people there. i can imagine this is fairly fightening for those people who are there. >> well, out of an abundance of caution, we relocated 19 families that were staying with us in our cabin properties and then relocated about 50 of our guest room guests here at dollywood's dream world resort. >> kind of give us a picture of what's going on. i know the wind gusts have been severe at 74 miles per hour in some locations, and then you got a snake of traffic just trying to get out. what are conditions like? >> caller: well, right now, we're in between rain showers, but we are expecting some heavy rain later on this morning after about 2:00 a.m. the winds are still fairly strong, and it still is blowing some things around, and,

firefighters and the staff that we have that's working for dollywood on their toes, and there have been a lot of people that have been affected. the city of gatlinburg was evacuated in its entirety and certain areas of the county have also been evacuated. >> yeah. tennessee emergency management saying some 30 structures destroyed including a 16-story hotel. i know it's not in your particular area, but what do you know about that situation? >> a lot of these structures are things that folks that visit here and folks that live here and i think the daylight can is going to bring a harsh reality to some folks when they see really what the damage is in the light of day. >> sobering picture of what a lot of people have fond memories of during vacations. thank you so much, pete, for joining us. >> my pleasure. >> and we should mention that dolly parton who owns, of course, dollywood was not at the theme park.

and we're also following break i breaking news from south america where there's been a plane crash in colombia. the charter plane was carrying members of the a brazilian soccer team when it went down on the way to the airport. >> what a tragedy. there are reports that survivors have been found, though, including a player on the team. the team posted a video to facebook before leaving. they've been scheduled to play a match tomorrow. right now, the league's president is en route to med can eine. >> 81 people on board the plane that took off from bolivia and made an emergency call to report some electrical problems then it was not heard from again. we'll continue to stay on top of this breaking news. the other main story that we're following, the investigation into that attack at ohio state university. classes are resuming there this morning. >> yeah. right after that huge victory. >> against michigan. >> yes. that big game. yesterday an 18-year-old attacker plowed his car into a group of pedestrians. then he got out and began stabbing people with a butcher knife. 11 people were taken to hospitals for treatment.

was born in somalia and was a permanent u.s. resident. investigators are looking into every aspect of his life. >> one ohio state police officer saw the entire incident play out and opened fire killing the artan. >> our officer was on scene in less than a minute and he ended the situation in less than a minute. he engaged the suspect, and he eliminated the threat. >> really amazing. ohio state emergency officials alerted students about the situation initially saying there was an active shooter on campus. that tweet prompted students to barricade themselves inside of classrooms with tables and chairs blocking the doors. an all-clear was given nearly two hours later. >> and apparently, law enforcement officials, they say the attacker wasn't known to the fbi and his neighbors even claim that he was always polite and that he attended daily services

election commission now gearing up for a recount requested by green party candidate jill stein. stein is also challenging the vote in had pennsylvania and michigan, three battlegrounds hillary clinton lost by a combined 100,000 votes, deciding the election. >> this is an election in which there has been hacking and allegations of tampering all over the place. >> reporter: during the campaign, u.s. intelligence agencies concluded russia tried to undermine the election by hacking team clinton and the dnc. it's one of the reasons thousands of supporters urged the clinton campaign to join the recount effort. the clinton campaign says it's not uncovered any evidence of votes being tampered with and they don't expect the results to change. during the campaign, it was donald trump who often complained the fix was in. >> it's a rigged system. it's a rigged election. 1.8 million dead people are registered to vote. >> reporter: and he's still

about the recount, calling it a scam and tweeting out hillary clint clinton's own words -- >> we must accept this result and then look to the future. >> reporter: trump went on to make some astonishing claims. even though clinton's lead in the popular vote is now more than 2 million, trump now insists he won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally. he's also alleging serious voter fraud in virginia, new hampshire, and california. no evidence for any of it. elec country outraged. >> i know it's false, but it's hard to combat, you know, facebook and twitter or the president-elect. >> reporter: in california, the secretary of state called trump's allegations of voter fraud absurd, adding his reckless tweets are inappropriate and unbecoming of a president-elect. one clinton campaign lawyer vented frustrations with all this in a tweet writing, we're getting attacked for

the election but thinks there was massive voter fraud. david wright, abc news, madison. another developing story this morning. the investigation into monday's attack on the campus of ohio state university. students returned to class today. >> investigators are combing through the life of the suspect who attended the school along with those he attacked. abc's alex perez has details from ohio state's campus in columbus. >> reporter: a terrifying scene at ohio state university. the chaos starting as the campus is coming to life. it's just before 10:00 a.m. when authorities say a male suspect in a car deliberately jumps a curb and plows into pedestrians. >> we have a vehicle that struck several pedestrians. >> reporter: the driver exits the car carrying a butcher knife and starts slashing people near the engineering building watts hall. >> we've got a man with a knife running around cutting people. >> it looked like he was trying

>> reporter: a campus officer confronting him. >> and he was yelling and the guy didn't stop. he charged the cop and the cop was forced to shoot him. >> reporter: one minute after the attack begins, the cop fired the fatal shot that took down the suspect, seen here on the ground surrounded by officers. authorities identifying the suspect as a student at osu, abdomen duck azak ali razakn. the school newspaper said this is his photo. >> everybody was running in any direction they possibly could, and i ran into a bathroom. luckily, it was just a single stall and was able to lock myself in there. >> reporter: campus now on edge as authorities start hunting for a possible second suspect. the university tweeting, run, hide, fight. watts hall. sending text alerts to the community. >> you know we're starting to get a text that there was a shooter on campus. so they locked the building down, had us all go up to the third floor. >> reporter: some students

against doors as ambulances and fire trucks race in to treat the wounded. >> i need a medic as soon as possible. severe bleeding out of some of them. >> reporter: 11 patients rushed to the hospital with injuries of stab wounds and from being hit with the car. one in critical condition. >> police cars, the most seen in my entire life. >> reporter: fbi agents arrive with tactical units as well as s.w.a.t. team and a bomb squad. .this terrifying warning, law not call students who may be on campus because their loved ones could be in hiding. a ringing phone could give them away. then in late morning, the all-clear. >> try to keep everybody calm, they did a good job. i love my students. >> reporter: as authorities continue to investigate the crime scene, they now believe the sole perpetrator at the scene was artan, the student behind the wheel of this car and are praising that campus officer, now identified as
