at the ticket counter. this is a contintal airlines counter at passengers arrived hope to catch a flight out to newark at 11:25 this morning. the latest word on that flight is that it has been delayed a couple hours but people are hopeful many of these travels have been stuck days due to those snowstorm and airport closures back east. it is a hopeful sign because you see not as many canceltions today. little by little flights back east are takin off. they're leaving late but th are getting out of here. but it has been a long and tough couple of days here for a lot of stranded people. and some this morning are hopeful. others are still worried. >> on time, on time, on time until 15 minutes before departure when they say cancelled without any explanation and saying the next flight would be jaary 1st. >> i feel we're in a better situation since we had this flight confirmed so far in

in the low 50s around the bay. we have 40s with the cloud cover, 48 liver more, 49 santa rosa. here's how the storm system looks. first of all that's a weak band. like saturday it's going to come in, produce heavy ra by 5:00. and then overnight we'll start to see heavr rain and some really good downpours which is why we have some flash flood watches in effect nor the north bay. everything moves throug the bay area by tomorrow morning into central and sohern california where it picks up some of the heavier rain. this is what we can expect as far as rainfall totals. up to 3, maybe 4 inches of rain in the north bay with 1 to 2 inches in the east bay around the peninsula. still heavy amounts in the santa cruz mountains. all of this has prompte nation weather service flood advice, or watches for marin, napa and sonoma counties. this means that we can see flash

flooding with 2 to 4 inche of rain befe this moves through tomorrow and turns to showers. wind advisory for the entire bay area wit winds out of the southwt. 20 to 30 mph. gusts to 45. area ponding likely as a result of the storm system as it moves through this evening. winter storm warnings. we will see no level to 5,000 feet. lower by wednesd and thursday night down to 3,000 feet. strong gusty winds. 1 to 2 feet of snow. so it just continues. the winter of 2010. and this is what we're expecting, the heavy rain and gusty wis to continue through tomorrow. then we'll see very cold air foll the storm system and that will bring the snow level do in the sierra. could see a dusting of snow perhaps in some of those showers wednesday intohursday on bay area hills. new year's eve day righ now looks dry but then some showers on saturday. so it just continues and we'll keep you updated in our 5, 6 and
