news conferences about accused serial killer are taking place in california and nevada at this hour. >> joseph naso was accused of killing four northern california women between 1977 and 1994. two of the victims are from the bay area. terry mcsweeney joins us from marin county district attorney's office. >> marin county d.a. is briefing reporters on this case. a short time ago he briefed me on the case that led to the arrest of now accused serial killer 77-year-old joseph naso.

he is being held on marin county jail with no bail but he says he will seek the death penalty. he says the killing simply begin in 1977, described at that time as 18-year-old oakland witness who was kidnapped and taken to sincerely to be a sex is live but was then murdered -- salinas. reports said state lab technicians in sacramento were called in to help. he erased fingerprints from cart and there was no arrest. victim number would two the body was found in contra costa one year later in 1978. victims three and four, pamela parsons in 1993 and another one in 1994. the d.a. said he would release no information on the victims because it might jeopardize the investigation. the cold case heated up last year when naso was convicted of grand theft had a probation

first hearing is on a new bill that would ban californians from openly carrying unloaded guns. the measure passed both houses of the state legislature last year but never made it to governor's desk. currently law abiding citizens can carry an unconcealed and loaded gun in most buildings but it would prevent that for everyone except for law enforcement and hunters. >> jurors are deliberating now in the barry bonds case. they are trying to reach a verdict on four charges. they include three counts of lying to a grand jury in 2003 and one count of obstruction. prosecutors claim bonds lied when he denied knowingly taking steroids and human growth hormones. >> san francisco police are standing by around demonstrators who have taken over an abandoned building in san francisco. police surrounded the building where the protestors are lodged. homes not jails have been in the
