♪ injuries and chaos in san francisco's bayview this morning. an out of control car slams into people at a bus shelter. >> five people have been hurt, severa critically, possibly four people. and some of the people at the shelter were simply seekg relief from the heat this morning. not all of them were waiting for the bus. but you can see there are many, many ambulances there getting injured people out of the way. take them to the hospital. >> and we understand that the woman who was driving the vehicle hold our don sanchez who's at the scene that she was driving s.u.v. and that

you. a new school begins in the city of richmond today with new rules. students who cut class and their parents may find themselves in court or in counseling. terry mcsweeney is live at kennedy high school with a tough new day time curfew. terry? >> yeah. there's a whole new way of dealing wi truancy here in the city of richmond. and after a couple weeks' grace period, if parents don't get on board this kept the kids in school program, they coulbe fined up to $500. for seniors, cynthia, a new year of school with a new rule. students in richmond cannot be off campus until a half hour after school ends but they could be cid and taken to a counseling center and parents notified. >> kind of unfair because, you know, some kids try their best and live farther away or the bus isn't running right. i think they shou at least give some sort of lienensy but not too much. >> her mother has no problem with the policy or the possible

critically. don sanchez is there now. >> you say five have been injured. four actually have life-threatening injuries and have bn taken to various hospitals. it happened at san bruno and arleta at bay shore. taking away victims. after that car, according to investigats, shut down and the driver virtually had no control. she slammed into a group of people waiting for a bus. it was so hot, of course, today they were in the shade of the apartment building, not in the bus shelter. the san francisco fire department tells uwhat happened as thwoman was driving down the hill. >> her vehicle lost power. she lost the ability to brake, steer the vehicle. and as the vehicle was coming down the hill it gained speed and it veered acro the street into a group of people waiting for a bus. at the bus stop. we have five injuries as a

downtown san francisco, specifically sutro tower, you can see a lot of sunshine across the marin headlands and haze is starting to form. take a look at temperatures. 70s. half moon y 73. oakland 78 and 79. everybody else in the 80s until livermore, already at 90. around the monterey bay, 84 santa cruz. monterey 86. low 90s around watsonville a gilroy. these temperatures, you bet they're running warmer than yesterday from 2 degrees in sunnyve to about 9 in napa or san francisco and oakland. highs today, they're gonna be records in a lot of areas and the poor air quality, of course. guess what comes in secon not as hot tomorrow and below average by friday. it will feel a lot like fall come this weekend. you thought last saturday was cool, wait until you get a load of this weekend. we have poor air quality possibly around the bay, especially the east bay valleys and in the santa clara valleys the rest of us should be okay. as far as the heat, it will be greatest around bait shore and

into our valleys where in the shade it's going to be the mid-90s to around 106. in the sunlight it will feel 10 to 15 degrees warmer than that. high pressure moving to the east but still got a good grip on us and that offshore flow bringing us all the heat, comessing the atmosphere. trapping all the pollution. that's why we're going to have poor air quality in a few areas. that offshore breeze tenddo that. mid to upper 90s in the south bay. every temperature a record which is san jose about 99. the peninsula, millbrae 93. mid to upper 90s for everybody else. mid-70s alon the coast, 80 daly city. 91 downtown san francisco, a record high. look at san rafael, 98. napa 100, santa rosa 101. those are record highs. upper 90s to low 100s in the north bay valleys. bodega 78. oakland 93 and hayward at 94. east bay valleys, everybody at 100 with 103 in concord being a
