closed captioning by closed captioning services,inc the investigation is expanding in a red wide city school district following -- allegation of abuse. >> eight more employees are now being investigated. i'm eric thomas in for kristen sze. with and i'm cheryl jennings. >> reporter: sources are telling -- abc7 the employees are teachers and teacher aides they are being investigated for what they did not tell or what they should have known about. >> everybody is worried. we done feel like 100% safe.

but we have -- with we don't feel like one you >> reporter: that worry began with alexis bog about bog who allegedly -- a source tells abc7 teachers and teacher aides are under investigation. >> our district didn't properly screen and placed somebody in their program that should not had been around children. but it doesn't affect our school. >> safety is always our top priority that's why we've taken this action and want to get to the bottom of it. we are going to find out what happened. >> reporter: an attorney for one of the alleged victims says some of the children are acting out.

>> one of the children i've had the opportunity to spend time with is beginning to act out in behaviors that had not previously existed. some include aggressive behaviors. some include regressive behaviors. where some of the progress that had been made during the child's mainstreaming now appears to be lost. >> reporter: alexis bogdisis is free on $15,000 bail facing nine counts of child cruelty and assault. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. right now in san franar hasl parking spot. a woman dove into the surf at ocean beach above dawn. she had to be rescued her car will be there for a while. >> reporter: we are at ocean beach south of the beach chalet. out about 150 yards or so quite a distance is a lexus e350

sedan tossed by the high surf. firefighters came this morning about 6:30 to rescue a woman sign the car. they that -- a woman inside the car. they believe she was alone in the car they are not looking for any other victims. the car was left, sealed up and apparently no water has gotten insofar. we are accustomed to the occasional washed up beached whale down here at ocean beach, debris occasionally kicked up by high surf. this is possibly a first. official are still trying to piece it together and figure out exactly what happened here and why? in the meantime, the sight i drawing quite a few curious onlookers. >> it is surfing having a

overnight. the officer stopped to clear debris from railroad avenue, three or four people on the overpass began throwing rocks and pieces of concrete down on him. police believe the attack was an ambush intended to injure the officer. he has been released from the hospital. no word on any suspects. president obama announced a newer version of his health care reform law to make sure every woman has free access to birth control. it is a compromise. katie marzullo is here with the contraception controversy. >> reporter: the answer is, cut out the middleman. women who work for religious institutions but do not share their employer's views will get it from their health insurer. president obama -- >> the plan is, health insurance companies will be

required to reach out and directly offer free birth control to women who work for religious employers. >> the president: these employers with will not have to pay for or provide contraceptive services. well women who with work at these institutions with will have access to free contraceptive says like other women. >> reporter: religious leaders blasted the original plan which would have required employers to provide health insurance that includes contraception even applied to religious charities and hospitals that are morally proposed to it. religious leaders and republicans den see this new compromise as a win -- don't see this new compromise as a win-win. >> mandate requires us to be hypocrites. >> remarkably, under this president's administration, there is an assault on religion. >> reporter: churches were already exempt based on the notion church employees share their employer's views on contraception. i talked with a spokesman for

khraeubgts for the common good he's waiting to see more analysis on the plan but says on the surface it doesn't sound like much of a compromise what do you think of the president's announcement join the conversation at facebook.com/abc7news. occupy protesters on the uc berkeley campus say they are pleasantly surprised that the police have not moved in and evicted their tiny encampment in sproul hall. amy hollyfield is live at cal. what is this protest about? >> reporter: they are upset about tuition hikes. they feel like those concerns have not been an tkesd. they've got eight tents here, they believe it is a symbol of the occupy movement with this mushroom a symbol because they say they are like fungi they just don't go away. this is the first sign of occupy cal tents in three months. don't call in protest new.

>> it is nice to see the tents back out here. it is not a new effort. it really is just a continuation of what we tried to do last semester. >> reporter: that attempt ended never 9th, when police forcibly removed them. students criticized the use of batons and tear gas on protesters who ignored dispersal orders. this group isn't sure whether new orders with will drive people out or if they will refuse to leave. >> there's precedent for either. >> reporter: so far police are allowing the tents that went up yesterday afternoon, even though they do violate campus policy. some joined the effort this morning. the group is still small most students walked by on their way to class. >> i think there's a lot of people in the same boat as me and support it but they are not ready to miss class and dedicate their lives to it. >> reporter: i just spoke with a spokesperson for uc berkeley

she told me protesters are violating campus policy. police officers have stopped to tell them that she doesn't feel like it warrants forcibly ing them at this time. they -- forcibly removing them at this thyme. they don't want a repeat of november. republican presidential candidates will be in washington, d.c.txd today appearing at a conservative political action conference. before that event mitt romney stopped in northern virginia drum up support he talked about competition for jobs and the sparring match of sorts he had a few years ago with a fellow republican governor. >> arnold schwarzenegger came to my state and put up billboards in massachusetts. he was trying to poach my jobs. come to california, picture of him flexing his muscles and his t-shirt. what am i supposed to do. i put up billboards in california outside airports i knew business people would

a charlotte, north carolina bus driver is being called a hero. she evacuated six children from the bus movements before it burst into flames. she smelled an omkxu from the front of the bus she stopped and let the kids out the back. she credits training and experience. investigators say electric wiring malfunction caused that fire. in los angeles police announced they've captured a dangerous escapee convicted of threatening to kill madonna. he had been missing since he what walked away from a state mental hospital last friday. police say he is highly

psychotic and can be extremely violent. madonna testified against him in 1996 after he jumped the fence of her hollywood hills home. he was convicted of stalking and served 10 years in prison he was committed to a state hospital last year. attention citibank customers you may want to double check statement if you paid bills using ipad. the bank says it admits to a problem with its ipad application. some customers' bills with were double charged. they paid their mortgage twice. there are customers who say they never used an ipad. the bank has fixed the problem, reimbursed customers and covered any fees. nissan recalling 39,000 models of the its versa cars because transmission can be shifted out of park without the foot on the brake made between june 9th, 2011 and january 13th of this year. no crashes or injuries
