life of a father of two. it's unclear whether he tried to resist before being shot but investigators say his son was not hurt in the midday crime they are calling a completely senseless act of violence. the family members say the six-year-old saw the whole thing. >> he kept on repeating to his mom and everybody, my dad got shot right there. this is what happened, the guy pointed at him and he shot him. >> he died at the hospital a short time later. now, he leaves behind a wife and two young sons age six and ten. today, investigators are still looking for suspects in his shooting. >> this stretch has seen more than it's share of violence in the last two weeks. on august 20th a four-year-old was shot in the arm, on august 8th three-year-old carlos nava died. after the shooting of nava, many are calling for a citywide curfew for teens and aggressive

expansion of a controversial gang ordinance, but oakland mayor jean kwan opposed the tactic. she is supportive of more police in high crime areas. >> oakland crime stoppers has offered a reward of $15,000 of information leading to the arrest of suspects related to the crime. >> the latest shooting happened three miles where carlos nava was shot. he was killed when a suspected gunman lawrence denard is expected to make a court appearance this afternoon. san jose police and fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of two fires that broke out in one home within hours of each other. the same house on the 1200 block of whitney avenue was the scene

of a homicide just three days ago. third fire started outside a house around 4:30 yesterday morning. firefighters put it out within minutes. a second fire broke out in the garage hours later around 11:15 and damaging the neighboring pro property. they say a 52-year-old woman was murdered at that home on friday. detectives of searching for juan martinez and they describe it as a transient. police have arrested two suspects of a deadly attack at a popular park. they were called to hillcrest park in concord after reports of gunshots. they found a 27-year-old man severely wounded. he was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. witnesses say the victim was with a group of people when two men approached them and then attacked him and tried to steal his car and other belongings. they tracked down two suspects.

they have been booked on charges attempted carjacking and attempted robbery. >> now to the aftermath and cleanup of what was tropical storm irene. president obama says it will take time to recover from the hurricane and promised residents they will get all the help they need. >> we're going to make sure they have all the support they need as they repair the damage left by the storm. that is going to continue in the days ahead. it's going to take time to recover from a storm of this magnitude. the effects are still being felt across much of the country. >> at least 29 storm related deaths have been reported. utility crews say it will be several days before all power is restored across the eastern seaboard despite help from thousands of out of town repair crews. nearly 5 million people are still in the dark. take a look at this. this is one of at least three

police are looking for thieves that stole more than 500 yards of copper wire. somebody cut the electrical conduit from the church early saturday morning, removed the copper wire and knocked out power to the church. they cut the phone lines in several places. this is just the latest in a string of robberies. earlier this month, thieves stole all the security cameras and stripped the copper wire from air-conditioning units. >> president obama nominated a top labor economist to chair the
