see if any adjustments need to be made. the san jose city council received an update on negotiations in an effort to avoid laying off some 600 city workers. we're told there has been no progress. they are ready to send out notices that they could lose their jobs by the end of june. contract negotiations involve ever. last year they cut 713 positions and laid off 215 employees because of a record $118 million deficit. the city wants them to take a 10% pay cut and agree to reduce benefits to balance the next budget. >> there are hundreds of jobs available right now if you know where to look. that is at the big job fair that is getting underway in emeryville. cecilia vega joins us. potential employees to dress to impressed to?

football fans are waiting to see when the national football league is going to get back to the business of football in the wake of a 45-day walkout after a judge's decision. the judge made the ruling yesterday but some tried to return to work today but not here in the bay area. janelle is at the training camp. >> that is because things are still in limbo. they lifted the lockout order, the n.f.l. appealed that decision and both sides are waiting for another court ruling which is expected to come down sometime tomorrow. official training camp doesn't start until august but players can take part in organized team activities and work out at their team facility. in other cities around the country, some players did show up at the team's facilities including here in pittsburgh, new hampshire and.
