san jose police and animal control are patrolling the park and neighborhood right now. they have made contact with some pit bulls and some of their owners but so far the descriptions do not match. >> the only dogs we saw were more scared of us they were we were of them. neighbors say overall they feel very safe here but dog attacks are not unheard of. >> this is probably fifth attack i've heard of or seen pit bulls, not the same two but in the neighborhood. i have a small too long and there are times i had to throw n him in trash can to protect him. >> reporter: don dawn wilson was out with her husky and two pit bulls came on. the husky's injuries were so severe she had to be put down,

will piston needed to be stitched up at the hospital. >> they didn't seem to be interested me as a person. they were after the dogs. >> right how we're going to patrol the area looking for any possible suspect dogs. >> anna escaped a pit bull attack a couple months ago? >> i slowly walked to one of houses because i knew i was in trouble. i knocked on the door and nobody was home. they had me cornered in the park. they were just standing there ready to attack me. >> this is the third attack in recent months. this one was attacked last december. most everyone we spoke to include the victim of the latest attack doesn't think the pit bull breed is to blame. >> i don't think the owners are not treating them right. my daughter owns three pit bulls and they are like baby kids.

>> san jose animal control this incident which happened around midnight yesterday might be a horrible accident and pit bulls could have escaped through the backyard and the owners may not be aware of it. dogs are usually not on the loose wandering around in the middle of the night. >> cheryl: in oakland this morning, police are investigating a fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man. it is the city's 33rd homicide of year. officers received a call this morning reporting a man down at the intersection of international boulevard. the victim was shot several times. his name has not been released. police are trying to determine whether the man was shot at the scene or left there after being shot somewhere else. not far from that shooting, restaurant owners and merchants in oakland fruitvale district will shut down their stories from 12:00 to 1:00 this afternoon to to honor the memory of jesus campos.

he was gunned down a week ago today. police believe he was shot by two people during a botched robbery attempt. more than a thousand people including the mayor turned out for his funeral on wednesday. people that knew him have raised most of the $30,000 reward offered to find his killers. >> encouraging news on the giants fan who was severely beaten. his sister says he is showing some signs of improvement. they have removed the ventilator and reduced his at the dig is days in hopes he could be waking up in the next but to few days. he works as a paramedic. a $150,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. >> cheryl: a man is in custody this morning after being found on a stolen boat. cabin cruiser washed up on ocean beach around 5:30 this morning. owner reported it stolen three

dozen people were injured. the storm destroyed several schools knocked down trees and blew bricks off of the buildings. i tore through arkansas. this tree was completely uprooted and took part of a house away. the red cross wants to improve disaster readiness throughout the bay area and across california so it launched a new initiative that will work with more than 50 communities for several years. eric thomas joins us with the story in san francisco. >> they are explaining that at a news conference. you can tell how big a deal this is by the size of that tent across the street. red cross put that up to encompass this news conference. they are talking about read did i neighborhood program. it will target 50 neighborhoods that are most at risk. some of those areas they'll put

running 3-9 degrees warmer than they were 24 hours ago. upper 50s santa rosa and redwood city half moon bay but low to mid-60s for everybody else. santa cruz 58 and monterey low to mid-60s. warmer afternoons today and tomorrow and sunday and stray shower is possible in the north bay. nothing to change plans over. a chance of showers sunday and into monday. as far as today it's warmer. oakland 3 degrees warmer. santa rosa 5. the sun will set at 7:44 and we'll get about 13 hours, ten minutes of sunshine. start in the east bay where some of the warmer temperatures are in the valleys. upper 50s to low 70s. not quite as warm but still mild along the east bay shore with mid to upper 50s for you. some of the warmer weather in the south bay, to low 70s. san jose right at 70. drop down to the mid to upper 60s on the peninsula.

as we talked about all weaning, warming trend is not going to make it to the coast. you'll be in the mid to upper 50s. >> and mid to upper 50s in the north bay valleys. and low to mid-60s around carmel >> if you are going to game tonight, not as cold, partly cloudy, first pitch, temperature will about 60 and dropping down to 55 degrees. we'll keep the mild temperatures mid to upper who's into south bay and rest of us in the low to mid-50s. here is what is happening. warm front, leading edge, lifting mechanism you can see the showers that is developing. that is going to skirt the north bay with a chance of rain today. as the cold front comes in behind it another chance tomorrow. here we are in the afternoon into the evening hours, everybody looks fairly dry. some of the sprinkles develop.

medical center and while he was recuperating our staff got to know him very well and he a love dog. he sure loves to play and in celebration of chihuahuas we are launching a month long recognition of the breed. we're going to start it on off with a celebration called the whole enchilada and there is going to be a costume contest and vet on side site. it's open to dogs of all breeds. we are hoping people will come out and celebrate their dog and the chihuahua breed and. >> if you need more information on that, call them. learn more. >> thank you.
