he deserves to have a perfect memorial service. officers here will tell you, it is never a pleasure, but always an honor to pay tribute to one of their own. hundreds of officers filed into vallejo today for officer jim capoot's memorial service. some driving through the night to be here. >> we left at 6:00 in the morning yesterday, 10 1/2 hour drive down here. long drive. we know what it means to the family when officers show up and pay respects and honor their fallen that's what we are here for. >> reporter: oakland police department brought 100 officers including some from the traffic department to help guide the different patrol cars. >> we know how vallejo pd feels going through this. it is a time of sorrow. >> reporter: officers from the fairfield police department and solano county sheriff's office are patrolling vallejo streets today, so vallejo officers can attend the service. san francisco police framed

one of officer capoot's uniform as a gift for vallejo. jeer all brothers and sisters. -- >> we are all brothers and sisters. >> it is overwhelming. the support we receive from our neighboring agencies, has been overwhelming. >> reporter: police officers aren't the only ones here. vallejo residents showed up to pay tribute. v everyday and risk their life and i feel like i need to be here no more than say a prayer for the family. i just had to be here. >> reporter: vallejo police say they've done their best to create a memorial service deserving of officer capoot. >> for the services that officer capoot has provided for our city, and the ultimate sacrifice he has made what we are doing pales in comparison. >> reporter: he was not only a police officer he was a marine, he was a basketball coach for

-- sean walsh was killed in afghanistan. the 21-year-old will be met at moffett field by his family. walsh's funeral will be saturday at st. andrew's in saratoga. a vigil will be held tonight for the little boy who was shot in the head while in his father's arms. a total of seven were shot in the melee that took place in a liquor store parking lot during the filming of a rap video. crimestoppers is offering up to a $35,000 reward. police have set up an anonymous tip-line. the number is: 510-28 -- -- >> powerful winds are blowing in parts of the bay area already setting up dangerous conditions, especially in the

higher elevations. terry mcsweeney joins us live from the oakland hills where they are watching the trees closely. >> reporter: in the past 20 minutes or so we begun to get a breeze in the oakland hills. mike nicco telling me that right now in the higher elevations, gusts up to 50 miles an hour and more. some of that is going to be making its way down to the elevation i'm at now later tonight. pictures from below where i am this is the rock ridge area of oakland where they have lots of eucalyptus trees, shallow roots, weak limbs over powerlines, yesterday pg&e set out crews to cut down branches. there is a history of problems from strong winds. >> on my block we have eucalyptus trees and the brand. s are soft they break -- the brand. s are soft they break easily i've seen cars crashed, i saw where a branch went through a

the first sex abuse lawsuit has how been filed against jerry sandusky. a 29-year-old claims sandusky abused him more than 100 times when he was 10 years old in a penn state locker room, bowl game and at the sandusky home. he is not among the eight mentioned in a grand jury report. sandusky is charged with sexually abusing eight boys over 15 years. he acknowledges he showered with boys but denies molesting them. for months parents have been wondering if it is safe

to give their children apple juice after dr. oz warned about arsenic. dr. besser accused him of fear gathering. >> reporter: dr. besser does not come out on the winning side of the debate. but, he's blaming the fda for withholding the most damaging results of the study on arsenic in juice. it started on the dr. oz show. >> many so of the best known brands in america have arsenic in their apple juice. >> reporter: chief health and medical editor for abc challenged dr. oz and his research on "good morning america." >> this fear gatheringg6bk remis me of yelling fire in a movie theater i'm very annoyed. -- >> reporter: consumer reports tested apple and grip juice, including some of america's favorite brands. -- out of 88 samples, 10% had total arsenic levels greater than the federal standard for

drinking water. dr. besser blames the fda for backpedaling on its original statement that made him so adamant juice was safe. >> they said there was an industry standard turns out there is not. they said the type of arsenic in apple juice was the safe kind. turns out it was not. they published results online so we could look at it. the problem is, they withheld eight results that were very highly. >> reporter: the fda released this statement: a small percentage of samples contain elevated levels of arsenic. in response the fda has expanded surveillance activities and is collecting additional data. consumer reports found 25% of the juices it tested had lead levels higher than the fda standard for bottled water. the juice)gtú products associatn says juice is not water. to compare the trace levels of arsenic or lead in juice to the regulatory guidelines for

drinking water is not appropriate. consumer advocates hope this controversy leads to better guidelines. >> we need to pay attention to the results of that process which is setting a limit and telling manufacturers of juice look for these levels and don't exceed this number. >> reporter: in the meantime, dr. besser's advice to parents limit how much juice your child drinks any way because it is linked to obesity. babies unsix months old should never drink juice and no child should drink -- drink juice out of a bottle. mike has a lot of work today. the winds have taken all the fog away but pose their own problem in the fastest gusts haven't reached us yet. also, what the new home address of lt. governor gavin newsom is hinting about his political future. good news out for the millions who take the popular
