>> the car tried to come into campus and we tried to stop it and it proceeded to accelerate through the crowd and then knocked over a bunch of people and guy in front of it so the driver wouldn't run anyone over and cause serious bodily harm to someone. >> reporter: the car did hit a few students but everyone was okay. police say the man was trying to get his girlfriend to class. >> i'm horrified that anyone would dream of doing something like that it is just so wrong. we are just trying to make a point and really be able to show the world what we think about education and how important it is to us. >> reporter: despite their

anger, students calmed everyone down and kept the focus on their message, a peaceful protest against tuition increases. their patience was tested again when a man walked up and criticized their tactics. a fistfight broke out between the man and some protesters. [ screaming ] >> reporter: majority calls were for calm those involved in the fight walk add way the protest started 4:00 this morning when students blocked two entrances at uc santa cruz in the hope of shutting down campus for the day. >> low let in health care workers -- they let in health care workers but turned everyone else away. >> i think students should be allowed on campus. i now they blocked all classes on campus. i think it is unfair. >> the entire idea of a strike

students. alexia bogdisis stood before a judge to enter a plea. >> reporter: that plea is not guilty for the first time we are hearing from alexia bogdisis in this hot button case. her attorney entered the lee then came to tell report there's his client is being singled out bay the district attorney. alexia bogdisis came out of court accompanied by two attorneys. she spoke for the first time about the accusation she slapped, kicked and pushed two special education children at roosevelt elementary in december and january. >> i would just like to say that i have never abused a child. and i can believe this is happening. i have nothing else to say >> reporter: a mother of a special needs child an allege alleged lay abused by bogdisis spoke about bogdisis allegedly holding food from her child. >> [ inaudible ]

taking food way is not the thing to do to special needs kids. >> reporter: bogdisis' attorney says he entered a not guilty plea because no crime was committed certainly not by his client. >> it is difficult to believe that five aides in a classroom and supervisors would allow something like that to go on. >> reporter: the district's website says, six employees knew of possible abuse and did not meet their legal obligation to report it. the d.a.'s office is choosing not to prosecute these individuals or the supervisor who they did tell but who did nothing with the information. >> at this point we are focusing on miss bogdisis and the wrongs she committed. the people who observed her conduct are more important as witnesses than they would be as defendants in a criminal case. >> breaks my heart, it is high child it really breaks my heart. >> reporter: the school district says it is going to
