closed captioning by closed captioning services,inc firefighters are still trying to contain a 200 acre fire in napa that started yesterday afternoon. soda canyon road north of napa. good morning i'm cheryl jennings. and i'm kristen sze. meteorologist mike nicco will have more on how the weather could affect the fire. let's begin with amy hollyfield on soda canyon road. >> reporter: we just spoke with the vineyard owner which started the fire which ignited this massive one. he says his vineyard is so new it doesn't have a name yet. he and his employs are stunned and upset this happened -- his employees are stunned and upset this happened.

they tried to grab a hose hose but in got out of control in a hurry. firefighters reeled it was bigger than they they thought it -- realized it was bigger than they thought. it burned 200 acres they thought it was 60. i was tough for these men to what -- it was tough for these men to watch. their employee was burning brush embers from that fire sparked in massive one. >> it wasq=%sw a night and you worry about the impact that it has on such a great area of the world. everybody has responded terrifically. >> reporter: the wind caught embers and carried them into the wild land where conditions are so dry the fire took off quickly. >> it is shocking, the response interest the fire department and everybody has been terrific to do the containment as best they can. >> reporter: the vineyard owner says the employee is in shock. >> he's very terrible.

but we had to face the consequences, we are responsible for what we do here. >> reporter: the fire started off of soda canyon road in napa county 12:30 yesterday afternoon. three multi-million dollar hopes were threatened, but the fire never reached them. >> what a relief, thankfully there were no property damages, no homes, no injuries or anything like that. so it was definitely wildfire. >> reporter: firefighters were shocked when this call came in calfire isn't fully staffed right now that doesn't happen until april or may they had to call neighboring fire departments for help. >> i've been up here since's 97, i don't recall any fire burning like this time of year incredible. >> reporter: here's a live picture from sky 7 of where they are working now deep down in a canyon hard to get to they are relying on their chopper to do the water drops to get this fire completely
