a rare june storm pours on the bay area this morning. it brought out the umbrellas and sent windshield wipers flashing. this is what it looked like in oakland about an hour ago. take a look at this. a hailstorm in napa. there will be showers and the possibility of hail and thunderstorms all day long. meteorologist mike nicco has more now in the weather center. >> thank you very much. strongest storm is moving away from the bay area heading up

interstate 80 toward dixon over the last hour or so it dropped about 20-25 lightning strikes. you can see them dance across i-80 as the storm moved to the northeast. one lone shower and some other weaker showers moving to the east bay valleys, east bay hills and down in the east bay shore. some of them moving into the diablo range and scattered showers around the santa cruz mountains. this is the first line. we'll have another line moving from early afternoon to possibly early evening. that storm could have lightning, thunder and small hail witness. we're not out of the woods even though the impressive line is weakening right now. we have more rain in the forecast even for the weekend. >> it's definitely strange. this is the picture we were trying to tell you about. a hailstorm in napa. we know there is going to be

showers and the possibility of hail and thunderstorms all day. if you have weather video or photos you would like to share we would love to see them. upload them to ureport or e-mail them to ureport. >> police in san jose are getting out of their cars and walking the streets today to warn residents of a high risk sex offender. 61-year-old wayne page was paroled in february for rape and is now living in a west san jose neighborhood. terry mcsweeney joins us live from the area where police are handing out flyers today. >> reporter: more than 40 police officers are handing out those flyers in this area. they are letting people know they can't do anything more than legally hand out these flyers. take a look at the officers

going door to door letting people know mr. page how he kidnapped people at gunpoint and sexually assaulted as the female. he was committed as a sex offender but his sentence is no longer on probably as of february this year. he has the same rights as everyone else. police are doing what they can do, that is warning the public. >> i think one the main goals is to let the community know this person is around. it's also important that mr. page know that we're all aware he is around. >> neighbors we spoke with say they are glad to be informed. the flyer includes a picture of him and license plate on his vehicle. they don't want people to be alarmed but aware especially children of three schools within

walking distance. the search is intensifying for nursing student michelle le. hayward police are more concerned. his cellphone is silent and no sign of her. 26 le has been missing for six days after taking a break at kaiser medical center on friday night. amy hollyfield is live in hayward with the latest. good morning. good morning. police tell me they aren't ready yet to say a crime has been committed, but they admit it's not looking good as more time goes by. police department did meet with her family last night. michelle le's father has arrived from vietnam. the family is still hopeful but is also growing month more and more concerned. she disappeared on friday. she left kaiser hospital in hayward to get something out of her car and she hasn't been seen since. they have interviewed a woman

that michelle had a falling out with and today they gave us this update. >> we've served several search warrants and we probably have talked to between 15-20 people with. interviews are continuing. we did, in fact, but one person into the police department. we interviewed that person and ultimaly relead tm. again, police are still calling this a missing persons case but sources say they are very concerned as each day passes. her family is working on planning a vigil. i asked the officer if the tone of that village sill going to be a somber one or going to be one full of hope. they say it's hard to say how the family will feel like in two days but it was mixture of both. they want to be hopeful but they it was very somber meeting last night. >> police are still searching for the person who stole a car

yesterday with a newborn baby girl mountain back seat. one mo girl was found safe three and a half hours later. in the abandoned vicinity near salinas. they issued a statewide amber alert after someone stole the car in morgan hill. the mother said she left the infant alone in her car seat with the keys still in the ignition. >> investigators will try to identify them through dna. whoever stole cart had no idea a baby was in the back seat. >> in vallejo police are looking for two men that stole a car at gunpoint with a two-year-old girl inside.

investigators say one of suspects forced the father out of the car and the other drove cart away. half an hour later they received a call from a resident who reported a 2-year-old girl knocking on his door. police believe the girl who was not injured let himself out of the car seat and she is now back home with her family. the carjacking suspect is described as having shorter length dreadlocks with gold tips. >> and the chp is looking for the driver of a white acura that left the scene of a hit-and-run crash that involved several vehicles including a big rig. it shut down all northbound lanes on i-880 for six hours. it forced the big rig into a guardrail shortly after midnight. that truck crashed and spilled 200 gallons of diesel fuel. officials say another car came by and picked up the suspect beforere officers arrived.

the only suspect arrested in connection with the brutal beating of giants fan bryan stor crime in las vegas. a las vegas tv station that ramirez is the suspect in an attempted murder investigation in henderson. shooting happened two months before the beating at dodge dodgers stadium. he is expected to take a lie detector case. he claims he was baby-sitting his ten-year-old daughter when stow was beaten. stow remains in critical condition at san francisco general hospital. right now, san francisco mayor ed lee is presenting his balanced budget plan to the board of supervisors. spending plan beginning july 1st is expected to close the deficit without major layoffs. mayor lee is still negotiating to defer upcoming pay raises to

moving on to the east. live doppler 7-hd shows how the sunol grade getting heavier of the rain right now. another batch of showers moving into marin county and heading down to san francisco and down to half moon bay. it should be raining in about an hour from north to south. >> past few hours, bringing us hail in napa and lightning around vacaville and fairfield. 20-30 lightning strikes. those are weakening but you can see the twisting in the atmosphere. that is going to continue the threat of showers and thunderstorms. temperatures pretty much in the low to mid-50s in the north bay valleys with mid to upper 50s foe rest of us. about 50 in mountain view and antioch. showers, thunder, hail are possible today. tomorrow may not be as dry as originally thought. tuesday, looking for sure dry

day but rain is looking likely this weekend. start in the east bay valleys, temperatures in the mid-60s. bad story, temperatures about 8-15 degrees cooler than average. low to mid-60s on the east bay shore. even as you head down into the south bay and rounding the bend up in the peninsula, mid-50s along the coast with upper 50s around downtown and san francisco and sausalito. north bay, low to mid-50s around your neighborhood and monterey bay, upper 50s. watch out for showers for today's game, 57 degrees possibly warming to 61. tonight it does quiet quite a bit but we have a few stray showers, temperatures in the 40s. the low spins toward us, it is an area of cold, moist unstable air. you can see how we'll have another line of showers move through.

should exit around 5:00. as we head towards tomorrow commute, even a stray shower and thursday afternoon through most of friday should be dry. friday night into saturday, that is when the heavier record setting rain moves in. the rain is going to hang around for several hours, not like the storms today. we'll see more of these type of showers on sunday and monday and cooler than average all seven days. >> what is going on? >> it's la nina. >> starting today, all three cable lines will be shut down for maintenance work. california line has been out of service since january for repairs. powell mason and powell hyde lines will be shut down until sunday. it's the first time that all three lines have been closed to the public in 27 years. shuttle buses will be running as a replacement. >> another twist in the scandal
