whopping cough could be proi hibted going to school for three weeks if thers an outbreak. last year classrooms where 40% of students were not vaccinated. the school district will send out letters to parents encouraging them to get children immunid. whopping cough starts out like a common cold. it's highly contagious, a highly contagious respiratory tract infection. >> a san francisco nightclub where a man was fatally shot last month intends to defy today's conviction deadline. a man was killed on pier 50. it was the second deadly shooting there in two years. the port of san francisco said it would terminate because the lease is effective today because of violence, noise and contract violations. attorneys for jelly sa it plans to fight that eviction in court. >> in oakland a group of residents are holding a fund-raiser tonight for the family of a recent murder victim.

45-year-old jean kang was shot and killed last month. he was in theay area interest viing for a job at google. the robbers got away with just $17. two people have been arrested in the case. the fund-raiser takes place tonight from 6:00 to 8 p.m. at the oakland asian cultural center >> the parents of a man killed in las february's small plane crash in east palo alto have filed a lawsuit claiming the pilot s negligent for taking off in heavy fog. three men, including the pilot, were killed in the crash. all worked for tessler motors. the plan struck power linings and a tower before slamming into an east palo alto neighborhood. the pilot knew of the chevy fog at the airport and surrounding area and was not cleared to take ooh by air traffic controllers. >> appears cifornia republicans have deni democrats a chance to get more power in the state legislature. republican blakesly won are the central valley state senate seat in yesterday's special electi receiving more than 49% of the

we're lening today just how widespread the illnesses are from contaminated eggs linked to salmonella poisoning. 300 people wound up in the hospital in california and minnesota. santa clara county has the highest number of reported illnesses in the entire state. the federal government says the eggs came from an iowa egg producers. millions are being recalled. thera garcia joins us with more. theresa. >> well, safeway and other stores selling the salmonella-tainted eggs are supposed to have pulle them from the shelves by now. we tried several times to get comments from safeway but none yet. it's up to consumers now to check and see if their eggs fall under this do not eat list. >> now i have to check the eggs. >> yeah.

salmonellan san francisco, 21 in contra costa coun and nine in san mateo county. the centers for disease prevention a control tracked down the contamination source to wright county egg in iowa. the distributor recalled their eggs packaged under three brands last friday. the most common in california california are saway and ralph brands. the recalled eggs have plant numbers printed on the package that begin with the letter p. if it follows with sell by dates between may 16th to august 13th, discard them or return the eggs to the store. now, the health department says do not eat raw eggs, cook them thoroughly which kills any possible salmonella. most people don't think of raw eggs as being in anything but cookie dough and caes salad dressing. >> for a list of symptoms associated with salmonella and a complete list of all the brands

♪ san francisco shows off an environmtally friendly new machine that kills weed without pesticides. it's called thgreen steam machine and one of the only devices of its kind in the country. it works on using steam to burst the cell walls in plants which effectively kills them. the parks departnt says the steamer will allow them to elimine the use of pesticis in children's playgrounds and reduce it in parks and other public areas. >> we had a small demo at a children's playground at civil center about three weeks ago. and near the end of the demo,
