32-year-old woman was killed by a potential. an autopsy will be performed on her. >> she had major trauma to upper body and arms but up to this point we don't know the cause of debt. it could have been a heart attack or losses of blood. >> a test will be made on dog to see if it rabies. the husband fond her about noon yesterday. police arrived and shot and killed the dog when it escaped the backyard. it's the first dog mauling death they remember in the past 25 years but it could require a law requiring pit bulls to be nuirt nerd san francisco. >> it's something that san francisco has done. people are talking about different kinds of things. it will be a matter of looking what approach has been taken and

if any of those work. >> some of the neighbors knew of dog and some new of nepora. >> i saw her the other day cleaning up the yard. it's a big shock. >> i was walking past the house, i believe it was the pit bull. i just hurried and walked by. >> did it make noise? >> it growled. >> they say at the animal behavior program there are other reasons this dog may have attacked its owner. perhaps the woman got between non-neutered pit bull and spayed pit bull and couldn't stop fighting. but maybe the couple was in double about the aggressive nature of this particular animal. again it's something we may never know. terry mcsweeney, "abc 7 news." the suspect in the shooting death of an oakland boy is due

in court today. family gathered outside the courthouse to defend him. nick smith joins us with more. >> reporter: oakland police say they have on got their man but the family profess his innocent. 26-year-old lawrence denard will face the judge today and stand up against charges that he pulled the trigger that killed 3-year-old carlos nava. >> they had an arrest warned for lawrence denard. he was taken into custody outside this home in pittsburgh. police say sheet man who shot and killed little carlos nava during monday's shooting on international avenue and 6 4th. >> lawrence denard fired a gun and murdered a young child. that is enough of lawrence of

denard on the city of oakland. >> he will never walk the streets of oakland, you done the know what is going on. you hear me. you don't have strong evidence and if you did the case would have been closed. >> the accused has a criminal history, arrest for grand theft and gun possession. during the police investigation the first tips came in just minutes after the afternoon drive-by that injured two men and killed carlos. police say one of those men provided the name of the getaway driver and that info led them to denard. >> it was a kid. >> lawrence denard has yet to hire an attorney. his family tells us they will take care of that over the weekend. he will stand before a judge in alameda county court in less

than an hour. >> we have breaking news. a portion of terminal one at oakland international airport has been evacuated because of suspicious package at security checkpoint. sky 7 is overhead and we're told for a moment no flights have been delayed. officials are not saying much more what was found but we do have a little bit of information the specific item was found in the screening machine to terminal two's checkpoint. there are no flight delays. the bomb squad is responding to this. we'll follow the story and bring are more also at abc7news.com. >> they are looked for an armed robber that hit an armored car service police were called to the armored car company. they found two security guards locked behind steel doors in the

business. the employees weren't hurt. investigators say the robbers were gone by the time officers got there. they left with an undisclosed amount of money. a $2500 reward is being offered for information leading to arrest of the suspects. >> the northern california harbor that was heavily damaged by the tsunami in march, is now getting $6 million to rebuild. crest and city hospital was damaged that came from the tsunami that hit japan. one man was killed while watching the waves. federal money will help prepare the embankment in time for the fall crab season. the announcement came from feinstein, thompson and boxer. a federal appeals court has struck down a key portion of president obama's healthcare reform package. they blocked the provision requiring all americans to pay health insurance or face penalties. its victory for 26 states that

have sued to drop the law as unconstitutional. the justice department had argued that congress has a constitutional right to outline healthcare coverage. experts say the battle will ultimately be decided by the u.s. supreme court. turning to wall street now, the rollercoaster, it continues on wall street this morning after a volatile week that saw huge swings each trading day. the dow is up again today. investors may be sharing the same confidence that u.s. consumers showed in july. retail sales increased by one-half of 1 percent, they spent more money on cars, furniture and gasoline. live look at the big board shows the upswing on the news. dow is up 176 points. the white house has denounced a position each

check out this amazing image from nasa. scientist say two galaxies in the first stages of colliding. the photograph came from an x-ray observatory in the hubble space telescope. two galaxies will become one but it takes millions of years. >> i would love to see that.

good news out of sfo, flight arrival delays are gone. few mid-level clouds, warm air with a little moisture overrides the dome of colder air, you get mid-level clouds. these will push through and lots of sunshine as we head into the afternoon hours. you can see from the satellite, low clouds moving out and high clouds coming in from the southwest. temperatures are running cool alog the coast where the low clouds are. those are keeping us in the 50s in half moon bay in san francisco. everybody else in the 60s until los gatos, 70-degree weather. still a lot of clouds around monterey bay and inland. upper 50s to low 60s, 63 in gilroy. we'll see sunshine a little quicker and slightly warmer weather this afternoon. also lm the same pattern for tomorrow but back half of the forecast into early next week, cooling trend starts to move. in for today, we're about the

same in san jose,concord, san jose and fremont all about one degree of yesterday. three degrees warmer in san francisco 87 in brentwood. we have much cooler weather along east bayshore, lot of mid to upper 60s. mid-70s upper 70s to south bay with 78 in san jose. low to mid-70s on the peninsula with a lot of sunshine. millbrae a little cooler at 69. upper 50s for most of the coast today. downtown san francisco and sausalito, mid to upper 60s. upper 70s sonoma and novato and 81 in santa rosa to 91 in ukiah. monterey, sunshine eventually and 62. mid to upper 60s for the rest of the bay and salinas. got a game, first pitch, 63 dropping down to 58, rangers are in town taking on the a's.

after an incident on jet blue flight. police detained 18-year-old man early wednesday morning. he is accused of getting drunk and then urinateding on a 12-year-old girl during the flight to portland, oregon. he faces indecent exposure and admitted to having eight drinks before boarding that flight. he violated a code of conduct. he made no comment or even an apology for the incident. >> a new study finds that knowing how a story ends doesn't spoil the experience. a researcher says giving away surprises to readers make stories better. it may allow read teors anticipate developments in the story. enjoy clues what is to become. so-called spoiler enhancement may be another form of entertainment it applies for is
