faith. something that pg&e, the city says has not been doing. take a look at what we are talking about going back to september of 2010, the explosion in san bruno, a devastating impact on the city. eight people were killed, 38 homes destroyed, 70 homes damaged. the negotiations between pg&e and the city were not moving forward, according to the city. take a look at what san bruno says is happening this is what they are announcing right now. they say pg&e walked out on negotiations and they did that last week. the city says, it will join formal negotiations with the puc and teague to make sure that the city -- and pg&e to make sure that the city is fully compensated and there's a significant fine for pg&e. the city wants pg&e to fully fund itselfy million dollar compensation trust fund which to -- its 70 million dollar compensation trust fund. in addition to the money paid to the city of is and that

remains. convicted killer wesley shermantine directed authorities to the mass grave. shermantine and herzog are(0qpw suspected of up to 30 murders in the 80s and 90s. >> reporter: a san joaquin county spokesman just wrapped up his briefing in the last hour he revealed more about the well where crews are digging and what happens next. crews have been digging since friday. they've dug at least 45 so far they've found at least 1,000 bones and fragments. personal items, including clothing and journal . the big dan when serial killer wes shermantine made a deal a map in exchange for money he calls the location herzog's bone yard in reference to his partner loren herzog. the well was bought by a rancher in 1982. that rancher tells investigators he filled in the well in the years that sure how deep the

well. >> we are trying to find information about how deep that well goes. we're not being too successful. it was dug back in the 1800s. there's a second well not on the same property. as soon as we get done with this well then we are going to the second site and evaluate that and see what with we need to do there. >> reporter: there's a bay area connection. 9-year-old michaela garecht disappeared in 1988 shermantine hinted that herzog kidnapped and killed the girl. her family is anxious to learn if her remains will be found with the others. the remains of a 16-year-old has been tentatively identified. she vanished from a stockton high school in 1985. wheeler is the second victim to be id'd. shermantine led investigator to the remains of a 25-year-old.

the sheriff's department is scheduled to give another update on the dig this afternoon. we will bring you any new information on abc7 news at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00. katie marzullo, abc7 news. security screeners at oakland airport found more than just peanut butter in a jar. a man tried to take onboard -- it turned out to be a bag of marijuana. police questioned the man and cited him, they also seized his pot. tsa says it at least the second time in the last four months that screeners have found pot hidden inside a peanut butter jar. caltrans decided this morning that conditions are clear enough to go with the planned closure at the upper deck of the bay bridge. live look right now from our capra, bay bridge, hd camera westbound closure will begin friday night at 8 p.m.
