♪ right now hayward and fremont police have blocked off the 29,000 block of mission boulevard in hayward as they just caught they say the third of three bank robbery suspects. >> it all began after an armed robbery at a u.s. bank in fremont 9:30 this morning. officers saw the suspect's car and chased it to this location where the car crashed. we know that three people were arrested. the third one just a moment ago. police believe that -- we're not really sure what they're doing right now except keeping a perimeter around this mosque in hayward. we're going to continue to follow these details for you at

it contained a threat of violence to be carried out today january 18th. >> that's the worst case scenario and one the people focus on the most. that's not -- that's not necessarily the nature of this threat. >> on campus you'll notice a strong police presence, especially around the social sciences building. u.c. santa cruz police also brought in extra patrols from u.c. berkeley and davis. >> i think people are like that. some people are like they prefer to stay home right now and just don't want to be anywhere near campus. >> the threat prompted some professors to reschedule classes today but the campus is still open and many students are still showing up. >> it doesn't seem like this is any different. i don't think people are taking it too seriously. >> not really thinking about it so much. >> are there concerns among students? >> i think some students are concerned. i feel most don't think anything's gonna happen. >> u.c. santa cruz says it's

unlikely anything it going to happen today, the threat is a good opportunity to remind students and staff to always be aware of their surroundings and for campus police to reinforce training practices. campus officials don't know who is behind the graffiti but believe the threat is over after today. jenelle wang, abc 7 news. >> contra costa county san francisco investigators are looking into a cemetery in lafayette. sunday night somebody broke into a mausoleum and stole a glass urn containing gonzalez, jr. he was during the dot-com boom. whoever stole that urn may have thought it was made of gold. they're offering a $10,000 reward for its return. >> san jose police are looking for the gunman in what they believe was a gang-related deadly dry-by shooting. shots were heard in the 1900 bloke of poke coway just after 11:00 yesterday. when police arrived, they found a 20-year-old man dead in the

street. investigators don't have a vehicle description yet. this is san jose's 7th homicide of the year. an oakland woman is recovering this morning after being shot in the leg. it happened around 11:00 last night as well as she was walking along international boulevard near fruitdale avenue. police say two men tried to kidnap her but failed. they're still looking for the men. >> federal investigators say they collected a lot of video that captured the tucson shooting incident that clearly shows who did the shooting. sources tell the los angeles times the best evidence comes from cameras in the safeway parking lot. reports of the video clearly shows the gunman was shooting his victims one by one beginning with congresswoman gabrielle giffords and then federal judge john roll. his husband says he is amazed by his wife peace recovery. >> she's in the icu, gone through this traumatic injury and spent ten minutes giving me

he just finished touring port facilities and amy joins us live from pier 27 with more. >> mayor ed lee was full of enthusiasm about the america's cup. he didn't tackle the topic of the businesses that might have been relocated because of it. a supervisor handled that issue. the mayor just talked about getting ready to prepare for it. the first thing he did was take a tour of pier 27. this is likely where visitors' activity will be centered. instead of olympic village, think of this as sailing village. afterwards he's ready to start preparing the area. >> the places on the waterfront, looking for that kind of relocation, too. we're going to do our best to find places for tenants. but the america's cup is demanding for a short time, is demanding a great deal of space. that is thought for the best use of our waterfront starting in 2012. >> that's the port director. kind of addressing the issue of

the 80 businesses on it list that could be forced out of their location to make room for the america's cup. he touched on the issue. you heard him defend it a little while he was on the tour but the mayor was full of enthusiasm. >> i can't but say that not only did we make the right decision, the world has made the right decision. this is just conceivably one of the most beautiful places on earth. >> the mayor also made sure to point out that the america's cup is expected to bring $1.4 billion to the economy starting now. he expects teams to start arriving and building their ships very soon. then supervisors mcrimmi took the microphone and addressed the issues on the minds of many and talked about the businesses that may have to be relocated to make room. he said the city will hold hearings to discuss who will be relocated and what can be done to help them. live in san francisco, amy holyfield, abc 7 news.

>> amy, thanks very much. on wall street today apple stock is down about 5% this morning as the ceo steve jobs announced he is taking a medical leave of absence. jobs told employees yesterday he's taking medical leave for the third time to focus on his health. he did not give a time frame for his return. that has left many worried about what happens when he finally retires. >> everyone is nervous what happens when he finally steps away and the fact he's for the third time now since 2004 having to take a medical leave of absence. got people nervous. >> jobs has previously been doinged with a rare form of pancreatic cancer and had a liver transplant in 2009. apple plans to release earnings reports this afternoon. >> students and teachers at the seed elementary school in oakland are celebrating a huge national honor today. their school is one of just two schools in california to earn the national title 1 distinguish students award. it's one of two around the

>> a new abc news washington post shows president obama's approval rate is on the rise. it's 54%. that's 8 points higher than his career low back in september. americans approve of his handling of the tucson shooting. >> debate over president obama's healthcare law begins today in the house. republicans say it is a massive job killer and they promise to repeal it now that they're in the majority. karen travis is in washington with the latest. >> it feels like deja vu all over again. the newly elected house republican majority say voters sent them a mandate.

>> we have to pull obama-care out by the roots. >> popular items have been put in place like allowing adult children to stay on parents' insurance until they turn 26. insurance coverage for those with preexisting conditions. republicans say the law is too costly and link it to america's number one concern: job creation and the economy. economists we spoke to said the law will have no material impact on employment. in fact, if it helps to slow the bill of healthcare costs it could free up money to hire new employees. democrats see this debate as a golden opportunity. they want to sell the law to a still skeptical american public. the repeal is expected to pass the house. with democrats controlling the senate and the white house, the healthcare bill is in no danger of going away entirely. >> house republicans prepare to vote on repealing healthcare reform, the obama administration is releasing a new study to show
