seeing at the mall in daly city, a portion of the parking lot blocked off as police investigate a body found by a car. witnesses say a gun was found as well near a store entrance. police are not giving any other details. a mall employee tells abc 7 that the mall is open. the to buses routes 121 and 123 are being rerouted. we continue to follow the story and bring you more on air and online at abc7news.com, as we gett. in east palo alto police investigating two separate fatal accidents a block apart in one, a 7-year-old child was with her mother. >> other, a driver being pursued hit and killed an innocent motorcyclist. the 7-year-old was killed a block away in a separate

incident at bay road on gloria way. >> reporter: the girl was killed on a very busy street. this is a major thoroughfare in east palo alto, four lanes wide. the girl was trying to get to school, so was the driver. it turns out she is a teacher at another school. itsz1÷ happened during aféq buse of day. we saw a lot of emotion. there were plenty of witnesses, lots of people trying to get to school many we saw emotion, anger and judgment. police say it looks like it was a tragic accident. >> a neighborhood stood in shock and watched helplessly as police investigated the death of a 7-year-old girl on her way to school when she was hit after 8:00 this morning. >> i heard the impact. i heard the child get hit by the car. i seen a shoe in the street. i didn't want to see no more after that >> reporter: a priest said a

prayer over the body before the coroner's office took it away. the driver who hit the girl appeared devastated. her friends were quick to defend and comfort her. >> i came here and hugged her and let her know everything is okay. >> reporter: while standing here dealing with what happen, some around her were questioning whether she could have avoided the girl. >> they should be driving slow. if they see kids crossing the street, how can they hit a child crossing the street to go to school? of course i'm upset. now they are trying to say it is an accident? come on. >> she was driving the limit shave been coming up and down this street for years. -- i'm shocked right now. >> reporter: the case is being investigated. no indications that make us believe there was any criminal activity this happened within block from another crime scene. 5:30 this morning a car trying to get away from police hit

and killed a man on a motorcycle. while police investigated that scene they blocked off several streets in the area, creating confusion for people trying to get to work and school. resident -- residents can help but wonder if that played a role in the death of the girl. >> people trying to rush to work because the streets down the block are closed. just very upset right now. >> reporter: it is still under investigation. the police are looking into weather the closed down seats contributed to this accident. they did -- down streets contributed to to this accident. they did not arrest the driver. they think it is an accident. as for the incident with the motorcycle they did arrest three men in had suv that hit the motorcycle and kill the driver of that bike. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. an oakland community is outraged and grieving this morning after a deadly shooting outside a motorcycle club. a popular club member was killed. terry mcsweeney is live in

oakland. police just released new details? >> reporter: they did. police identifying the victim as 40 here old hassan saie. members of the say he was a member. police do not have a motive there seems to be little doubt he was targeted. friends of said gathered outside the motorcycle club to mourn. folks out here call him stuttering ike. there was outrage. >> i know the people around here loved him. when he see my children he would give tell money say hello make sure we okay. i don't know what happened. i don't understand it. >> reporter: motorcycle club membership supplied us with the picture of man they called ike the one on the right wearing orange. >> information that we have so far in the investigation tells us that our victim was seated in the garage area of the chubb house sitting around -- of the clubhouse, sitting

around with friends when the suspect approached on foot. suspect blatantly opened fire on our victim and fled on foot. >> reporter: said died at a hospital there were witnesses, police are giving no description of the suspect and are looking into eyewitness accounts the gunman wore a mask. >> ike is a person that smile all the time and laugh, he stutters, make jokes. >> on may 29th, two were shot to death and a third person wounded near the motorcycle club. police are still investigating those killings. >> he did not deserve to die here. black on black crime, it has to stop. it is sad. >> we are looking for anyone who has any information regarding the shooting to please contact the oakland police department major crimes section. >> reporter: police say there's quite a bit of violence along international boulevard near the club. but the club was not a focal point of that violence. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news.

we have some good news in crime fighting in oakland. within the last half hour the oakland police department found out it will get 10.7 million dollars in federal funding to hire new police officers. the money comes if a u.s. department of justice grant. that program provides funding directly to state and local police agencies that will focus on community oriented policing. breaking news out of santa clara. a gas leak reported on benton and los padres. first reports a construction crew ruptured a gas main. we are hearing that leak prompted evacuation of three block area around the incident. we are still checking we will keep you updated on the air and twitter. women's resource center at st. mary's college expecting to hold a rally this afternoon

to raise awareness about sexual assault. a female student told investigators two men sexually assaulted her in an on campus dorm sunday. police say the suspects have been identified as a student and his friend so far no arrests. police also investigating a rape of another female student a week earlier. 18-year-old male student has been arrested in that case. the prime suspect in the murder of michelle le is expected to miss her latest court hearing today under doctor's orders. for the giselle esteban le's body was found nearly two weeks ago. esteban is pregnant and under a doctor's orders to rest. her attorneys expected to enter a plea for her today in alameda county's super court. in roseville, firefighters managed to put out a staoub

born fire overnight that fire had pavement in the middle of the street burning for hours. pg&e and fire department said the fire was being fed by underground gas leak. it started at 6:30 last was contained just after merchandise night. one intersection was shutdown and the area -- area was evacuated. crews had to dig 50 feet on both sides to cap it. no word on what sparked the initial fire. fire officials investigating two suspicious overnight fires in antioch. investigators say both are unusual because each started in the grass outside of biddings, a few minutes apart and a pew blocks from -- of buildings a few minutes apart and a few blocks from one another. no buildings were damaged. two fences were destroyed. >> in san francisco, a 42-year-old homeless woman faces felony vandalism charges. police arrested her for

students feel here as resulted in a massive scandal in new york. police busted seven former and current students of a prestigious long island school for cheating on a college entrance exam. t.j. winick reports. >> reporter: sam was not good at the s.a.t.'s, he was great. so great authorities say, six students from a prestigious long island high school paid him to take the college entrance exam for them. >> every single school that these six students apply to, these kids were applying, competing with kids who were not cheating. >> reporter: prosecutors allege he was paid between $15 and $2500 by students at great neck north high. >> that's crazy. it is a stupid decision. >> reporter: the sophomore at atlanta's emory university now facing criminal charges and up to four years in jail allegedly presented fake id's with students names but his photo. the one female had a gender

jury jackson appeared energetic in his final two rehearsals. under cross-examination he acknowledged his company is being sued by jackson's mother for negligence supervision of dr. murray. later an attorney for the concert promoter testified that dr. murray asked for lifesaving equipment days before the pop superstar's death. today is the second day of the trial. dr. murray mass pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter. -- murray faces up to four years in prison and also of his medical license, if convicted. this morning the consumer products safety commission says two million little tykes workshop and tool sets are being recalled. the playsets have oversized plastic toy nails that might cause children to choke. the products were sold nationwide between 1990 and 2004. a long time.
