police officer thought he was reaching for his taser and actually reached for his handgun and shot a passenger. a report recommending a shooting more tasers, not fewer. >> they will consider spending $140,000 for 130 tasers enough to outfit everyone on a permanent basis. currently they are shared. >> it's not a bad practice and police departments do it. the practice is to have a taser in hollister that is unique to every officer. >> this stems from the shooting of oscar grant by johannes mehserle mehserle was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and he testified he thought he was pulling his taser when he pulled his handgun. they say tasers should be mandatory so they can become familiar with them.

field. police and volunteers continue to look for any other signs of the missing girl. she is described as 5'8" with blonde air and was wearing blue jeans. more than 7,000 people are looking for allison. the family of giants fan will sue the los angeles team for wrongful death. the family has hired a los angeles attorney plans to file the lawsuit today. they claim the dodgers inappropriately stow to the criminal acts of third parties and failed to respond in a timely manner after the beating. he suffered severe injuries when he was beaten by two men. one suspect is in custody but they're looking for a second suspect and the woman that was with them. >> hundreds of bay area jobs will be up for grabs in less than an hour from now.

students will get a jump on the next school year. they gathered to stuff bags full of summer reading material and project will hand out 1200 bags to students. it's part of the east bay community reading foundation. >> children, by the first grade, have a chance of increased dropping out and not succeeded. >> it's funded by a grant from the family foundation. in addition to handing out books they have workshops and encourage families to read out loud. those routines with kids. >> and remember a lot of the local libraries where they have reading programs. so it's a good deal.

breezy this afternoon but nothing like we've seen and most of the breezes will be along the coast. rain will be heaviest in the north bay, cool and breezy and looks dry for the holiday weekend. our temperatures today compared to average, one degree cooler in napa. san francisco 3, but livermore and redwood city, 7 to 8 degrees cooler than average. low to mid-70s. brentwood, 75 degrees. mid to upper 50s through the east bay shore. 69 in milpitas. mid to upper 60s on the peninsula. mid to upper 50s along the coast. mid to upper 50s at your beaches and low to mid-60s in the valleys but ten degrees warmer in santa cruz. 75 in gilroy. around state, we'll have mid to upper 70s throughout the central valley. about 55 in tahoe and in l.a.
